My fiancee and I frequent this restaurant very often, considering how little we actually eat out anywhere... It is a great little spot in Overland right off of Page. Do NOT judge the restaurants in Overland by their exterior appearances or you will miss out on a lot of great food!We have always chosen to eat the food at the buffet when we have come in, and we have never been disappointed. The food is always warm and well-spiced, without fail, whether at lunch on a weekday or weekend dinner and everything in-between. They keep it well stocked, so the food will rarely run out completely (unless somewhat eats a ton of naan quickly), but they replenish the food very quickly. The two entree go-to's that have been on the buffet each time we've been to Haveli are the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Meatball Korma. Both are rich and decadent tasting, absolutely perfect on a bed of white rice with plenty of fresh Naan or Batura to mop up the sauce with. The onion and spinach Pakoras are usually on the buffet as an appetizer, and are a great salty, fried, decadent treat. The dessert that is always on the buffet is Gulab Jamun, which is great if you love honey and donut holes. We have tried more other foods on the buffet than I can possibly remember, and we have enjoyed all of them thoroughly. This will continue to be our favorite restaurant when we are craving Indian food and plan to return soon. Highly recommend!!! More...

I have been to quite a few Indian buffets in my day, and Haveli is a true standout. I find that a lot of Indian restaurants cheap out on their buffets and go light on the spices, but this is not the case here. Everything at Haveli is made with love and possesses the rich, complex flavors you expect from great Indian food. I used to work on Page and stopped in all the time, but my new office is sadly farther away. I still make a trip whenever I get a chance, and I never leave disappointed. I have not had Indian food in a while so when my friend suggested this place I jumped at the opportunity. I ordered the samosa and the special chai to start. The chai was amazing and the samosa was tasty, but it wasn't spicy. This was defiantly westernized for a different pallet. It wasn't bad, but I wanted a bit more heat from the curried potatoes and peas. I also ordered a plain Lasi (rose flavored- YUMMM!) and Mali Kofta and Paratha. The lasi was great- not too sweet and well balanced with the rose water. I had ordered it to cut the spice of the samosa but it ended up being my dessert. The Mali Kofta was great-- that is such a lovely delicately spiced dish with subtle sweetness I was very pleased! The paratha was also great and buttery and crispy on the edges- I loved it.Overall it was a very nice place. Amazing!  Came here for the Yelp member dinner invitation hosted by fellow Elite Yelp honcho Joshua H.  He did an excellent job for arranging it.  We get to shared our food experience stories from around the world.  We all had a great time talking about foods.  It was a pleasure meeting Caprice F., Jason J., Russ M , and the rest.  The owner Hema, and her son Parth was wonderful.  Parth took his time carefully explaining to us the foods in different part of India.  Not all Indian foods are the same.  Haveli serve northern Indian foods.  Whatever that mean but the naan was good, and fresh.  The chicken, and beef were good especially the beef meat balls.  That was my favorite.  There's so much veggies dishes.  If you are a herbivore this is heaven for you.  They have a full bar, and imported Indian beers.  Too bad I had to drive, and didn't have any.The place is huge.  Excellent for group gathering, or parties.  The waitress are very tentative, and we had never have to ask for refills. Great service.  If you like Indian foods, have not come in here yet, you are missing a lot.  This is one of the few places were your foods are being monitored by the owner before serving it to you.  Back in my days in NYC, I always eat at Jackson Height, Queens.  They have the best Indian foods there my friend.  Haveli gets 5 stars base on foods, service, and an owner who cares. Been hear 5x now since finding it in October 2017 shortly after my move to STL. Been a fan since! I love Indian food done well as it offers such a combo of flavor, aroma, nutrition and culinary experience all in one. Having been a fan of popular Indian dishes like biryani, vindaloo, naan breads, tandoori chicken and chicken tikka masala, I had the bar set high for a place that does not just menu service but also a week long lunch and dinner buffet. Being just a mile from work makes this a great place to grab an affordable lunch thats consistent but just changing enough to expand my pallet each week. I have done dinner once and lunch 3 times as well as the UYE event I just held this past week which was great! The UYE brought in a new dish for me, the 'chicken 365' which is a spicy breaded chicken with onion and green pepper and garlic. Its got kick but its spice that builds the flavor not overpowers it. The other items were all my usual favorites I have come to enjoy here. I can say with confidence that the others who came out also did as well be it first timers or repeat customers like me. All had smiles on their face and stomachs full of goodness!Hamel and Parth, mother and son hold down the fort and have one amazing story to tell for sure. Hamel has had the business for 8 years now and the wall inside the entrance proves they have something going with year after year of RFT best Indian restaurant awards. Aks them both about what they used to do or plan to be doing soon and the answer may really surprise you! As long as the doors remain open, the kitchen is clicking and the buffet is hot, I will be a regular at Haveli for a good long while. I think anyone reading this should be too! Decent Indian option that is fairly close to my house. I need to try more of the menu but got a pretty decent sampling with the buffet. The veggie options outnumbered the meat options which was just fine by me. I enjoyed the saag, the korma, and the chicken tikka masala which were all good renditions of classic dishes. The chicken curry was ok but not my favorite. Their naan was also just ok - not the best I've ever had but Naan is always better freshly ordered rather than out of a buffet so I'd probably give it another chance a time I choose to opt out of the buffet or order take ou. Their buffet is clean, well stocked, nicely labeled and has a good variety of food. The staff are friendly and helpful. UPDATE:Haveli has gone through a few changes over the last year or so, and I apologize for failing to follow up here (I just missed it somehow). The buffet is now an all-the-time, every-time thing, and this is a big plus!  The ala carte is great, but pricey - the buffet allows you to eat both cheaply and until you're ready to die from over eating!Food wise, Haveli remains consistenly excellent, but the service has become a little more hit and miss.  While I know that Haveli is family owned, I'm not certain who is and isn't family, so attributing these changes to family is just speculation - however... I've had at least two seatings where the server literally spoke no English other than what was on the menu (and badly at that).  Their attitude was really good - they WERE trying, but without being able to communicate, it's impossible to provide any kind of realistic service (of course, the new buffet all the time decision makes this less important most of the time).  Despite being buffet all the time, you CAN still order ala carte, so if you're in the mood for a huge order to go, this is still a great choice (but a bit on the high side for price).Haveli has been playiong around with loaylty and internet based programs to provide delivery - we'll have to see how that works out.  The first two loyalty systems both disappeared before we could claim any of our seatings, and none of the (now 3 or 4 loyalty plans since they opened) newer loyalty systems carried forward the balances of the prior ones.  Since we've got around 40 seatings, I am hoping that some day, maybe 10 years and four more loyalty programs down the road, we can get a free meal, but...Haveli is now an old timer in the neighborhood, and has been the Peoples Choice more than once: and they still produce EXCELLENT food, in a SUPER friendly environment!  They are one of this neighborhood's few real treasures, and we are prayng that the recent spate of restaurant closures in this area will pass by Haveli completely (it would kill me if Haveli closed. Seriously!). More...
