One of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever been to. The food and service were amazing. The table side salsa is to die for and love how they make it to your liking. I really never expected to write this, especially for this restaurant, but we had such a terrible experience that I was compelled to write this review. My wife and I were celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary on Saturday April 30, 2022.The meal was pretty good although we were not provided plates with our Sopapillas and had to spread out our napkins. Â We were also never asked if we wanted another drink or anything else.Now, what you need to know and be aware of is this:We gave the male waiter a VISA Gift Card which we had received the day before as a gift from my mother and it had a value of $100.00. Â My wife had checked the balance right before we left our house for the restaurant and confirmed there was a balance of $100.00 on it. Â No one touched that VISA Gift Card except me, my wife, and the male waiter at the restaurant. Â After giving the waiter the card, he came back to our table minutes later and said the VISA Gift Card was declined. Â I protested that there was $100.00 on it and my wife just checked the balance right before we left for the restaurant. Â The waiter said he ran the card four times and it was declined. Â He did not provide us any receipt for the declined transactions. Â I provided the waiter my personal bank credit card, paid for the meal and left.When I got home I went online to check the VISA Gift Card to see why the card was declined. Â I was shocked to find that ten Google Play transactions were placed on the gift card for ten dollars each, totaling $100.00, emptying the balance. Â The transactions were done at the time that I provided the VISA Gift Card to the waiter. Â I printed out the transaction report and told my wife that we needed to go speak to the manager at the restaurant. Â After arriving at the restaurant and showing the manager my proof that I was scammed, he acted downright rude and said, "waiter's name was a good employee", and refused to do anything about the credit card theft. Â I then told the manager that I would call the police if needed, unless he did what was right. Â All he did was call his manager, a woman, and I talked to her. Â She was rude as well and asked me for my mothers name for who knows what reason. Â She started arguing with me over the phone so I told her that I would call the police and I left to go with my wife to my car, where we called 911 and explained what had happened to us. Â The dispatcher said to come into a police substation on Monday to file a report. Â I doubt much will happen with that but we will go ahead a file a report. Â The lesson here is Do Not Use VISA or Mastercard Gift Cards at this restaurant or this could happen to you. Â Even with solid proof positive evidence, the restaurant did not care at all. Â If we ever go back to that restaurant, we will pay in Cash. Â I have no reason to take all the time that I put into this, if it was not true. Holy cow the food is incredible. Hands down the best Mexican food I've ever had and I eat a lot of Mexican. Blew us away to the point where we went here both nights we were in Tucson. I had the enchiladas trio the first night and mole enchiladas the second night. Both were incredible. Also I have to note that the rice and beans are so good. Wow, the hostess was so unhelpful when we asked questions. I came to make a take out order for 12. But after asking the hostess a few begging questions about various dishes and her complete lack of interest and disrespect, we took our order elsewhere. Guadalajara grill use to be a great establishment- great food and service - clearly they must be doing very well to be so rude to parties coming in for a take out orders. My first experience was great and I could not wait to return and review. Well today I was by myself, I waited not even 4 mins to be seated, laughed and chatted with an elderly couple that were quite pleased with their meal. I am ready!!!! Then she walks me down...turn and there it was the last booth in the restaurant....the very last. I politely decline to sit there being as though we passed at least 8 empty booths and tables ...hey it's 11:36 people are here but it's not full enough to understand the placement. I followed her back up to the starting point (thinking she would sit me elsewhere) I am remaining optimistic because IT SMELLS GREAT IN HERE!! I waited and then I decided that I can eat elsewhere and have better service. So I said, "excuse me (to interrupt her) it's ok, I will just go elsewhere" I just wanted to enjoy the meal again my daughter in law introduced me to. You get seated...and get TREATED with a mobile salsa bar. FRESH, DELICIOUS salsa made at your table. 5 stars. 5 stars. 5 stars. But I will add, the restaurant makes you feel like you're at a shop in Guadalajara. If you're looking for a good time, definitely try this place out! The ambiance felt so authentic with the decoration and everything. It was definitely very bustling in there. They provide table side salsa with chips!! The most fresh tasting salsa ever. The mild was perfect for me as the medium and hot can get pretty spicy. Their drinks were also very delicious, but deceivingly strong. I got the frozen mango margarita and it was so tasty! But be careful because they hide the alcohol taste really well. The drink portions are humongous too! Our food took a long time to come out and by then we already stuffed ourselves with the chips and drinks. Absolutely loved the dining experience here! We reserved a table so didn't had to wait long. From the looks of it, they looked short-staffed! Got seated, ordered spicy jalapeño and devil margaritas! For starters, we opted the go to spicy  salsa and chips! It was so fun seeing the server make fresh salsa for us. The Lobster stuffed Portobello was out of this world so so good, we also got the chicken fajitas and pork molcajetes, came with sides of rice, guacamole and fresh tortillas. For authentic Mexican in a relaxed sit down environment (usually I like hole-in-the-wall takeout...) this was the place. we're visiting from colorado and happen to come here on accident on the perfect day! it was the 20th anniversary of this restaurant and it was so much fun! they had a live mariachi band, free cake and prizes. the service was amazing and our waiter was the best and we had our salsa and guac made right in front of us which made the experience so fun. the food was amazing!! We ate at Guadalajara Original Grill on a busy Saturday night. Â There was a brief wait for a table for two, but it was totally worth it! Once we were seated at a comfortable, roomy booth, we were served right away with chips and