This is a great diner with a huge selection. There was a line to be seated when we got there, but it moved pretty quickly. Went for a ride and stopped in.Nice looking Diner and clean.Had the burger medium - It came out perfectly - Had a nice charred taste - Will order again - Reasonably pricedTried the Nachos (HUGE) - Had tortilla chip (crisp), chili, guacamole, tomatoes, sour cream, jalapenos etc - Order this for four people to share !

Stopped by for an early dinner. Seated promptly and drink order was immediately taken. Ordered the prime rib medium rare, came with choice of potato, had to go mashed, a vegetable and salad. The salad came out within minutes. Quite a big garden salad too. Plenty of additions on it, not just one slice of onion and tomato. By the time I was 3/4 of the way through the salad. My meal came out. The prime rib was a nice size portion, not too much fat. It was cooked closer to medium, but still good. The mashed potatoes were fresh. For $19, it was a great meal, couldn't finish it all, so I now have a nice breakfast to wake up to. 4 stars only because the rib wasn't cooked to what I asked for and the stewed green beans were more crushed tomatoes than beans. I visited the Hampton Diner with a friend recently and I have to say I was impressed by how fast they came out with our food. Well, we only ordered chicken fingers and fries and quesadillas and waffle fries, but still, record time! My quesadillas were what I expected them to be. (2017) Service was excellent and the food was delicious.  Had 10 oz sirloin steak and chicken franchise- nice portions and good price (Early Bird) Been coming here for some years.  Senior's menu was great- large portions.  Lentil soup was delicious,  broccoli was fresh,  jello and seven layer cake were huge.  Lots of sharing food and taking home for next day.  Steaks were delicious today (Very reasonable prices. Kudos to Hampton Diner. I planned a baby shower for my daughter. Two days before the shower, the restaurant that was to host the shower had to close because of bad weather. Hampton diner accepted our party of more than 20 people with a few days notice. They were very accommodating in helping us decorate and cut and serve the cake we brought. The food came out together and was hot and well prepared. Pitchers of water on the tables and kids cups with lids. Amanda the waitress and the bus boy who's name I didn't get were amazing. The wifey and I had errands to run in Newton and stopped at the Hampton Diner for a quick bite.  I ordered a cup of French Onion soup and a bacon-bleu cheese burger.  My wife got Disco fries (Jersey style, kiddies!) The onion soup was perfectly decadent... gooey provolone cheese,  sweet broth loaded with onions, a crispy crouton... messy and delicious!My burger arrived and it was a thing of beauty!  8 ounces of beef sitting on a Jersey hard roll with lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, blue cheese crumbles, and loads of crispy bacon.  I'm a pretty hearty eater and I ... Came here for the first time today. Huge diner with a lot of seats, which was awesome because we got seated for four right away. Menu is pretty large and the pricing and amount of food is great. When our waiter came out and took our drink order right away. He came back with my coffee spilled all over the saucer and the creamers and then looks at me and says he forgot a spoon and he will be right back. He never came back with the spoon and I had to use my napkin to sop up the spilled coffee, which he didn't seem to pay attention to either (eventually I just got up and went to the waiter prep station and grabbed my own napkins since he was oblivious). After the drinks came out we waited a really long time for the waiter to come back. So long that another party had been seated, ordered and were almost finished with their meals before he showed back up, which I just consider to be poor on this waiters part. We eventually ordered the following: corned beef hash and eggs, Taylor Ham (pork roll) egg and cheese sandwich, a blt, Mexican breakfast quesadilla and pumpkin pancakes. The food was the bomb. Eggs done perfect with the corned beef hash. Mexican breakfast quesadilla was something we wanted to try. Chorizo, jalapeño, eggs and cheese and it had a bit of a kick to it. If you don't like the spice, you might want to pass but it was absolutely delicious. Egg, cheese and Taylor ham sandwich was great and the BLT was really huge for the price! The pumpkin pancakes were also delicious. They weren't dry and they had a sweet taste to them. So once the food got there all was good but they might need to address some of the wait staff and their work habits as ours seemed to be off in another world at times. He was nice but I prefer efficient and attentive. If you're craving some great diner food, this is the place to go! Came here with the family while out running errands. First time here and their first impression was excellent. Our waitress was great and attentive and the menu items were plentiful