I'm terrible with names so I don't remember who was who but first of all getting my hair washed felt amazing. Mini scalp massage and everything. Chopped all my hair off and I showed a few Pinterest pics and the stylist (I think Sarah?) cut my hair to fit my face and I am in love with it. Always alittle scary when getting short hair because I feel like it would be harder to fix but no issues and it's perfect!! Fantastic experience here. I gave them a call and they were able to fit me in with in 15 minutes in the last hour before the closed. I was a little nervous trying a new place and stylist I had never been to but they did a great job. The place was clean, staff nice and they offer high quality products for sale. Tahay was the stylist that worked with me. She was able to give me a great haircut even cutting my hair dry. That has never happened. She then flat ironed it and made some adjustments. Got my hair done here and really enjoyed the time I spent here. The people were very friendly and offered me a beverage as soon as I walk through the door. They have lockers to put your things in while your getting your hair done. I got a hair consultation ahead of time so I could anticipate what the cost would be and I could meet the stylist prior to her cutting and coloring my hair.  I would definitely recommend this place and I will definitely come back here again, they use great products and treat you like royalty! My experience at Hair Talk was 100% amazing. I took the plunge and got rainbow hair for my birthday. Everyone at the salon was very helpful. There was a locker for me to store my things and I was encouraged to bring snacks for the long day - rainbow hair takes quite a while! I could plug in my kindle and phone as well. The styling chairs are very comfortable, good back support. The chairs for washing hair have good neck support and can accommodate long hair.  I worked with Migo Yoon and I recommend her highly. She went above and beyond to get my hair safely lightened to accept the vivid colors. She had great attention to detail and took her time blending the colors in each section of hair. This review is longgggg overdueee since Ive been coming here for the past 3 years. I used to do my own hair because i didn't trust anyone else to keep my bleached blonde hair healthy. From my own experience I know how hard it is to go to full platinum blonde from a natural dark brown - black asian hair. I stopped going to salons for a couple years because I always thought they would somehow find someway to charge me more than they tell me and leave my hair feeling very unhealthy. UNTILLL I found this beautiful salon. Seriously life changing. Every single employee there is sooooooo kind. I got my hair done by Migo.(The pretty lady with platinum blonde hair and hella swag) First thing we did after I sat down was talk about my past history, like which brand and color I used to do my own hair at home or if i used any box dyes in the past. Which is VERY important. Most stylists wont even ask if you had any color in the past and when your hair comes out completely different like a light lime green undertone, they will blame you and your hair and ask to bleach again to take out the green (I know because it happened to me at multiple places and they always charged me for one more bleach session) When she went through my hair in the back of my head, it looked horrible. Since I've been doing my own hair I couldn't see the back of my head but she saw all of these ugly brassy orange lines where i bleached my regrowth for the past year that i never knew about until she took pictures and showed me. She was very honest and told me she will try her best to fix my ugly uneven brassy hair. After a couple hours when we washed out my hair and blow dried it, it was sooooo clean. My hair was a perfect blonde canvas and my hair felt like virgin hair, the treatment she used was bomb, didn't feel dry or crunchy at all and it smells amazing. But for my roots we kept it a little darker. Which I completely understand, going from black to a high level blonde is a multiple step process. It doesn't happen in a couple hours/one session like magic. Its almost impossible to go so light from such dark hair (unless you're really desperate to be blonde, just don't blame them if your hair breaks off because you asked for it) I was very glad she was honest with me about that. After that day, I come here religiously every couple weeks for a touch up or every couple months for some crazy fun colors like neons! Other customers may say its very expensive compared to other places, but I'd rather pay the difference and come here to get my hair done the right/healthy way with someone I trust being fully honest with me than go somewhere cheaper and risk getting my hair breaking off looking like a raccoon. I love this place ! I had virgin hair and I came here to get my hair colored for the first time to a ash grey and it came out AMAZING. I had it done with TAHAY because she was recommended by a friend and she did an exceptional job.. Since it was my first time coloring my hair, I was really nervous and anxious that it wouldn't look good on me but TAHAY was nice enough to sit down and give her input until we came to a color that I liked and matched me . Fast forward 4 months later . I CAME BACK . I came back with a bolder color choice and guess what She nailed it AGAIN . I got a platinum ash balayage I walked out soooo happy. I was in desperate need of finding a new hairstylist after disappointing results at other salons in the area. My only regret is that I wish I had found Migo 5 years earlier. She was able to correct the brassy tones from outgrown highlights on my super dark hair. On top of that, she gave me an amazing haircut, and I've received so many compliments after seeing her. I've returned to her twice since my initial appointment for color maintenance and a regular trim. Her work is consistent and her attention to detail never lacking. As far as pricing, I feel like it's very fair the amount of work my hair entails as well as the labor involved. I've