I feel like time and reduced Tex Mex standards have forced me to update my review. It's been so long since I've had traditional Tex Mex that this is starting to feel more like what I've missed by living outside of Texas for too many years. I like that we can stop by and pick up a quart of salsa and fresh homemade tortillas, and I like that when I go into the restaurant the atmosphere is fun and lively. They have had some consistency issues lately, which is why 4/5 stars. I'll pick up salsa with a to-go order and there will be several 2-inch long strips of tomato or onion in the side salsa and in the quart. I know they like their salsa chunky, but when their chips cannot physically lift the tomato and onion into one's mouth because the salsa is so heavy, breaking the chip into shards, then they don't really work together. And the tableside guac sometimes is way too salty, sometimes way too lemony, and sometimes way too bland. It's like playing Russian roulette, but you're paying for the experience. This is quite a tasty restaurant. I ordered the steak and pork rib plate and both proteins were delectable and quite tender; I was very pleasantly surprised by this as most restaurants at this price point don't have the tenderness as witnessed. The pork ribs were literally fall off the bone tender and the steak doneness was prepared how I requested it.The complimentary tortilla chips and salsa were standard and freshly prepared. The tortillas accompanied with the plate were freshly prepared, warm, and soft. The rice and beans were quite good as well albeit standard fare.I can't give this a perfect rating because of the relative cost of the non-alcoholic drinks, it was nearly half the price of an entree from the brunch menu which seemed quite high to me. I have been going to Guapos for years now, I can honestly say I do not recall a time where I was disappointed. If you go in on a Friday night or weekend you can fully expect to hear them sing happy birthday a solid 10 or more times. I have tried plenty of their menu and its all good and consistent, time after time I am very pleased and clean my plate. The bar area is also really nice although like any place thats good, at certain times its packed. The main dish I order is the carne asada which is just beautiful and mouth watering, along with being fully satisfying. It's been a while since I've last visited Guapo's, but I'm glad I returned for a quick bite. The complimentary chips and salsa is some of the best I've had. The chips were slightly thinner, making them all the more crunchy, and the salsa was more on the watery side, but that didn't take away from the amazing flavor.I ordered the steak fajita which was unfortunately cooked well done, even though I asked for a medium, but it was still very tender and seasoned nicely. It also came with all of the standard toppings you were expect to find in a fajita, with my favorite being the guac. Even though the dishes was more on the pricier side, it made up for it by the sheer amount they give you. Their service was great, with the waitress paying lots of attention to our table and coming by multiple times to fill our waters, asking how our food was, and providing us with more chips and salsa when supplies ran low. I literally come here every week for happy hour and if not for happy hour then just for food with friends. I think Guapos has the best happy hour deals and their frozen margaritas are a MUST have. I've gotten lucky coming here every time not having to wait to get seated, but it does start to get busy around after 5pm. I also love that they do birthday celebrations here and whip out the big sombrero with the whole singing shabam.If you want some drink recommendations, I'm going to recommend the mango passion fruit frozen margarita. Popped in here for lunch and let me say I was not disappointed.I was in the area popping in and out of the stores in the shopping center and the smell of mexican food filled the air and who I am not to oblige my sense lol.  I was already hungry so a stop here just fit in perfectly. I was immediately greeted upon entry and seated right away.  As soon as you start walking to your table its like sensory overload on so many levels.  The place was bustling with people from patrons to staff, there was someone anywhere and everywhere you looked. Not to mention a working water fountain smack dab in the middle of the restaurant.It wasn't long before the waiter arrived introduced himself and took the drink order. Feeling like I earned a bevy I ordered a small Red Sangria with was amazing with bits and pieces of sizeable fresh fruit wading at the top of the glass.  FYI, their lemonade is freshly made and proves it authenticity in every sip. The chips and salsa are the freshest in taste.  I like the that salsa was chunky and not runny so as you scooped it onto your chip, it actually stayed there and the chips were thick enough to balance the weight of the heavy hitting salsa.  It was not long after ordering that the food arrived.  The Steak and Chicken fajitas were solid.  I ordered the steak medium and it was that and then some!   I love when steak is tender and juicy and well balanced in flavor.  I have no idea what they put in those pinto beans but they were great, mix in some of that rice and you are onto something.  The chicken was a little dry IMO so next time it will be all steak for me.  The Carne Asada had a magnificent marinade that but it in a league of its own!!  If you are looking for all flavor then this is your meat of choice!!  Service was great!  Wilson made sure we had everything we needed and that our food was to our liking and if we needed anything ( the kiddo wanted extra rice) he made sure to get it with urgency.  They have a tag team system going on here too which is helpful.  Once you are done eating they do not hesitate to clear plates right of the table. Parking can be a little bit of a beast since they share a parking lot with other establishments.  Also, if you have to use the restroom (ladies) take your patience as there was a line the whole time we were their.  With so many people and a few stahls its only natural.  The atmosphere is lively so a good time is sure to be had but this is not the place for a quiet meal at all lol. The food was okay. I got pulled chicken soft tacos and they were on the saltier side but still tasty. The servers were very attentive, the moment we finished the chips/salsa/drinks, they were there with refills! Speaking of their salsa, it's really good. Its fresh, but not too spicy. Our waitress, Sasha, was also really helpful with making sure my sisters meal was vegan. She even pointed out the refried beans had chicken broth when my sister asked for her taco salad without meat or dairy.This is one of my family's favorite Tex-Mex places. Guapo's was great. I liked their tortilla chips and salsa, although their salsa was watery. I would have liked a more chunky salsa. I ordered the mariscada because I was craving seafood and I didn't realize it was a soup when I ordered it, but it ended up exceeding my expectations. The soup is so creamy and they have a good amount of seafood in it including two huge clams. The delicious flavor of the soup did not seem to seep into the scallops however. The only thing that was disappointing was the white rice that it came with. It was extremely salty. The price of the mariscada was around $23 but was enough for 2 meals for me so I'd say it was pretty worth it. Menu items from other people in my party were also really big so you might want to consider sharing if you don't want leftovers. The service we got was really professional and they expressed concern when I didn't realize my order was a stew. We've been there a few times and we love it! Ten of us were there yesterday (6 adults and 4 kids) we explained the server that some of us have a flight to catch, he said I'll let the manager know and see what we can do. It was so impressive that everyone was working so well together to make sure we are taken care of. The manager was filling our drinks while the server took care of the food. Ummmmmm food was so good and had flavor! Loved it from the salsa to my chimichanga. The chimichanga was not too big was a perfect size for a 7 month pregnant lady like myself  and the tamale elote was delicious.