to say the least. I had the egg white omelette with spinach and chicken and home fries which was done perfectly. Potatoes were crispy and not oily and the omelette had huge chunks of white meat chicken in it. Wife had the roast beef panini which was delicious and the soup that came with it (chicken noodle) was perfectly seasoned and I season my food pretty aggressively. My son had the Taylor ham and pancakes and couldn't finish it all partly because the serving was huge and he was also picking on mommy's fries. I am amending a review I posted in October 2016.Since then we have returned to the Hampton Diner to "give it another shot" as it's close by. The place is much improved in my opinion with the food being consistently good and the serving staff very improved also.  It is also very clean with a nice counter if you prefer that.There is a waitress there named Danny who is most excellent.I'm glad we tried it again. You know, it's a diner...this is NJ and we have a ton of them. This is one of the better ones in the area, if not the best one. They give you a ton of food. If you go in for lunch and want a sandwich, you will get a SANDWICH! I had a turkey and avocado sandwich today and it was piled to the sky with freshly carved turkey...I couldn't even finish half of it. It tasted fine, like turkey and avocado and that was about it though, some seasoning wouldn't have killed it although it did come with melted swiss cheese which I asked not to have on it. Included with my lunch was soup (I had a matzo ball soup, was ok wasn't hot and the broth was salty as heck but the ball was good), a choice of pasta salad, fries or fruit (I had the fruit, it was mixed melon, citrus fruit and grapes). I also got a choice of dessert which I declined but got to take home a slice of cake which my son enjoyed very much. I've been to 140+ diners in NJ now and this is fairly average.  It's not amazing but definitely not terrible either.  Our waiter was fairly new but friendly.  I was disappointed he brought us the check and never asked if we wanted dessert.  I did, but he disappeared so it was more trouble than it was worth.  However, the beverages and food were good.  The food came out extremely fast and our coffee was constantly refilled.  I ordered the banana pancakes and they were good.  There were plenty of bananas in the pancakes.  My friend ordered a chicken sandwich which seemed a bit dry and bland. I'm surprised Hampton (Newton) Diner is only averaging 3 stars.  Having grown up in Morris County, where there is an excess of excellent diners, I have been carefully evaluating the options in Sussex County since moving here.  Hampton Diner ranks at the top.  It is the closest think to a "Greek diner experience" that you'll find in the area, and its food is quite good.  I have tried several different breakfast dishes, all excellent.  The California Wrap is also delicious.  The coffee is consistently good, and the service is prompt and friendly.  The space is also pleasant, larger than most other diners in Sussex County.  My only complaint would be that they recently got rid of their iconic Izabella Fortune Teller machine (aka "Izabella Fortunes" on Facebook)!!  My wife and I loved experiencing this strangely out-of-place Americana.  Please bring it back!  We paid her for our fortune on every single visit to your diner. I visit this diner all the time with my boyfriend and it is absolutely my favorite. Its convenient because its right on Route 206 and it is quick, regardless of how many people are in the diner. The food has always been excellent every time we go and the service is just as good. I usually get the cheese quesadilla without anything else in it, so they always add extra cheese in for me and it always taste amazing. Stopped in this diner with a buddy and my service dog. They brought her a bowl of water and made me a couple of pieces of chicken for her as well. I had the chicken & avocado salad and it was delicious. My buddy had the triple-decker turkey sandwich and loved it. Stopped in the other night with my wife for dinner and a drink. It's not often that you find customer service like this in our area. The service was top notch, incredibly fast, and everyone was friendly and genuine. Several vegetarian options on the menu, most of which are dairy free as well. I had a great experience eating here and will definitely be back. we live on the opposite side of the county but from now on when we think Diner, this is where we will be going. My dad comes here about 4 times a month, maybe more. It's pretty convenient with good food. Nothing fancy, but it's delivered quickly and they have a large selection. They also have a decent bar and you can order shots or drinks at any time. They stay open late!Their orders are usually pretty big, so you can take them home as leftovers. Ok I think this is the best diner in sussex county.... I came here today for a quick lunch with my girlfriend. They have a soup & half a sandwich lunch special for $6. 99 and that includes dessert!