sat in her chair for almost four hours for balayage, cut, and style. Heard good things about this place so i decided to give it a try!Safe to say that it's the best salon in the Ellicott City, Maryland area! Wow.I am blown away that a place like this exists in the United States, let alone in Maryland of all places. I felt like I was transported back to Korea in all the best ways. The atmosphere, the music and the people. Everything was great.The people who work here are extremely friendly. From the moment they greet you, to when you leave, everyone is super kind, patient and attentive to detail.Based on a co workers recommendation I scheduled with Migo Lee.I've gone to so many hair salons in this Tri-State and DelMarVa area and I can confidently say Migo knows what she is doing 100%. Migo is such a talented stylist and I have been lucky enough to become one of her clients! I remember seeing a friend's Instagram post of her new cut and color, and I knew then that this was the place I wanted to go for my next hair adventure! I wanted a change, and was tired of dying my hair with the $10 boxes found at Target. I met with Migo for a consult so she could be honest with me about what she could do to transform my hair, and she broke down the process for me. Clarifying shampoo to remove drugstore product buildup from over the years and start my hair with a clean slate. Bleach to strip away those old colors. Intricate hand painted hair coloring. Multiple washes in between. A haircut to trim off the dead ends. A 5 hour process. A new me. THANK YOU so much for the attention to detail and love that you have given my hair! Migo was super friendly and pleasant, and her coworkers also jumped in to help. The receptionist and apprentices also offered coffee/tea while I waited and checked up on me frequently. Great place to get a haircut for both men and women, they do it all and are very friendly and professional.   I used to go to Supercuts, because I get a standard guy haircut, but it was very hit or miss with them, usually miss. I bought the Groupon for a cut, style, and deep conditioning treatment. I called in the morning a little after they opened  and was able to book an appointment for 1245 that same day with Angela. I cannot say enough good things about Angela! She gave me a wonderful shampoo and a gorgeous cut. I'm super picky about haircuts and feel like I always leave upset or wishing they hadn't taken so much off, but Angela gave my hair enough of a cut that it is noticeable and looks/feels fresh and healthy but not so much that I don't feel like myself. She was very friendly but not too overly talkative - a perfect balance! The one thing I will say is the deep conditioning treatment left my hair a little greasy and heavy the first few days - she warned me this would happen and I don't blame her at all, I realize it's just an effect of the product and that feeling wore off after about two washes! I have been coming to Hair Talk since I was in high school, so around nine years. Every experience I have had, has been a unique and wonderful one. Whether I am going in for a cut, hair treatment, perm, or a color job, the staff is so warm and welcoming. Not only are the people that work there kind and fun, they are so good at what they do!I walk out every appointment, feeling so pampered and beautiful. Growing up with super frizzy and unmanageable hair has always been hard for me. Since coming to Hair Talk, I've never received so many compliments about my hair. Again, everyone there knows his or her stuff very well, but if you're looking to get a color job, I would ask for Migo specifically. Every time she touches my hair, magic happens! Like most other people on Yelp, I review comments before checking out new places, and I read through a lot of the reviews for Hair Talk before purchasing the groupon for hair cut/color/conditioning. I noticed a lot of 5-star reviews for Migo and otherwise, it seemed hit or miss with a few 1 star reviews recently...BUTmy fantastic experience today - not sure what happened the other days or if those people are just hard to please. In regards to some of the negative comments/reviews on this page, notably: 1.) I am not Korean, 2.) I had no language barrier issues, and 3.) I arrived early and was taken back before my appointment time.I've gone to a few salons before with Groupon deals and one thing that stood out to me at Hair Talk is that I did not feel I received any different/lesser treatment or judgment because I arrived for services with a Groupon. I was at first unsure how the experience would go (as is usually the case with new hair salons - I was scheduled with Tahay). Tahay was lovely to chat with during the appointment, she went over everything I wanted for the cut and color in the beginning. She answered all of my questions and even gave me styling tips as we went along. Since I have wavy hair, she cut my hair dry first (then trimmed it again after the color and washing/conditioning), double and triple checking with the length I wanted off (I was cutting off a good 4-5 inches and she cut less than I asked at first just to make sure I really wanted that much off - I really appreciated this instead of chopping first and asking later!). She also matched the color almost exactly to my natural hair color which I've found over the last few years extremely difficult to get from a salon. In fact, she told me the color would probably initially be too dark in order to cover red tones lower in my hair from previous dying; however, the color was perfect, and I definitely have had too-dark colorings in the past when I asked to match my natural color, and did not get a warning about it! While I was waiting for the color to set, Tahay offered a drink and brought coffee as well as a lap pillow for arm/coffee/phone support. One other thing I have to mention is the hair washing stations at Hair Talk - they are absolutely amazing with head rests so you don't have to hold your head up the whole time - I'm not sure why other salons have not done this yet!! The lockers to store belongings was a nice touch, and the bathrooms were tastefully decorated. To top off a great experience, I was in and out of the salon in just under 2 hours! I have had similar processes done at other salons and it has taken 2.5-3+ hours. All I have to say is good things about Hair Talk and Tahay, and although the price is higher than other salons, I will be back! More...

