I was going to Hawaii for a week and needed someone to watch my little terrier mix. I had him booked for a week with my local vet who offers boarding services for dogs. I kept saying to myself that I wanted more for him because I figured he would only be in a cage in the back room for who knows how long and only taken out a few times to pee or a small walk around the facility's parking lot. I wanted more for "lucky". I found Happi Dogs on yelp and spoke to Emily. She came to my house to meet and greet and I could tell right away she was a friendly dog person. I felt comfortable enough to hire her to watch lucky. I knew he was going to be somewhere like HOME which was key to me. She has a son that I can tell was going to play with lucky and love lucky because he was excited to see him when I dropped him off and lucky loves to play and cuddle. So long story short, she sent me pictures of him and let me know he was doing just fine while I was out there and I barely thought of him in Hawaii because I knew he was in such great hands. Couldn't be happier with the service that Emily provided our 1 year old Yorkie! I was so nervous about sending him to a boarding facility but when I found Emily and in our city it made it a little easier. I messaged her through here and she responded within 30 mins and provided me with great valid questions about my pup to better understand him. She even offered to meet him at our home so she can familiarize herself with him in his own environment. She is very punctual and very polite. I explained to her that our pup has had some medical issues the last few months and would need to have medication administered which proved to be no problem by Emily. She has great communication skills and very understanding about my anxiety about leaving him for a few days. Leading up to our vacation she promised she would send pictures of his day and found that he got along well with her and her dogs. We were so delighted to see pictures on our vacation making it much easier for us to know that he is well taken care of. Move over dog kennel businesses, make way!!!Happi Dogs is here to stay...Emily(the owner) was so gracious & accommodating to our 2 chihuahuas. Especially with this last minute booking(things didn't work out at a local kennel). As our minds were at ease with Emily's care, we were able to enjoy our holiday travels. With this booking, we got daily photo/video updates. The dogs clearly enjoyed Happi Dogs. When we finally picked them up, they were screaming to stay. Happi Dogs is such a happy place!?!?! After extensive research for a local dog sitter/boarder/etc... I stumbled upon Emily’s website & spectacular services. And needed a place with a home environment(kennels make me nervous). So I booked with Happi Dogs & my 2 chihuahuas are THRILLED. Whenever Polar & Fanta go & come back, they’re beyond joyous. Emily was super accommodating. My friend that was supposed to dog-sit from Saturday 8 AM until Sunday evening. On Friday at 4pm I texted my friend to confirm. I didn't get a response so I texted again at 7pm and called at 11pm, still no response. Not sure if my friend completely forgot or what, but I began to panic, afraid that I wouldn't find a replacement last minute. I called a bunch of places on Yelp, but everyone was either asleep/closed or it was too last minute. Emily was the only one that actually picked up at 11:30 PM, tried to understand my last minute situation, and was super helpful and accommodating. She agreed to take in my 15lb pomeranian/papillon mix early next morning. I also sent my proof of vaccinations late because my vet was closed and could not send it over until later on Saturday.Turned out that my friend "went to sleep early" and was still ok the next morning, but by then I had already committed to Emily who was much more reliable. Emily was a lifesaver. Needed a dog sitter last minute for the weekend and luckily Emily was there to save the day!I contacted her and she wanted to come to my house to meet Nyla first before she agreed to take her in. She answered all questions and concerns I had. She also agreed to let me come to her house and bring Nyla to sniff out the place. Her house is very clean and dog friendly (dog bowls ready with clean water).I was still very hesitant to leave my baby with a stranger but Emily would send periodical updates with pictures. Nyla who is very skittish and distrustful of strangers, sat on her lap the first day! I was very surprised but very relieved. Emily has a very calm presence about her which helped with Nyla's anxiety and I'm very grateful for that. Next time I go out of town, I'd definitely call Emily again.Also, Emily mentioned she and her family hasn't gone on vacation in such a long time because she said too many people and too many dogs depend on her. Emily has been walking my 2 dogs twice a week for a few months and I have been thrilled with her services. One of my dogs is very fearful and does not trust new people easily but Emily was not deterred and put in the effort to work with her and build a positive relationship, and I feel comfortable that both dogs are getting the exercise and attention they need. We needed a dog sitter at the last minute and not knowing anyone to provide this service, in Richmond, I resorted to Yelp. Emily has so many positive reviews, I reached out to her. Her communication is through texting and she is very responsive. Upon leaving Lucy with her, I received a text with photos and how she was received well, by the other dogs. within 5 min. After a few years of boarding our Chocolate Lab and Pug together at a local Richmond veterinarian, they discontinued boarding with no explanation. This left us in a bit of a pinch as we needed someone to be available for boarding our dogs together and giving them enough attention that they would not come back home traumatized.After a search here on Yelp, I found Emily and based on her initial reviews, decided to give her a chance. From the beginning, Emily was very engaged with interest. She was very communicative about what she offered, prices, and parameters of being able to take in our dogs while we were out of town. In advance of boarding our dogs with Emily, she requested a meet-and-greet of us and the dogs at our house, a free consultation, whereas she could get a good feeling for the personalities of the animals in their own environment and also to know us better. I found this to be of good significance so she knew what she was getting herself into, so to speak.After our meet-and-greet, Emily had requested us bring the dogs for an overnight at her home, at boarding rates, and the next day we discussed the outcome of how they settled in.We have since boarded our dogs with Emily on 2 occasions of approximately 1.5 week timespans and will do so ahead in the future. The simple fact that the dogs are given lots of attention, not kept in cages in a noisy vet office and are allowed to be themselves and occasionally interact with others at her house is the main reason why they come home 'Happi' as the business name implies.I would highly recommend Emily over a corporate boarding chain or veterinary office or any other larger business simply for the quality of care, the frequent check-ins during our time away, and our dogs coming home stress-free and relaxed.Thanks Emily!Steve and Michelle More...

