A friend of mine made reservations for seven on New Years Eve. He's ate dinner there once before and said it was excellent. We arrived at 5pm. We had a drink while they got our table ready.  The staff was extremely friendly and the ambiance at Harley was very nice.  They seated us up stairs in a nice room . Our waiter Ilya (ilya) was the BEST. The restaurant was packed and he was so accommodating from start to finish.  He's recommendations for appetizers as well as entrees were spot on.  Service was excellent and the food was even better!  We will be back. Service: Very slow but it was also Christmas Eve and they might have been understaffed and busy. Food: Brussel Sprouts - very good flavorCacio E Pepe - Kind of boring. Not a lot of flavor. I really enjoyed my time at Harley. We went there on a recommendation from a friend, and I could not have been more excited. From the minute we ordered, the experience was wonderful. We shared several items, the chicken pot pie and the meatballs being the stand outs for me. I really enjoyed the ambiance, and the service was fantastic.Also, chocolate chip cookies with the bill? "To die for" was Anesa's description of the pecan pie and yes,  she was right, IT WAS TO DIE FOR!! By far the best desert I've had in a long time. Now I can't remember what I had for dinner, LOL. She and Brenden at the bar are a great face for Harleys. Both of their knowledge for the food and drinks here were on point. Great personalities and made everyone feel welcome. We WILL be back. We were trying to find a cool date night place and this was it. We went on a Friday night and, surprisingly, it was pretty empty. It was perfect for us because we were able to get a table right away. They sat us upstairs and, at first, I wondered why they didn't seat us downstairs at street level. But, I liked sitting upstairs away from the noise of outside.I was very happy to see they had mocktails as I wasn't drinking at the time. In fact, I ordered one off the menu and the bartender made me something else that wasn't on the menu. How cool is that?! The cocktail, beer, and wine lists looked great.The food was good, however, some of it was a bit more pricey than what I would normally pay. For instance, the Prawns were kinda pricey for what you get. They were good, but not amazing. The cacio e pepe was amazing and so were the marinated olives. What a great find!  My friend and I love to try new restaurants. We sat at the viewing bar and were able to watch the chefs prepare the food.  They were so friendly and loved explaining the various foods they were using.  We were able to taste some of the specialties hey were developing. We started with the wine flight which was a great value for Happy Hour at $10 for 3 3 ounce selections. A real bargain and great choices.  We had the duroc pork served over puréed butternut squash with a generous side of mushroom risotto.  The portion was great and the taste was fantastic!  Pecan pie with their special homemade ice cream was the best.  Our server Anica was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, as was John, the manager.  To finish , when we got the check their was a homemade cookie for each of us, which was his grandma's  favorite recipe.  We will definitely go back. Absolutely loved the restaurant!  My wife and I did the tasting menu which was to die for. $65 each was a bargain for all the food we got.  Our server, Lauren, was terrific as well as the other staff members that assisted her. The grilled avocado was amazing.  The ambiance was great, nice decor, good music and fun patrons made it a wonderful choice. Can't wait to take friends and family back to Harley. More...

After multiple visits to Harley over the past year, I've really come to love this neighborhood gem and the wonderful people who make it work.  Chef Greg Daniels leads a talented team in the kitchen, using some of the highest quality local ingredients available.  Produce from the Ecology Center in SJC, fish from Harbor Fish in Dana Point, and eggs from Gonestraw Farms in Riverside are just a few of the sources, and you can really taste the quality.  A recent visit featured a right off the boat tuna, perfectly seared and crusted, and served over a salad with soft fennel and warm olives.  Absolutely delicious!  I love the meat dishes, which are cooked and flavored over a real wood fire.   The staff are friendly and make diners feel welcome as soon as they walk through the door.  The decor is warm and inviting.  For a great experience, sit at the Chef's Counter and watch the magic happen in the kitchen.   Harley is a great addition to the Laguna Beach dining scene and I look forward to my next visit. I usually don't yelp too often but going to this restaurant I immediately said i need to write a review because the food and the experience was amazing! I loved the cozy yet modern ambience and more importantly the food was fantastic. We were a group of 6 and we ordered bunch of food and mingled with wine... everything was delicious and its one of those places that you crave the food again few days after . But the main reason i wanted to write a review was for the fact that the owner/ chef put the effort of coming to our table and personally asking about how everything is going which made the experience a one of a kind one More...

