Hm...somewhat disappointed.Really wanted an almond latte from Jones but also wanted to try something new so decided to come here. Heard that the matcha pistachio latte here is very good so I ordered one of that. Which was good. The taste of matcha with a flavor of pistachio was a tasty mix.The salted caramel latte was disgusting. It was soooooo salty that I can barely drink it. I think the gal over did it with the salt. Made me even more thirsty. The more I try to intake some the more I feel sick. Of course, I tossed it away. Was a waste of money for the salty latte. Also, when I entered, the two staffs were too busy talking. Didn't cared that I was there...honestly, I was going to leave but because I needed my coffee fix before heading to the temple so I waited. Usually, it doesn't bother me much but they talked for a very long time without saying anything to the customer (me).  At least say, give me a sec or something. My friend and I wanted to try a new drink place and we saw this place on Yelp and decided to try it. Both of us got the matcha milk tea. It wasn't bad but the matcha flavor was very... light.  We mainly tasted the oat milk and the sweetener which was kinda disappointing.Btw, mini bobas are only available on the weekends (don't ask why, I don't know either).Also, the lady who took our order was a bit rude and had a slight attitude. I simply asked if they could make a combo drink of Matcha and Oolong and immediately replied "No" in a dismissive and harsh tone. I was taken aback not going to lie. I also asked about a Vanilla sweetener but she was pretty rude answering my question so I just stopped asking. Being a first time customer, I expected better service. If I had a choice, I would go for milk tea over coffee in the morning, but most cafes don't serve it until close to brunch.  Home Brewed Bar was open at 8:30 for my morning fix, which was awesome!  You could request different milk options and sweetness levels.  The person who took my order was very nice and asked me to let him know if adjustments were needed.  I ordered the black milk tea with 25% sugar, more mild in tea and sweetness but refreshing, which is what I wanted.  While the inside of the shop was small, it felt cozy, and there was patio seating.  Great place! Don't forget to use the 20% off for Yelp check in! I love horchata and am always on the hunt for the best horchata (though I have a pretty good idea of where that is already). There aren't many places that offer horchata and boba so I was super excited to come here!The shop itself is super cute! Plenty of spaces to sit indoors and outdoors and a nice quiet place to study. I ordered the horchata latte with mini boba. I wasn't sure how the boba would taste in coffee and I definitely should have listened to my gut hah! The mini boba was sweet but way too soft and kind of melted in my mouth. The drink was decently good but I would have loved for more horchata flavor instead of coffee. My first time here, on a Wednesday. I came because its APPI, filipino-owned and they have good reviews (I'm filipino myself). What worked for me, the store looks nice and the iced lavender oat latte was pretty good: sweet and creamy.Unfortunately, this wasn't the pleasant morning experience I had hoped for. When I walked in, the girl at the register was not smiling or welcoming. I wasn't informed about the 65 cent upcharge for oat milk. Best place in Old Town Pasadena to get your coffee. I used to work in the area and I'd drop by to get my coffee here. The staff was always so nice and welcoming. They made the drinks fast but always the best quality. They offer milk alternatives as well. They have fun season drinks if you want something different but I always get the vanilla latte or when available. The cookie butter drink. I have not been here for a while. They surprised me with the new decorations. It was really cute. I am currently on keto diet, so I cannot have any sugar. I mentioned to the cashier, and she suggested me there I can choose the almond flavor sweetener obtain as it is sugar free. I ordered americano with no sugar almond flavor option. It tastes fantastic! I love the almond flavor in my coffee. Cute spot near the main Colorado blvd in Old Town Pasadena. I stopped by thinking there would be coffee, but their menu is mainly tea-- and very delicious ones too! I've had their milk tea and earl grey creme-- both very good. I do recommend letting them know to add less sugar if you like your drinks less sweet. It's not very big inside but there are a few benches you can sit and enjoy your beverage while reading one of their sweet poetry books on the table. More...

