I walked in not knowing what to expect, maybe thinking this was a salon that caters exclusively to women. However, upon meeting with staff, I delevoped a rapport with one of their stylists, Taylor. This gorgeous being did such a fantastic job on my hair, I've been going to her for almost 2 years now. Great service, reasonable prices, and super friendly staff! It's the feel of a high end salon with mid-grade prices. I've paid the same amount for a haircut here as i did at the John Jay beauty school, and my stylist here did a much better job!

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of a mani + pedi at Albert Brown Salon, located Uptown on Magazine Street. First of all, let me say how cool this salon is overall. When you walk in, you enter an atmosphere of really positive energy, creativity, art and antiques. There is a great vibe among the stylists, customers, staff, and manager. And everyone, from customers to staff, is so warm and inviting. Albert Brown Salon has the ideal combination in a salon--both intimate and appropriately professional. The mani + pedi service is like no other I have experienced. In a word, Wow! Claudia, my manicurist, was meticulous and efficient. Love love LOVE my balayage by Reneé. I gave her a bunch of vague descriptions of warm, caramel, red (but not too red), light (but not too light) lol! And the result was just gorgeous. Highly recommend!  Great salon for event-worthy looks. Several artists are wonderful but I keep going back to Kelly who is incredible with makeup AND hairstyling. Whether I am a guest at the Film Fest Midnight Garden Gala or walking with Krewe of Cork as "Wine-der Woman" (farthest to the right), Kelly always gives me a fabulous look that transforms me appropriately...with flair. Lauren was communicative, fun and did a great job! I'm so lucky to have chosen wisely! We just moved to the area and I chose Albert Brown strictly by checking a few reviews and the Salon's proximity to my home. Jackpot! Pleasant atmosphere, true creative specialists and loved the hostess at the front counter who brought me a cold water as I was seated to wait. Albert Brown Salon is the best! I went to Albert since I was a child and after he retired I started using all the different stylists. You can't go wrong with any of them. I am an event coordinator and it is the only place I send brides for their wedding hair and makeup. They are offering spray tans now and the sprayer Skylar is very good. I always love browsing the fun accessories for sale too. Highly recommend! More...

My hair is extremely thick, dry, and course. Ive lived a lifetime of struggle with accepting this hair. I searched for a steady salon to commit myself to for about 3 years. I tried all of the top trendy salons throughout the city. I met Madeline at an event, and I've been committed to her fantastic hair services ever since. Haircuts, last minute hair styles, braids, conditioning treatments, and Brazilian blowouts, Madeline makes my hair healthy and happy. Our conversations are great, the atmosphere of the salon is relaxing, and my hair continues to improve with each visit. I love vintage hair styles, and Madeline has given me the most lovely styles sometimes on such short notice and I couldn't be more grateful. I had a Brazilian blowout with Arthur last week. In my 6 years of blowouts, Arthur's has been the best thus far. I've washed my hair twice now since the blowout and my hair remains effortless to wear down in this awful humidity! I've been naturally drying, too. In addition to the awesome blowout, everyone was so friendly and fun. I even met Albert himself, who thanked me many times for trying his salon. They even offered to get me food since I would be there for two hours- which is hardly a long time for a Brazilian blowout. The salon itself is very peaceful, too. I have gone to Kelly for the last 3 1/2 years and I must say she is absolutely amazing. When I first went to see her my hair was a mess from a previous hairdresser who had just completely fried my hair. As you all know it is so hard to find a really good hairdresser that wants to help you feel and look your best. The first time I went to her, she knew exactly what color would be best for me and took her time, which I love because I know it's getting done the right way. It was a process, but I must say my hair is the healthiest it has ever been and I would never trust anyone else with my hair. I moved to California 2 years ago and fly back just to have her cut and color my hair. She also does my extensions (and no I don't need them because my hair is so healthy, I just love to have them). The best extensions I've ever had. Not only does no one ever know it's not my hair, but I get so many compliments about how beautiful it looks. When she transferred to the Albert Brown Salon I was really thrilled. I've heard so many great things about this place and it definitely lives up to its standard. Great vibe, extremely welcoming/friendly staff, who are all creative and very talented. I really can't say enough about this place or about Kelly.