Let me start by saying I have had the pleasure of dining here at Harley's over 10x probably more ... starting to lose count! (Pictures & food reviews to follow below)... the moment I walked in I immediately felt The warmth of the atmosphere from the details in the decor to the aromas of satiating food being prepared, that will soon greet your hungry belly! My inaugural visit I was a glutton!!-- having tastings of everything possible w a friend. I believe the chefs were surprised that we kept ordering... these two gals had bottomless pits!! We sat up at the range and got to witness the preparation and dedication to each dish detail, before being delivered  to each patron. Everything is made to order sauce, sauté, protein, vegetables etc etc... not to mention the Crafted cocktails that stand alone in their tastiness!  My most recent evening spent there dining, was this past Saturday.  I brought in 3 1st timers ... local "go-getter" business women & self proclaimed foodies...looking for a new dining "hot spot." Couldn't wait for them to try Harley's... they would be tough critics. One is a vegan chef herself, One a pescatarian & the other two eat it all!! Owner & chef, Greg Daniels always taking the time to say hello & post introductions to my friends & mentioning the vegan chef excited to eat here......Chef Greg without even asking took care of any modifications to accommodate Ingredients respectful of her vegan lifestyle... (for example the sautéed mushrooms sans butter & still as tasty as EVER!). They adored everything! Please find the time To visit Harley's ...honestly every guest I've introduced  here has had an absolutely perfect & delicious experience just as I have. I have referred at last count  at least another 30 friends & family members and clients to trust my excitement over the food & dining experiences I've had here. Happy to report that they are also now return customers & have also referred their friends and fam to enjoy the eats! I'd like to say that my review is weighted w current experiences & relevance, in comparison to other reviews w singular experiences .. I'd also like to claim myself as a  "regular" now! :) & on that note I'm way overdue in "Yelping" their establishment! Don't know why I didn't sooner actually! Just popped in my mind tonight! So here It is! Please also note I've  been coming here for the past 3months... & so happy to have been introduced to this establishment by a dear friend  I also entrust w impeccable taste!....the ripple affect of that 1st encounter has had me sending people through their doors to share this fantastic food ever since! Another must!8) the Spicy sweet Wings,  skillet Meatballs.... get them!9) anything Happy hour amazing way to try so many menu items at incredible price points 4-7pm... Do it!!!10) all the homemade pasta options.. from simple Cacio E Pepe, or Pomodoro or the crowd fav boar bolognese!! (Again all made to order)11) the steaks grilled over open flame smells amazing... and melts in your mouth! 12) My dad loved the Happy hour Burger!! My mom the Yukon baked and fire grilled potato w raclette cheese!11) don't get me started on the desserts... honey ice cream... upside down pineapple cake!... pecan pie!!! Not to mention the baked cookies served w every dinners tab... Greg's grandmothers cookie recipe... he'd always leave their house he's shared w these cookies she'd bake to send them off with! "Harley" was Greg's grandfather... & I've appreciated coming to learn that this restaurant was Inspired by his Grandparents home down to the lovely green interior ...respectfully the color of their home when he was growing up! Here are my suggestions that are the bomb. Cocktails: their old fashion and the formula cocktails for whiskey/bourbon drinks. Appetizers: surprisingly the avocado appetizer was awesome. The wings were great. My daughter who can't talk yet and is almost 2 but said he first words "better not touch my wings".  And the cheese on fire was grub as well. Main Course: the prime ribeye seemed bigger than the amount on the menu and was spectacular. The bake potato finally had enough cheese and sour cream to last you the WHOLE potato and not just the first two bites. Dessert: Bourbon butter pecan pie all the way and I'm not even a huge fan of pecans. Nice to see the chef/owner at the restaurant doing his things compared to making the menu and disappearing after the opening. Kid friendly and worth every penny. More...

