About

I specialize in tough but simple training to help guys over 40 overcome age, injury, and a busy schedule so they can maintain a vigorous physical practice and enjoy an active life.

In the last 10 years, I've had to deal with knee surgery, a physical job, and the effects of getting older.

Q&As

I believe in tough but simple strength training and daily movement, combined with simple, easy to follow nutrition guidelines.

I'm available online and in person.

For online coaching, I set up a free consultation via Zoom in order to find out your goals and to find out what kind of equipment you can access.
Then, using the TrueCoach app, your individual training program is sent straight to your phone. There are in-app videos demonstrating exercises, and through the app you can contact me with questions or send video from your workout to check form.

You get simple, easy to follow nutrition guidelines.

Most importantly, you will have access to a coach who will hold you accountable to stick with the plan. We do this by continuing to meet via Zoom on a monthly basis to answer questions, address issues, and make changes to the plan based on changing goals or circumstances.

To get results, you need the discipline to consistently show up to do the work, no matter how you feel.

My job is to understand what you want and give you a simple plan that will get you there, and make sure you follow it.

If I don't think I can help you with your personal goal, I'll say so (for example, if you want to be a competitive powerlifter, I'm the wrong guy).

Keep it simple, make it tough, and show up one day at a time.

Helping people by sharing the lessons I've been learning since I was 14.

Some of those lessons have come in the gym, some on the field, and some in books.

Socrates said, "No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.”
I would love to help you with that.

It wasn't inspiration. I had to learn to train myself, and realized it would be a great way to help others.
In the past, I've hired trainers who did a consultation, and then ignored everything I said. They had one way to work, and the corporate gym wanted them to make a sale, and then they tried to plug me into that formula.
I don't want to follow someone else's formula.
I want to help people achieve their own individual goals, using methods that I know can work.

We should choose each other. I'll listen to what you want, and if I can help, I will. I won't lie to you and try to fit you into what I do if it isn't right for you.

I absolutely can. I currently offer a 12 week program designed for online coaching. I use an app called TrueCoach, which allows us to communicate back and forth through the phone. You get your program delivered each week, and can message me any questions through the app. There are videos of all the exercise you will do, and you can send me videos if you feel you need your form checked.

I'm still training people who don't feel comfortable in the gym outside in Prospect Park. While my online programming can be tailored to gym workouts, I can also tailor online training to a home gym set up without minimal equipment.
