I had Handyman Matters install the carport I purchased from Home Depot. It required the pouring of 6 footings and construction of the metal frame and then sliding in clear plastic roof sections and screwing them down, then caulking the gutters. I was told this whole process was supposed to take 2 days during the last week in October. The project didn't start until the second week of November and took 9 days. I realize there was a holiday weekend in the middle of the process but by then the days had gotten cold and dark early. At the end I had to remove my own trash, and lost my tarp that covered the carport boxes for over a month in my yard in the process. The carport looks good but I have to caulk the gutters it myself. I was not offered an Angie's list discount and I have used Handyman matters before. The job is done and that is what counts. More...

I purchased a full day of service for getting my grandmother's home ready for sale. They took care of a bunch of small repairs and some touch up painting. I loved the full day special which they offered since we had a set budget in mind. They told me to prioritize my list so they could make sure the most important things were done but we were pleasantly surprised that they got to just about everything on the list! We had Handyman Matters repair some severe rot on the exterior of our house (we didn't realize how severe until after the siding came off), and I couldn't have been happier with the experience or the end result. Handyman Matters dealt with the increased scope of the work professionally, and communication was always clear and expectations reasonably set. I contracted with HM to patch part of a wall & ceiling in two bathrooms where a framed-in light had been removed. So, it was a drywall & plaster job, but involved several corners and edges in a well-lit area. The results were excellent. I was totally satisfied with the look and the quality. It did turn out to take HM longer than they anticipated so it came in over the quoted price, but the contractor worked constantly and took few breaks, so I understood and accepted the overage. The initial visit and quote was within 24 hrs of my first call, but there was a delay in starting the job beyond when they initially planned due to a prior project running long. Communication with me could have been better on that.

Kelly arrived promptly and completed the work within the estimated time.  He had all the small supplies with him that were needed to complete the job without delays.  The office staff is friendly and helpful too.  The only thing I wasn't happy about is that I found out at time of payment that there was a surcharge for paying by credit card.  This is something that should have been mentioned up front. The tech that came out to do the work was a real stand up guy (Marion).  He did great work and was a really nice guy.  They are a little costly though and they charged me the standard fee for the two adjacent units I had him working on even though it was on the same day.  This way of doing business makes the customer feel taken advantage in my personal opinion. I called Handyman Matters this Fall to help with a long to do list to get ready to move.  I found them to be very professional, problem solving and efficent in fixing and repairing all my issues.  I was very satisfied with their work and they were a pleasure to work with.  After are initial project, I have hired them for three other projects ranging from fixing cabinetry, installing carpet, and cleaning gutters.  I would definitely hire them again.  I found them to be very affordable  because it would have taken me hours to do what they could do very quickly and professionally. We were very pleased with the work we had done. After our initial estimate, they were able to schedule time within a week. We had a list of 7 home repair and maintenance items which took two days to complete. The work included drywall/plaster repairs, a railing/landing constructed for our basement stairs, and part of our sagging/squeaky floor shored up. The workman -- Aron -- was punctual, very friendly, and an expert craftsman. He was very thorough in his set-up, making sure everything was taped off with plastic to keep the saw dust and plaster from spreading around the house. While working on the house, he alerted us to other maintenance issues we were unaware of. The clean up was excellent also. Our house was left in good condition. For the few small items (like adding a door knob and weather strip) he couldn't get to, he left us instructions and materials to finish the job. We would definitely use this company again. More...
