Love the place! happy service, dishes beyond the norm and gourmet all the way! The coffee and food are always excellent at the Holuakoa. Every time I go to the Big Island - I always make it a point to have lunch at the Holuakoa Gardens Restaurant. My wife and I had our 50th wedding anniversary lunch there a few years ago.
The food is consistently good (although the menu never seems to change).
Take a few minutes and give it a try.

We were pleasantly surprised to find an outdoor cafe adequately covered to protect us from a heavy downpour. We were greeted by an upbeat gentleman who showed us to our table and took our drink order.
Our waitress appeared and provided some additional information about the menu. We chose the Caprese. The buffalo mozzarella and fresh tomato slices were served with pesto, greens, and what I believe is a balsamic glaze. It was wonderful!
We both ordered opah. It was served with guava butter, sautéed kale with peppers (the missus asked for asparagus instead of kale, and they happily accommodated this request), and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. We really enjoyed the entrees!
To end the night we had the lilikoi cheesecake. That too exceeded our expectations! (although the next time we order this, we will ask for a little more lilikoi drizzle. How can you have too much lilikoi, right?)
Great food. Great service. Great tropical atmosphere. We'll be back!