Friendly staff, customer service, and professionalism are what I believe that makes this hair salon successful.Based on my observation, and personal experience, each hairstylist never rushes to finish a client. They first take their time to consult their client's desired style, and discuss the actual result that they can guarantee. Make sure you listen to them carefully! You will not regret considering their recommendations during your consultation.They also provide helpful suggestions until your next visit, such as how to style your hair when going out, taking care of it at home, which products to use, etc..Very knowledgeable staffs here at Hair Talk, and they do their best to answer any questions you may have.What I love about this place is that each hairstylists are unique in their own way, so make sure to ask if they can help you find the stylist based on what you want to get done!From what I have witnessed from numerous visits to this salon, their customers range from different ethnicities, to different races. My experience at Hair Talk yesterday was perfect! My hair looks like it was freshly dipped in a sunset. So much love!~(V) What's even more amazing is that I've been going back for the past year (for a digital perm, all over color, cuts, trims, color melts) and it's consistent! I always leave happy with not a single hair out of place. You see, I have a secret: I used to be a chair hopper. I'm not proud of it, but I was still searching for more. I'm partly to blame with my Virgo perfectionist leanings, but I care about my hair. When I feel good about my hair, I feel like I can conquer the world. Migo takes the time she needs and doesn't take shortcuts (ahem, no razoring at every opportunity here). She moves with dexterity and skill, but you can see the consideration on her face, like an artist looking at a canvas, with every deft snip. She not only has an eye for what will look good, but the aesthetic I have in my mind's eye that I struggled to get across to past stylists--she gets it. It doesn't hurt that she's very approachable. The staff at Hair Talk have all been friendly and they've worked like a team, cooperating to make my experience enjoyable.This might be minor, but another detail I really appreciate:Show of hands: How many of you have sat in a chair at the washing stations and worried your neck might snap from the lack of support and couldn't get past it despite the tingly scalp massage? I just want to start off by saying how I'm super picky about my hair.. and I'm sure most people say this. But I'm extra picky. I live in Delaware and I come to see Migo even if it's a two hour drive because it is WORTH IT. I have damage to my hair cause I'm always messing with it. But Migo takes the time to understand my hair and it's history. She's amazing. Always leave with exactly what I want. MIGO unni is the BEST! I was a bit nervous going somewhere new since I was getting my hair done for my wedding but Migo did such an amazing job! ! During the dye job, she noticed right away that the foil on my hair was getting unusually hot and there were crystals forming. This wasn't normal and we soon found out it was due to a bad reaction with my hair after years of using well water (hard water filled with minerals that build up in your hair). She immediately acted and worked hard to save my hair for the wedding! Extra treatments and a beautiful dye job ensured that I looked best for the wedding day! Such a wonderful experience going to Migo for my new hair style and color. She was very thorough from the initial consultation all the way to the end finished product! It took 4 hours to do my hair, she was so meticulous and it was totally worth it. She took the time to make sure that each color process was flawless. It was also very relaxing when she massaged my scalp for the hair wash and conditioning. I enjoyed my full salon experience. I'm so happy to have found this place.  I got my hair cut by Migo on somewhat of a short notice--I was able to call and be squeezed in the same day.  She was ready right away, so I didn't have to wait at all.  I had pictures of the hairstyles I liked, and she was able to not only emulate them but also explain how to style them (which is something hairdressers don't always do well) so I was thrilled.  She was also able to make my super slippery, fine hair seem much fuller with a technique I've never seen before that basically involves reducing the weight of the hair by feathering it underneath (not sure if that's the right way to describe it), giving it more volume.  She also gave me the see-through bangs that I've been wanting, which are tricky to style but she made sure I was aware of that before it happened.  While I maybe felt a bit rushed by the end, since she had another appointment, Migo is definitely amazing! I also got my brows done the next day.  While they say they're open to walk ins on weekdays for waxing, that doesn't really seem to be  the case--probably better to call and schedule.  