Just had THE most amazing experience at the Harley. Our server was so patient with us and recommended the perfect girls night out option. We had the pre fixed menu with the wine pairing and it was phenomenal. We chose chefs table seating and Jose made us feel extra special, letting us try the sauces and One of the appetizers. We got to meet the owner and hear a bit of the history of the restaurant. Only to end our experience with cookies on the house. 10 out of 10 would recommend!! More...

Ate there last Friday night for the first time.  We got there before 7 pm not realizing they have a happy hour 3 course meal for $45! The food was fabulous as you have 2 choices from each category starting with appetizers to main course. The oysters were excellent to the streak option. The staff and our waiter were very attentive and did a great job. At the end of our meal a man stopped by to ask how we liked the meal? It turned out to be the manager and owner Greg Daniels. I am a total fan of this place! I am a Laguna native and it's hard to find good places to eat. This place has outstanding quality of food and service . The only thing is that they should garnish the entrees more with a little something . It looks super plain on the plate , maybe a little dill or side of fruit or even a dash of something on the side so people can post your food without it being plain. More...

By a landslide this is the BEST restaurant in OC.  Fresh organic. Service is of the charts. Food and experience are what dining should be. We are addicted. We came early so the place was quiet. I'm sure it gets active later on. Ambience was very comfortable. Cozy even. Service was amazing. Scott, our waiter recommended and explained the dishes and the wines. We had an organic, chilled red Cab Franc. Unusual, delicious. two appetizers: Haloumi cheese and Grilled avocado served with oiled grilled bread. Amazing!! The burger was the best I've ever had (before 6, it's $19. after that, more.) If I could give this place 6 stars, I would! From the moment we walked in (on a Sunday morning), the service was stellar. The menu features unique items made with high quality ingredients, and everything is freshly made to order . You can taste a real difference between this and other restaurants. The Hospitable Hemingway was by far the best cocktail I've ever had. The scrambled eggs were soo creamy and cooked to perfection  the chives just blew it out of the park. The grass-fed chorizo is amazing and the quality stands out!The pancakes - a delicious surprise! The portion is beyond generous and they're so fluffy. Eating fresh organically and locally grown ingredients, won her heart!  I took my visiting 17-year-old daughter here when she stayed over night with me in Laguna and nailed it with Harley. ..eating fresh organically and locally grown ingredients, won her heart. Rephrase: organic, but hearty. We sat at the bar because behind that, the cooks prepare gourmet delicious food, but at a comfortable distance. We had creme frache on our cheesy-chivy potatoes and and a halibut straight from the Dana Point fishing dock. Yum! All this plus great service; we were well attended to and felt like princes during our mom and daughter time. Laguna Beach, Ca.Came here with my son to celebrate his birthday. Since his name is Harley it seemed like the place to go. Everyone working here seems not only friendly but genuine, like a normal person who is not acting. This includes the manager and the waitress. We decided to try a bottle of Pinot since they were discounting it from a hundred bucks to fifty. My son did the taste and his face looked like he had just bit into a lemon. I tried it and the tartness was not acceptable, it was an arrogant wine not meant to be enjoyed, but merely tolerated. We sent it back and no questions were asked although I watched as a guy tasted it and shrugged as if he didn't find any fault with it. I decided to just order a glass of house Cabernet and my son opted for an IPA. My wife stuck with water which was monitored and topped off continually. My glass of Cab was not stellar, but compared to the Pinot was 95 points. Our dinner became fun as we tried several dishes which I will mention below. Fried Halloumi Cheese. Comes out flaming. Interesting flavors, very different. One we never finished as more tasty delights began to arrive. Humus and local vegetables. Outstanding Humus, tasted as if perhaps the garbonzo's had been roasted. Some of the veggies were very fresh, some were pickled. A taste surprise when biting into one that was fermented. Great presentation.  