Booked this place for my wedding in July, we aren’t getting married until October. So plenty of time, right? From the get go it wasn’t good- Owner was late for our meeting, miscommunication #1, Everything was by text or Venmo. Nothing in writing per se. We met in person, hashed out minor details, put down a $500 deposit to reserve the hotel for our wedding night. A month or 2 goes by, I contact John about catering our event and when to give him the rest of the money. We reserved the whole house for Saturday. Just about every time we communicated it was via text and he would tell me that we reserved the wrong day or those days are already booked. So of course I was confused and asked about it and his short response was to call. So I called. He then proceeded to yell at me over the phone about “I’m doing you a favor, giving you this at a discounted rate, and then something about we rent through hotels.com ma’am !” (We did not) Went on to rant about how people are going to jump on this night and he had people calling him about it already. He offered me to rent the house at a discounted rate for Friday. We had already discussed that we didn’t need the house for that day at our first meeting. After this phone call I was shaken up. Told my fiancé’ and he said to cancel the whole thing because how can you work with someone who is going to talk to paying clients like that? Called him back crying, because this is my wedding we’re talking about, and told him to cancel the venue and to refund my money please. He did apologize for coming across like he did but would not refund my money. I told him you have 7 weeks to rent it out. I’m sure he could rent it in that time and will. He said it’s non refundable. I was never told this. At any rate I couldn’t see myself spending another $1000 or more and trusting this person on my wedding nor working with him after this. Don’t waste your time or money here. Beautiful, quiet, cozy, and spacious! The amenities were great--snacks, wine, and coffee bars everywhere. The bed was incredibly comfy, and the breakfast might be the best I've ever had. It stayed nice and cool in our room, despite being on the second floor in the middle of July. What amazing hosts! More...

We had such a fantastic stay at Johns Bed & Breakfast in Louisiana. He was very warm, genuine and beyond hospitable. His breakfast is killer and his staff was incredible. It’s located in a quaint part of Shreveport about 8 minutes from downtown. I would recommend this over any hotel stay in the area. It is a lodging do not miss. Thanks again for everything John!