Sarah did a great job as well! If you need to color your hair, bright or neutral, light or dark, ask for Migo!! She was the first one to get what I mean when I explain a color and executes it as we've discussed! She has an amazing sense of aesthetics & colors, and is meticulous and patient, and also very fun to talk to! She truly cares about your hair and how it will look, and she'll fix something if you tell her your concerns (hate it when stylists just get defensive when you tell them something's wrong, you know?), so you can totally be honest with her. Excellent customer service. I needed to get an appointment for magic straight and coloring my hair, and they booked me right away over the phone for such a lengthy procedure and so close to closing time also. Vivian and Cindy worked so patiently and carefully with my hair (which is so damaged) and both were so friendly and attentive. I've been there five times- most recent one was for a perm. You know that beautiful wavy perm? Yup. I finally found someone who I can show a photo to, will look at it several times, ask questions, and get it right. Alex was great with my hair and he's also super friendly. He understands more English than he speaks so you should be fine if you're a non-Korean speaker. This is by far the best waves I've gotten and it took 3.5-4 hours (which is not bad at all trust me). This is the best cut and color I've ever gotten. I'm in town for a few months and needed to get my hair done since it grows so fast and the roots show after 3 weeks. I had red and black ombré, but it was growing out so I decided to try balayage. Migo did my hair. I had the formula for the dye for my roots. I told her what I was looking for and that I wanted red and blackish (the blackish is what I had the formula for since the red was a non-aveda color). She showed me the reds they had and after I picked one, spent 3 1/2 hours cutting and dying my hair, with an assistant. They were both very nice and frequently checked in to ensure I was ok and my hair was looking like I wanted it to. She also quickly styled it awesomely. My hair looks better than it ever has. This is a review from my best friend:I recommend you guys to go there and request Migo as your stylist! Everything went smooth and we talked and it was relaxing. I made a new younger brother (her assistant) lol. Everyone was super nice and friendly! I went in to get the Japanese magic straight and trim my hair a bit. She cut all my damaged parts which came to a perfect length too. I am in love wityh my hair! Cannot stop looking at it. I've gotten magic straight at other salons before, but finding a salon with a easy to talk to stylist and have no awkwardness is nice. Besides Migo did an awesome job with my hair! She listened to my request and gave me suggestions which helped a lot. She doesn't pressure you to do anything you don't want to do! I was searching for salons and not sure what to do.  I normally go to the salon that's owned by my brother in law and his wife but they were getting ready to go on vacation and I did not plan ahead to try to catch them before my own upcoming business trip.  I came across Hair Talk while searching on Yelp.  All the reviews seem to be for Migo but she must have been off on the day I had off so I picked Sarah based on other (though fewer) reviews.  No regrets.I was able to make an appointment on their website very easily.  When I arrived, I was greeted warmly and started to peruse the books/magazines trying to look for that perfect style.  I was offered a locker for my bag and the picture with the cute fuzzy balls is the locker unit.  Of course I picked the pink puffy :)  Perfect solution for keeping my bag out of harms way.Cindy washed my hair and I already knew it was going to be amazing due to other review's mention of massaging action.  I just wish it lasted longer.  I'm not saying she rushed I'm just looking for an excuse to enjoy it longer.  The hair products appear to be Aveda and I am not familiar with this product.  It smells very earthy and natural.  Cloth covering my face, music playing and the natural scents along with magical massaging fingers made the shampoo process quite relaxing.  I even like the way she tucked and wrapped the towel around me.Next I was brought to Sarah's chair.  She was great and really tried to assess my hair and my own personal comfort regarding hair maintenance, not at all suggesting something based on what she would think would work for me.  That is one problem with my brother in law and his wife- they tend to override and decide for me, no that won't look right with your hair type or your face shape, etc and just pretty much do their own thing, barely resembling the picture I had shown of what I wanted.  I didn't bring Sarah a picture but she was able to pull out an ipad and show a few samples of what she thought I was saying.  She asked me questions, let me explain and nailed it with the pic she showed me.  She gets it.As we went along, rather than making small talk, it was strictly professional and very refreshing.  Things like what is my normal routine, what products I may use, how do I part my hair.  Seems really basic right?  But this is what makes a successful haircut because who cares if she cut it exactly like a picture, I have to live with it every day and be able to recreate the look.  She was making sure that my expectations meshed and was realistic.  I really really liked that she took the time to explain things and gave me simple tips that would help improve my hair health.  Things like trying the opposite part as the other side has lost some volume.  Alternating between heat and cooler settings on the hair dryer to retain moisture.  Scrunching along the part to create more volume.  Using the flat iron from the mid section of the hair strand and not too close to the base.  It is like that commercial with the purple exploding heads... mindblown.  I have tried each of these suggestions on my own and I cannot emphasize what a tremendous difference this has made to me.I was eager to write my review right away but wanted to wait until I had tried to style it on my own, post salon visit.  I mean hair always looks great when you walk out of the salon, that's a given.  I was able to do it myself and I have gotten numerous compliments on my hair.  I can't stop touching it.  I love it.  I could have maybe gone a little shorter but it is exactly what I had asked for and now I know I can go visit Sarah when I'm ready to try that shorter look.   The second best part of my visit, I was not price gouged.  Nor did she try to push unwanted services or products on me.  She did exactly what I asked for and gave me a very fair and reasonable price as outlined on their pricing structure.  If next time you have a similar hair dilemma, go ahead to Hair Talk and try Sarah!
