This hotel is a great hotel. Very friendly, clean. Our room was ocean view. They have a hot tub and heated pool. The fire pit was going which we enjoyed. There is a shuttle that took us to downtown which is maybe a mile or so where we had a great dinner and visited the nice town. We would stay there again. More...

The staff were helpful and friendly. ||Bar Harbor is interesting to see even though it was nearly season end. More...

Such a good deal. Didn’t expect the beautiful landscape out back, an extremely warm heated pool we were able to swim in when it was 50 degrees, a hot tub, little game room and gym, and a really good restaurant with awesome views of the grounds. Was so pleasantly surprised we will be booking for next summer when the tiki bar and lobster shack also on the grounds are open. We stayed during peak foliage time and it was incredible. Very close to town and hiking trails. We noticed a small problem with spiders.. which may be expected in a national park in Maine but we had some encounters at dinner and in our room. More...

This hotel was way overpriced forThe amenities. Great location but hotel was probably built in the 90’s and hasn’t been renovated. When we checked in the front desk attendants were so exhausted from a busy day they barley even welcomed us in. My mom and I just stayed one night, but if it was any longer I’d probably choose another hotel. More...

Here's the scoop. It depends on what you are looking for. If you want hi-speed internet with huge bandwidth, this is not the place. If you want world class services, this is not the place. If you want a nice comfortable, quiet room with a beautiful view that is close, but not too close to everything, this is the place. We paid a premium price for an ocean front room and the view and quiet was worth it. Easy access to the Island Explorer, even though we never used it, was a plus. Take the Acadian Boat tour which is almost next door as a reasonably priced great boat tour. Eat at some of the great lobster places in Bar Harbor and near the hotel, and you have a great vacation. We stayed here for 2 nights on our wedding anniversary trip to Acadia. I've stayed at many, many different hotels and got just about what I expected for a Holiday Inn. I'd give it 3 ½ stars instead of 4 but there's no option for that. Yes, getting in the first time can be a bit confusing, especially during a heavy traffic area, but oh well, turn around. ||||We were in the main building with what's termed a partial waterfront view. We may not have been able to see the sun rise directly over the water, but certainly no complaints having it come over one of the other buildings. ||||The room was fine, everything comfortable. The outdoor hot tub was nice, especially being open until late night. The shuttle downtown is also very convenient. And free. ||||After eating supper out, we came back to the bar for a drink and dessert. My wife mentioned it was our anniversary and the dessert came out with "Happy Anniversary" on it and comped by the bartender. A very nice touch that was appreciated.||||The breakfast buffet was decent, maybe a bit over priced if you pay the $20 or whatever the daily price is. When I booked I was offered it for $1 each day for each of us. ||||Overall a nice stay, comfortable. We had no problems whatsoever with staff or maintenance or anyone. More...

It was a good enough hotel to stay for the week while I worked. My mother and Maltese accompanied me on the trip. It's a very busy hotel which seems to be full most of the time we were there. They would come in by the bus loads. Pet friendly so they kept me close to the elevator on 2nd floor. The pet fee only ended up being about $100 for the 5 nights. We got there in the evening so many rooms were full already. We asked for a balcony in case my Mom couldn't take the dog outside since she just had knee surgery. However we got the room that did not have door to balcony. She would have had to climb over half wall to get balcony. The following morning there were rooms available and I asked to move to a room with door to balcony. They were able to accommodate and put us in the rear part of the hotel, separate wing which was easier to bring dog out and was on ground floor closer to pool, hot tub and water. Beds were comfortable though the pillow were too thick for me. Ocean views with balcony were $100 more a night. Quick drive to the town since it's only about a mile away. Bar Harbor is very busy town with tourists staying in the area as well as a stop for Cruise ships. It would be good if they could put microwaves in the room in order to heat up left overs. They only have 1 sugar packet, sweetener and creamer in coffee packages. The did provide extra Keurig k-cups when asked. Would have also preferred complimentary breakfast as I needed to move fast in the morning to work. I didn't really end up having a good cup of coffee until later in the day. The hot tub was outside and a good meeting spot. It was the perfect temperature when I got in and out of the hot tub. Being in the rear building I didn't have far to walk back to room. We were on the ground floor with balcony which looked at hot tub though the balcony balustrade did not have a gate to get out to lawn, probably because dogs are not permitted in that area. There was a restaurant in the hotel though we did not use it. Except for the chaos of changing rooms it was a good stay. More...

Stayed here 4 nights. Comments are either really good or really bad, perhaps because its seasonal? One staff told us it's all new people being trained early in the season. There are 2 entrances but it wasnt confusing at all, just drive to the hotel.||Allison upgraded us from a Standard Room to the Stone House. Skeptical at first because of the negative comments on here, but we tried it. We were thrilled with the room! It was big, bright, new and clean. It has an L shaped couch, fridge and Keurig but no microwave. The cathedral ceiling made the room feel bigger too, it didnt feel like a hotel but more like a B and B. We liked being away from the hotel, a short walk away. I can see that some people wouldn't like it as there is no elevator and you do one carpeted wide staircase to the top, very easy stairs. Parking was right outside. There were a few small functions in the function room downstairs but it was no inconvenience and we never heard them.||The hotel grounds are beautiful with lots of landscaping and flowers. We didnt use the pool or hot tub but they looked nice and clean and overlooked the ocean. ||The shuttle is convenient but we opted to drive the 1.5 miles in to Bar Harbor. There was plenty of parking in town, although we were there in October. ||The restaurant in the hotel served delicious food. We are dinner there 3 times and one breakfast. Simple breakfast for 2 was $19 with free coffee. First night of travel we got a brick oven pizza, delicious! Second night we had chicken parmesan, also excellent! One negative was the bartender, Daniel. He charged us for a whole extra pizza the first night. We told him, he apologized and took it off the tab. Second night he charged us for an extra $6 beer. A tour bus group came in and he was slammed with customers. We just paid the bill and left. We also sat for 10 minutes with our food and no utensils. There was only one other couple at the bar at that time. We skipped Daniel and the bar after that. The next night I walked by Daniel and a manager talking near the hostess stand. Daniel raised his voice to her and clearly said, "I want to tell them to f%$& off". The manager said, "Daniel!". I kept walking. Service in the dining room was pleasant but very, very slow. It's too bad because the food is excellent but the restaurant appears to have management issues.||Overall, we were very happy with our stay and enjoyed the tranquility of the room named "Mike" (Stone House rooms have names, no numbers). We would stay here again for sure! More...

We stayed here for one night while visiting the Acadia National Park. The hotel grounds are beautiful and hotel itself has many convenient amenities like a restaurant, heated outdoor pool, hot tub, bar, shuttle services, etc. We booked a room with a partial ocean view and were very happy with our view. Our room was on the 4th floor in the middle of the hotel, we had an amazing view of Frenchman Bay and the ocean. Our balcony included two chairs and had a canopy awning so you could still enjoy the scenery in the rain. Knowing that this was an older hotel that’s been renovated, we came expecting that not everything would be like a brand new hotel. The employee who checked us in was very friendly and so was the bar tender in the bar. The hotel is located only 1.2 miles from Acadia National Park and Downtown Bar Harbor, which is really convenient. My only issue with our stay was that our bed had pilly sheets. Overall we had a great time during our stay and would stay again. More...
