Brittany is an awesome stylist/colorist and person! She really listened to and worked hard to get me just the hair color I wanted. She's great with red hair!! All the other people in Happy are friendly, welcoming, and courteous; I always get offered a cup of coffee, still or sparkling water. This is truly a happy place. I'm an introvert with an extrovert's job description, so the last thing I want to do on my day off is be stuck in a salon chair having to talk to someone I don't know. I was in real need of a haircut and a friend recommended Happy. I was able to book an appointment with Sonya so I went in thinking I'd just get it over with but it was WONDERFUL. Six stars! I went back again and am just so totally impressed with Angelia and her amazing gifts of not only color wizardry but also her kindness and ability to make me laugh. She helps me look as good as possible and the experience is oh so positive. From Becky who greets you to everyone working there, being at Happy Salon is a happy time. Magic happens here. Hair magic - as in I got a haircut but my hair looked longer! And the color? Perfect despite my total inability to properly describe what I wanted. For years I drove by this salon thinking I ought to try it one day. When my stylist at another salon cancelled on me last minute and I was in a bind for a wedding, I called Happy and they were able to get me in the next morning (they even had one appointment left same-day, but I was at work). I was slightly apprehensive because the stylist I was paired with was a "protege," I couldn't find any reviews on her...and I'm unintentionally really high maintenance when it comes to my hair. My hair is ungodly thick and unruly, so I'm often left disappointed after a haircut. Much to my surprise, my stylist, Allison, gave me the best haircut of my entire existence. She was very personable and easy to talk to, always kept me informed of what she was going to do with my hair next, and checked in to make sure that's what I envisioned. It's been a couple weeks since my cut and I still look at myself with heart eyes when I pass a mirror. So HAPPY that I found Happy--and especially Allison! More...

I absolutely love this place! The staff is kind and welcoming, they listen to you and what you want, and provide quality service. I came in today with a disaster of a haircut (I made the poor decision of going somewhere other than Happy) and Lauren was so helpful. She was able to keep the length I desired while fixing the sloppy job someone else had done. Never will I ever make the mistake of going somewhere else. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Happy Salon! You simply cannot go wrong. The talent, atmosphere, and total experience is worth my drive from Dripping Springs. You feel pampered and appreciated from the minute you arrive until you are transformed into a prettier version of yourself, grab a few items from their makeup and hair/skincare line and leave. Such a lovely little bungalow salon! My friend used to do my hair, and when I moved I avoided getting a cut or color for about a year. Finally I was like, “girl get yourself together and go get a touch up!” I was nervous to try a new place but I decided to go here based on it being Aveda, reviews and, to be honest, the name! Happy Salon will not disappoint.  From the front staff, those who shampoo or rinse you, and the most importantly the quality of work, you'll be happy you chose Happy.  Being new in Austin I drove past a few times before looking online, and then went through the bios of the stylists.  I was lucky enough to choose Sonya, she is amazing.  She is so present, listens to what you want, describes back so you know she is clear, and then executes better than you imagined your hair in the first place!  After my first hair cut I was getting a compliment almost daily!  Her coloring skills are amazing, too.  I normally color myself, never seeing much difference in the job I could do myself - but not this time.  She brought out highlights that were perfect for my skin tone and coloring.  All that and she's a great conversationalist, is fun, interesting and interested.   The whole salon has a great, warm vibe, is brightly lit and comfortable.  I am now moving from Austin, but when I go back to visit I will be stopping in to see Sonya for a haircut without a doubt. I've been to a handful on salons in Austin over the years growing up here and this one is by far the best. It almost feels like home when you walk in, if my home were to ever smell this good. I have such a hard time getting my hair cut. I've been growing it out for 3 years....I decided to try to achieve the "Miley Cyrus" cut in 2014. And that wasn't my favorite decision in life. Lol., Growing these locks out seems so hard and getting it cut seems like such a A step backwards! So my ends were a bit frazzled from the fear of cutting my hair! Lol., I saw Jennifer, showed her a few photos, let her know that I don't want to cut much...maybe an inch and a half? I really wanted to get rid of my dead ends. She recommended a conditioning treatment...of course ill do it! I received a lovely scalp, hand and arm massage at the wash bowl. We went back to start the cut and once we finished that she styled with gorgeous full curls and the finish result was like "WA-LA." So perfect, SO SOFT, SO SHINY...and even better, we didn't lose much length. It's like she literally only cut what was needed! I'm so happy. I even referred my sister to Jennifer, that's serious. She also got a cut and color and was in love with her hair, and Jennifer! The receptionist was such a doll too! Loved the salon and the ladies. Where do I begin? I called Happy 3 days before Christmas in hopes that by some miracle they could fit me to help fix what my previous stylist at another salon had screwed up on. I was leaving town the next day and needed it to be done pronto. They completely accommodated me within 2 hours of calling. I was matched up with Kat and I honestly couldn't be happier. After a haircut from a previous salon just days earlier I was super nervous to even go anywhere and just deal with bad hair cut. I'm growing out a pixie and as most women know it's a pain in the ass. This is my favorite salon in Austin. I've been seeing Brittany for a few years now and she always helps me find exactly what I want in a hairstyle and delivers. The salon service is top notch too. You'll always be greeted, offered a beverage ( try the aveda hot tea it's amazing! ) and treated like a spa guest the entire time. Kasey is the girl! I have had a million different colors in my hair and a handful of stylists and I truly feel I have found my forever stylist. Being someone who loves fun colors I can be quick to jump the gun with things I want and I feel that Kasey always keeps the integrity of my hair as a first priority. Sonya is great! Love the way she asks me questions about my hair, pays attention to what I like and delivers. I was lucky to discover Happy Salon, and Sonya Arrambide-Maxwell, when I first moved to Austin in August, 2011. Sonya is hands down the best colorist and stylist I've ever met. ..and I've lived all over the country so I have a lot to compare her with. Besides her hair talents, Sonya is such a joy to spend time with when I'm in her chair. The salon itself radiates warm, cozy, artistic, healing energy, and has lovely rotating art exhibits. I have been coloring my hair for quite some time and I have been to numerous salons. This one by far is the best. The Aveda products they use are amazing and the staff is always professional. I have blonde hair and I see Kendall to color it and she has done an incredible job. Today is another great hair day! Brittany Baranowski has been coloring my hair for easily 5 years and cutting it for about 2. Her work is beautiful. I feel pretty and younger every time I see her. We're growing my curly hair out and she's helped me finally get it past my shoulders. And my color-- there's NO color line as beautiful as Aveda.And-- as a 20 year Aveda girl-- I know my Aveda services! Megan Solonika has done 3 facials for me so far.