We happened upon Happi Dogs (via Yelp) about 6 months ago when I was in need of a dog walker once a week for our new puppy. When Emily came over to meet our pup, and us, I immediately knew our puppy was in good hands. She is very organized, communicative and thorough, and our dog loves her. And she texts pictures of our dog on their adventures together! We've since boarded our dog at Emily's house a couple of times and it's reassuring knowing he is being very well taken care of. My partner & I just adopted our 10-pound terrier mix, Penny, from a rescue a few months ago and have not left her with others very much, mostly friends for a few hours, so we were pretty nervous about finding someone trustworthy for her first doggy sleepover. Fortunately I found Emily at Happi Dogs on Yelp! From the moment I contacted her she was super communicative, friendly, and professional. She came over for an initial meeting, and Penny immediately took to her and even jumped on her lap! Emily has a very mellow, sweet, and patient nature and I immediately knew Penny would be safe and happy with her. Emily also has two dogs of her own that are about the same size as Penny, and from the pics she sent they got along great, and probably distracted her from missing us so much. My husband and I needed to find a local sitter for our 2 dogs while we were on vacation and I am so happy we found Emily! She communicated really well about logistics and even came to my house for a meet and greet . She texted pictures to keep me updated and was really flexible when my work schedule made it so that my husband had to handle the pickup and drop off. Our guy had such a good time with Emily and her family! It was our first dogsitting experience so I was nervous, but there was nothing to worry about. We got photos texted to us daily, updates on what he had been up to, and were always reassured that everyone (humans and dogs) were enjoying each other's company. Emily was fabulous! I contacted her last minute because the boarding company we usually use was booked and she was super quick to respond. She told me she had space during the weekend and was able to schedule a visit at her house the same day so she could meet my dog. She is so professional and her love for animals shows. I can tell she has an all around kind heart. When I dropped my dog off he seemed hesitant that he was being left behind and wasn't coming with us, but Emily took him in and made him comfortable then sent me many updates and pictures to ease my worry. I was looking for a dog boarding spot for my little Marley before my family vacation and I emailed two places Happi dogs was one of them. Emily responded back to us pretty quickly. So we set up a time to meet with her, so she can get acquainted with us and Marley. She is super friendly and we met her dog mama who is super cute and sweet. I found Emily about a few months ago and am so happy with her work. Not only did she ask for a meet-and-greet--which I would've requested regardless--but she also is quick to respond to messages. I have quite a spastic Boston, and Emily has no problem working with her. She comes weekly to take my little one on a short walk and stays to play with her. My dog loves her. Emily always checks in with a text, too.I love that her rates are less expensive than the norm, which is a big help for me; otherwise, I wouldn't be able to take advantage of her services very often. I was nervous for my pup's first time at doggy day care. It was very last minute, but Emily was able to take us (the larger facilities I called with many dogs typically needed a week or more notice for meet and greets). Emily did all the things that made me feel comforted and at ease. She spoke on the phone and texted with me beforehand to answer my questions. She got all the emergency contact info and asked about shots, allergies, etc. I have a 55 lbs. pit bull (who incredibly sweet, but people are afraid of her size/bad rep)... Emily's first reaction: "what a sweet baby!" My dog took to her RIGHT away. Emily allowed us into her home where her family and dog lives. It was storming on the day I needed to leave my pup with her, and she even took her for a walk when there was a window of no rain. She sent photos and an update in the middle of the day too! Like other reviewers said, Emily clearly loves and understands dogs. Emily's kindness, professionalism, and communication melted all my worries away. Emily took great care of my 2 large dogs while I went out of town for 2 weeks. Her pricing was much more reasonable than boarding facilities which were very loud & Emily was able to provide a home setting were the dogs were safe & well taken care of.

We had such a great experience with Emily at Happi Dogs. We were leaving for an almost 3 week vacation and our sitter fell through a couple days before Labor Day weekend. Emily was able to meet our pup Bebe the night before we left and told us she'd be able to take her for the duration of our trip. Emily is wonderful with my dog. Coby did not like a lot of other people and did not want to go on walks. I contacted Emily. She came over and met all three of my dogs. Coby took to her so fast.
