My absolute favorite food truck! Love to stop by on Sundays but try to get their before the crowd does.I rotate my main dish between the oxtail, fried fish, and pork chops and ALWAYS need the Mac n cheese and greens (pro tip: order an extra side of Mac ). Good portion sizes Service is great! Some items take a few extra minutes but it's always worth the wait! More...

This Tampa couple walked into the packed eaterie on a soulful Sunday; the greens were delish, the chits & hogmaws were delectable & the mac n cheese & cornbread were on point.  My husband ordered smothered pork chops, rice & black eyed peas, mac n cheese & cornbread. His statement was "now We have a reason to cross that bridge more often. More...

Went over to have dinner with some friends at their condo in Gulfport last night. Instead of cooking, they mentioned there was a food truck parked out front where we could order dinner. What an amazing treat! We arrived near the time they were closing up, so they were out of a few items. However, what they did have was awesome. The orders come with two sides, so I asked the gentleman working the window which two were his favorite. Without skipping a beat, he said "collard greens and mac n cheese". Well, of course those were the sides I ended up ordering! I honestly think that any one of the sides would have been great based on how delicious everything was.The folks running the truck were all super friendly and you could tell they were very proud of their food.Right off the bat, first thing I noticed was how heavy the bag of food was. They do not skimp on portions! In fact, the styrofoam (I know, styrofoam, boo!) containers couldn't even close. One meal is enough for two!I ordered the fried fish which were giant fillets of basa dusted in cornmeal and crispy fried. Not greasy or dry at all. Perfect fried fish. Even my husband who "isn't a fish guy" thought they were the bomb. The mac and cheese was pure heaven and my collards even had a big meaty pork bone in them, confirming the authenticity of the recipe. My husband got the smothered chicken which was delicious. It was so dark out that he couldn't see what he was eating unfortunately, but that didn't stop him from chowing down. I even grabbed a bite or two.Our friends had the pulled pork: also amazeballs. And, the only side that wasn't collard greens or mac was the green beans. They reminded me of my ole country aunt's cooked all day beans. The best! Can't wait to have anther run in with Heavy's!My only regret is that we were eating waterside in the dark, so I couldn't get a beautiful picture of this must have food. More...