Very good Mexican restaurant. The food was very good. Salsa for chips was amazing! Not too fond of the margarita I chose. Tasted pre-made or with a bunch of syrup . Will try traditional margarita next time. I ordered a shrimp appetizer with a lemon sauce and bread slices, really good! Nice sized shrimp and flavored well. Came for lunch alone.  Pretty.  Super nice ppl and service.  Had the lunch combo fajita.  WOW!  Loved it!!  Serve t with all of the normal fixings, but also hot butter.  I'm not sure what I was supposed to do with it, so I spooned it over the meats.  Loved it ... I came here for a friend's birthday dinner. The inside is huge and easily accommodated our party of 10. We had a reservation and were promptly seated and waited upon. I had a strawberry daiquiri which was good. Sweet, not too strong like the margaritas. For appetizers we had the chile con queso which was outstanding and arguably the best queso I have ever had. Definitely the best queso in the northern Virginia area. They served two different kinds of chips which was a little weird. One more flaky and thin, the other more sturdy and thick. For my entree I chose the seafood enchiladas. Delicious and came with ample shrimp and scallop. I also tried the steak quesadillas, which were salty and delicious, and the tres leches cake. First off, anybody who's left a review less than 5 stars just hasn't found the right thing on the menu. I am a Guapo's regular who holds high standards when it comes to food. I've been to all Guapo's in the area and have found this one to be my ABSOLUTE favorite. The tacos El Paso (or really any of their tacos) are phenomenal. I think it comes down to the quality of meat used (it's pulled and juicy and tastes homemade). The salsas are always tasty and the rice and beans are to die for. Definitely order the Guapo-mole :) Also, the service here is incredibly fast and efficient. Ate here with a few friends who I haven't seen in a while, so we decided to grab some good Mexican in the area.Atmosphere: this is a great place to bring your family, plenty of things going on and fast paced serving environment. Only qualm is the fact the acoustics are very loud and they constantly celebrate loud singing/beating instruments for each birthday. Like I said, great atmosphere for a family or people who constantly see each other having some entertainment. However, not good if you're catching up...too loud and will have to ask your friends to repeat themselves. This restaurant is packed with people, lovely and fun and all for a good reason, their food is excellent! Once you arrive they have fresh tortilla chips and salsa which are addictive, so make sure you stop to leave space for the delicious food. This was an enjoyable experience. Pretty busy during the height of happy hour on a Friday. We were seated immediately, and served fresh chips and salsa. Salsa had a Smokey chipotle taste, loved it. Great establishment with beautiful decor! We sat on the restaurant side (there is a separate bar area which I would love to try another time! ) we had a large party which means we tried several different dishes! The taquitos were very good. I would definitely get those again. However, there are only 4 in an order so if you do want to share with a large party, get 2 orders. The staff here is so nice! I came here for a late-night dinner after a movie and both the food and service were excellent. The margarita I had was refreshing and delicious. For food, I went with a combo of three tacos, rice and beans. That turned out to be ambitious, as I couldn't finish all of it, but perhaps one of the marks of a great meal is leaving a little bit behind - the cook has given you more than enough to satisfy. This kind of food is one of my go-to comfort foods, so I was glad to find a place like this open relatively late at night. This restaurant offers outdoor seating, which was perfect for a warm night. This is another great place in Bethesda , Maryland . This is Guapos Restaurant. Its been a while since I was last in there . You have to find an indoor garage or park in the street to get parking since this city is not so known for parking areas . Inside they have hosts that will help get you seated at tables ans serve you drinks of your choosing to start . It has a full bar area with exotic drinks and sodas , and wines and water and more to help get your service started . They have great menus with fajitas , burritos , and so much more to choose from .