Jammy Eggs. My wife and son raved about this dish, I abstained as I'm not a big fan of boiled eggs in any form. High marks from them as all the eggs were devoured.  Hash fries with olive aioli. Pretty weird but very good. Hash browns compressed into rectangular bars and fried. Very hot. We ate half and the remainder went into the doggy bag.  Fried Chicken Drumsticks. Very nice, Korean type spice and glaze. Well cooked, I hate when drumstick's are not fully cooked. These were awesome, and full sized, not from a miniature chicken.  Meat Balls. Pretty good, had a classic meatball taste. Came with a sumac creme fraiche that complimented the whole taste. I usually prefer a meatball to be well cooked throughout but Stephanie liked the somewhat rare centers. Three meatballs about the size of a golf ball.  Cacio E Pepe. A nice pasta that resembles small spaghetti. Very tasty, the buttery sauce was excellent.  Yukon Gold Baked Potato. Easily one of our favorites. Topped with creme fraiche and chives. Raclette cheese bonded everything together in a delicious fashion. Be aware that this is probably only a half potato splayed open face. Broccolini. This dish is pretty much just well cooked fresh broccoli. I really liked it, even though I had but one spear. Buttery flavor. Poached Alaskan Halibut. I was a bit hesitant as Halibut is a perfect fish for grilling. Not sure about poaching. The first thing I noticed was how generous the portion was. I'm getting accustomed to the microscopic size of the fish dishes from other restaurants. This was large enough for two people. Even though the poaching made the fish look very sterile and washed it was cooked perfectly and the meat flaked apart nicely. Wonderful flavor. The fish had no spices on its own, not even lemon. I could appreciate just the delicate Halibut taste, but mostly I ate it with the provided sweet corn succotash which was excellent.  Roasted Pineapple Upside Down Cake. This has a lot going on taste wise. Almost decadent for a dish with no chocolate. Black pepper ice cream, really? Hey, it works. I enjoyed this dessert as did the others.Happy Birthday Harley.On a return visit several days later I noticed that the meatballs were cooked thoroughly just the way I like them. The Chef came to our table and introduced himself. I brought a magnum of 2002 Marilyn red table wine and there was no corkage fee on Wednesday. This made me much more willing to pay the 3% optional service fee (See photo of check). The New York steaks were awesome, but I wonder how much juice is lost by serving the steaks sliced? Also missed the ritual of cutting into the steak. The medium lamb chops came out looking a bit red but they were perfect melt in your mouth tender. One chop was an inch thick with an end cut that made the chop vary from medium well to medium rare. I loved this one and savored it, so delicious. The Tomahawk Elk was good but it is wild elk. There was a bit of gristle in there. Flavor with the glaze was great, but at the price I probably will never order it again. Pecan pie was wonderful, reminded me a little of Derby Pie, except the Derby Pie at Churchill Downs is really nothing but cornstarch and sugar with a few nuts on top. My new favorite place for dinner in Laguna Beach! They have a great menu with lots of unique dishes. The steaks sounded great but I went for the 1/2 rack of lamb. Glad I did! It was the best lamb I've ever had!  I was too full for dessert,  so I shared a piece of the  homemade pecan pie ;) They serve it with Backyard bee's honey ice cream; let me tell you, it was the bees knees! We had the jammy eggs, fried halloumi cheese, hash fries, grilled avocado, and the Yukon gold baked potato with caviar. We sat at the chef's counter and everything looked wonderful, but we just couldn't eat more. My hospitable Hemingway cocktail was great, and the wines by the glass selection was eclectic but accessible. We chatted with Chef Greg Daniels and his kitchen experts and it's clear they have a passion for inventive food and trying new ideas, without being gimmicky or overwrought.
