Heather is an incredibly talented photographer who made my entire family feel at ease during the photoshoot. I stumbled across her page in one of the Navy wife groups, and was completely blown away by her gallery. My children and I had an upcoming trip to visit my husband at NAS, and Heather was able to squeeze us in in the midst of her busy travel plans. On the day of the photoshoot, one of the gates on base was closed - causing us to drive around the ENTIRE base and pushing our arrival time by an extra 20 minutes. We were almost 20 minutes late for the photoshoot and I felt so bad for wasting Heather’s time. Heather was more than accommodating and patient during this time, and even stayed WAY past our schedule hour (which I wasn’t expecting her to do) to take our pictures. During the photoshoot, Heather was incredible with my five year old daughter (who, of course, had her own agenda for the photoshoot) and nine month old. She was able to bring out tons of my daughter’s smiles and even made her awkward parents feel comfortable in front of the camera. I truly can’t put into words what these photos mean to me - especially the ones of my husband and I. I definitely recommend Heather because you will 100% not be disappointed with her work! More...

We recently decided to do a small wedding with just the two of us, and at the last minute I decided that I wanted a photographer there to help us capture our day. Heather met us downtown at 0650 on a super foggy Monday morning, and exceeded our expectations more than I could have imagined. We had our first mini session about a month ago with Heather Alexandra Photography and were absolutely in LOVE with all the photos she provided us with. The package came with 10, but I couldn’t narrow it down to such a small number, so I upgraded for a small amount and was able to keep all the beautiful pics Heather captured of my family. I was so concerned about doing a mini session with a toddler and baby, but Heather did an amazing job snapping photos that captured my little loves’ personalities. She was absolutely sweet and helped us feel comfortable during our photoshoot- we’ve never had pictures taken of us professionally and she made it easy for us to feel comfortable, we absolutely love the pictures that were taken too! Before my session with Heather I was terrified of having my picture taken. Several experiences with other photographers had me believing that I simply “wasn’t photogenic”. I was extremely reluctant to put myself through another disappointing photoshoot, but Heather came highly recommended, and her portraits seemed to capture the true “essence” of her subjects, and so I decided to walk through the fear and give her a call; I am so happy that I did! I was very anxious the day of the shoot, but my nerves were instantaneously soothed by her mere presence even before she started clicking. She really listened to me and was able to tune into what I was asking her to do in a very specific and professional way. Soon I was inspired to take some creative risks, which resulted in some beautiful and unexpected shots! Heather is not just technically proficient, she is a true artist who can paint with light. Have you ever seen something so beautiful that you wished you could freeze that very moment forever in a photograph and show the world what you were seeing?
And if you were lucky enough to have a camera on hand and took the picture, did it really capture the world as you saw it, or was it a dull replica of what your eyes picked up? Heather is an amazing photographer, knowing just how to manipulate and use the natural light to capture the beauty we all can see, but that many of us can only hope to photograph on a lucky day.
I usually don't like most of the pictures people take of me, picking apart this flaw or that flaw in my appearance. When I was pregnant with my 6th and final child in 2013, I desperately wanted a maternity shoot to remember that beautiful and very special time in my life. Heather, her sister Emily (who helped with aiming the light where Heather needed it) and I headed to the coast to set up her vision for my shoot. She took so many photos in so many poses, and we walked and climbed into different places in search of just the right shot. Heather wasn't quite satisfied (not enough snow visible), so we went closer to home to one of her favorite locations to shoot. There, she took some of my favorite shots :) . I was so pleased with the finished result! I never realized it could take a hundred or so shots to get a few really superb portraits, but Heather spends hours editing the photos and chooses the ones that we will be most pleased with. (I know I blinked a lot in mine, the sun on the snow made my eyes water!) Heather made the actual shoot just as memorable as the photos she took from it. I can look at these portraits on my wall and remember the time in my life that I wanted to memorialize, but they also bring smiles to my face because of the great time we had creating them!