This coffee shop is such a gem. With a variety of different drinks and flavors you are guaranteed to find something you'll enjoy here! I love taro- especially in coffee and was so happy to see they had a taro syrup here. I also love that they have lots of different milk options!  I was super pleased with my drink and will definitely be back if ever in the area. My iced matcha pistachio with taro whipped cream and boba was soooo good. At most boba places I get ~75% sweetness but I didn't need to adjust the sweetness here. Only negative is that it's on the pricier side (regular matcha pistachio is $6, boba is an extra .50 and then with tax it was almost $7 total), but that's kind of to be expected for the area. I've been going here for a few years and only ever get the same drink: iced nutella latte. It's SO delicious and well-made. You can clearly taste the nutella without it being overly sweet. I moved to OC, but I still make sure to come by whenever I'm in the area because I love it so much! I've never had a nutella latte as good as theirs.They would be 5 stars, but over the years, they have had off days when the drink isn't as good or enjoyable, and consistency is really important to me! I feel bad lowering my review but the last few times we've been here it has been a miss unless the owner or someone working with him is there. My husband and I ordered two iced mochas with espresso instead of toddy/cold brew. We'd worked in coffee for over fifteen years and felt pretty certain we ordered in a way that was understood. We got mostly foam, i think the milk was steamed and poured over ice so it didn't taste like anything but a watered down hint of chocolate with whip on top. I'll stick to cold brews next time. Love this little coffee/tea shop. On a hot fall (read Summer weather bc it's SoCal) day, we were parched and HBB was exactly what we needed. I really enjoyed the vibe, service and drinks here. I would def come here again and support a local Pasadena business - LOVED my iced black rose milk tea . We also tried the Modern Animal which was described as an earl grey and vanilla milk tea that is tinted blue with the butterfly milk tea. This is good if you like your drinks more milky. TLDR = Cute place for matcha and coffee drinks. Get the matcha pistachio. Call your order ahead of time at 626-397-2887 to avoid the rush time. Exterior = 5/5Located along the street you can find parking at meters or next door at the pay by space parking. Not much for outdoor seating but take it to go and walk the area since it's full of eateries and stuff to do.Interior = 5/5Quaint vibes, they have a couple chairs near the front then some high top tables for standing room. Not super big - if there is a line it can feel cramped while you wait.  They have books on the high tables if you fancy a read while you wait.Service = 5/5Staff is super helpful so if there is something you want to try or need a recommendations - just ask.Order = 5/5Matcha pistachio is my hands down favorite since I first started coming here. #18 in my coffeshop chronicles. Cute coffee & tea shop in Old Town. Service was friendly and I like how Home Brewed offers unique flavors you can't find just anywhere, like their pistachio or salted caramel lattes. I have tried a couple of different drinks here over the past few weeks, and some were better than others. I wouldn't say I particularly loved any of them but most of them were decent enough to finish. Out of all of the drinks I have tried, I enjoyed the salted caramel toddy latte the best. I had also tried the pistachio toddy latte at one point but I felt like the pistachio flavor was weak and could have used more. I also tried a few of their milk teas which were just alright. Due to pandemic, I've been searching for boba, tea and coffee to go. I'm a really big fan of their Peach Oolong Milk Tea. It's not a typical Peach Oolong Tea like those boba mom and pop shops or the franchies . You can switch up the milk if you like and also the sweetness. When you drink into this Peach Milk Tea, you get the the bits of peaches, unlike other places, they would be using peach syrup. A very cute tea/coffee shop in Old Town! Came here for a coffee n study date with friends before our finals. It was nice that they had both coffee and tea/boba options. The service was great and vibes on point. The coffee itself was ok in my opinion, not bad but not amazing either. It tasted quite bitter and kind of watered down despite getting whole milk. I guess they are more known for their teas and boba so I'll give those a try next time. Since the inside is quite small, it's not the best place to study-- there's only one table with a bench with no outlets. There are other tables but they're higher just for standing and no chairs. It's a nice place to chat with friends and hang out for a few minutes but not a camp-out-n-study place. mini boba in my thai tea w/ oat milk! on a whim, i was searching for some thai tea. luckily, thanks to yelp, i found this spot. i called as i saw they had a thai tea option online and they assured me i was able to choose my milk which i appreciated. they were about 15 minutes to closing so the barista suggested i place my order over the phone (genius!). i placed my order and walked on over. i was greeted upon arrival, even offered a taste test just to make sure i liked the flavor. these people were so kind and helpful! it was delicious. the tea was perfect and the boba went nicely with it. overall, absolutely worth a visit. thank you to the two of you for making accommodations to our drinks and taking our order right before closing. i truly appreciate it. i used to love home brewed bar and i loved the boba in the coffee  but i had such an awful experience there this weekend. the person who took my order was rude and completely mislead me about my matcha drink flavor and they made it the opposite of how i asked even though i was super clear and tried to confirm several times that i didn't want it sweet at all . she ended up just ignoring me and gave me a drink that tasted like sugar and no matcha :,( my friend got an ice blended latte and she ended up dumping it out bc it just tasted like milk :,(  i hope next time i go i have a better experience bc i used to love this place :,) More...

3 years later and Home Brewed Bar is still our gold standard for boba. Since then we've had  two events catered by Home Brewed Bar! The first was our wedding back in 2018 and then we just had catering this past weekend for a birthday party! Both times were so easy to plan and Brian is always so helpful! Our guests loved it and I think we're starting to become the people that always have boba at their events. All their drinks are still top notch and service is even better. Very cute interior. Loved that they outwardly showed support for important movements such as BLM and stopping AAPI hate. Location was a bit hidden although very close to the rest of the shops of old town. I got the Nutella toddy latte iced and added boba. It was very sweet which is perfect for me. Boba could have been cooked sliiiiightly longer, but still was enjoyable. I ordered a large (sizes are medium, large and XL) but could've been satisfied with a medium as sizes are pretty accurate to their names lol. My friend got the pistachio toddy latte iced (no boba) and added brown sugar syrup for extra sweetness. She enjoyed her drink as well and said it was subtle but still good. A friend and I were on the lookout for a new coffee spot in Pasadena and came across Home Brewed Bar, right next to King Taco. What an amazing find!! The guy working the register was so attentive, happy to provide us with drink recommendations and even checking the spelling of our names on the cups. The best DECAF cold brew!!!! Thank you, thank you for having this option! I am such a coffee lover and recently was unable to drink regular coffee. So Home Brewed Bar has brought joy back into my life!! Thank you!! I got the pistachio toddy, iced, decaf, 50% sweet with taro whip and it was AMAZING!