delicious table side salsa. Â We have been here several times before, with family or just a date night and Guadalajara Original Grill never disappoints. Â The prices are really reasonable, and the drinks are really delicious. Â I had a mango frozen margarita with tajin and it was delicious and potent! The menu has been updated with some really unique dishes, plenty of fish and vegetarian options. Â Once we were seated and started on appetizers, our server took our order right away, and the food came out quickly. We have been to other places in Tucson recently, and have waited over an hour for service in the last few months due to staffing issues. Â Guadalajara Original Grill was fully staffed and attentive from the front desk to the table. I went for a standby Three combo with chicken enchiladas and carne asada tacos. Â Mmmm, Mexican comfort food. Â We also ordered a Molcajetes bubbling lava stone bowl with pork, it was incredible and a true specialty hard to find at other places. Absolutely worth the wait it took to get seated. Busy even on a Monday so we knew it was some place special. The house margaritas were the best we had of the whole trip for a delightfully low price point, and the complimentary salsa was the best I've ever had. They make it to order at your table. Best Mexican food in Tucson! The table side fresh salsa making it was scrumptious! We got a mild and a spicy! Both were some of the best salsa I've ever eaten at at restaurant. We ordered the Molcajete Ultimo (steak, chicken and shrimp) and the Lobster Enchiladas. Omg guys. If you are ever in the Tucson area, this restaurant is the place to be! I am from California and did not have high expectations for food in Tucson, but this restaurant seriously blew me away. The architecture, decorations, furniture - everything tied together a beautiful Spanish theme. I loved it. Frozen margs we're spectacular, tasty but still very strong. I got the prickly pear, the cutest bright magenta color, and it was very sweet. I would probably go for the mango next time since it tasted like they used mango nectar! Complimentary chips and salsa were given. The salsa was made fresh on a cart that a lady rolls around - SO CUTE. She asks you if you'd like mild, medium, or spicy and because we had a table of 7, she gave us 2 bowls of salsa (we chose mild and medium). I love spice, but I really enjoyed the fresh taste of the mild with the cilantro. We were sipping and snacking for a while though. We waited longer than expected to order our drinks, then our food, then waited for the food for another 30 minutes it seemed. It was a busy night so I understand, and I'm glad my big group had a lot to catch up on (+ the large margs)! When the food finally came out, we were already full; however, we still wolfed down our chili Verde. It was delicious! The pork was so tender and I loved the chili sauce. The beans and rice paired with it well. The Molcajete ultima was beautifully presented and all the protein were flavorful. They also asked what kind of tortillas we wanted initially when ordering, but we had to remind them that we didn't receive it yet. The tortillas  upon arrival were really hot, which meant they were fresh and I wasn't mad about it! I would definitely come by here again. This was my family and mine's first time in Tucson and I was craving queso fundido so we decided to come here. The queso fundido con chorizo definitely fixed my craving, I highly recommend. The Molcajete Ultimo with shrimp, chicken, and steak was super juicy and tender. The lobster enchiladas were my favorite out of everything we ordered. Went here Thursday night and it was packed. This was my their time eating here, Â second at this location in 2 weeks. Every item I have ordered here I have enjoyed. Chicken Mole, Chicken Fajitas, Molcajete Ultima all tasted amazing. Love the tables side salsa made fresh to your liking but do know that and the fresh take side guacamole are not available till after 4pm. Was sad cause the second time coming to Guadalajara was at 3pm so it wasn't available. Though did take advantage of the happy hour at that time. Delicious, reasonably priced lunch specials! Got a chili verde lunch chimi (pork based). Quite filling. Taste wise was good but nothing special. Our table also got a complimentary salsa and chips app (they don't mix the salsa in front of you for lunch like they did in the past for dinner). It's a pretty large eating area with ample parking. Wow - this place was great! My husband and I went in a double date here and had a great time. Our server was attentive, the food was great, and the drinks were sooo good. I will say if you don't have a reservation or get there early to put your name in, on the weekend you'll have a hard time getting in. The parking lot is also very packed, with cars but also with how small it is. As a side note, it's 11$ to have someone make guacamole next to the table. Well........, Busy as expected for a Friday. Combo fajitas Chimi steak burrito and a two combo enchilada tacoPrepared really good no complaints their beans could have a bit more flavor rice is rice. However a dumb old man Gringo in our ordered a glass of Cabernet. Â Yes this is a Mexican place so no surprise that the "wine" was grape juice. I don't know how it's possible that I have never had a molcajete before...but I'm so so glad the first time was here! SHEESH! Let me start at the beginning, we are staying at the Westin La Paloma which is beautiful and this restaurant is about 5 minutes away. The wait on a Friday night was an hour and a half, BUT only actually took about 30 minutes. Bustling atmosphere and staff is so attentive! I felt like I was at a family reunion of a friend, and their aunties were checking on me, getting me a plate, getting me a drink etc. excellent personal service. Â Everyone was very warm and I can't wait to come back with my family. We had carnitas fajitas, molcajete ultimo, and 2 sprites, and chips and salsa. Too much to finish so we brought some back. The total was only like $54. Come on! So inexpensive and so good! We will be back everytime we are in the area and sometimes come just for this dining experience. There was a guy at the table across from us and he was LIVING for his food. Making expressions of gratitude, and commenting under his breath (Remember that movie "What About Bob" with Bill Murray? Good dinner while in Tucson. The table side salsa and dip was excellent. Service was a bit of a disappointment slow and not very personal. The cadillac margarita is very overpriced. My enchiladas were very good - the two chicken were nice and moist, the cheese delicious. As Mexican food goes it is a bit better than most, table side preparations were tasty. Considering moving to Tucson so I can eat here every day of my life. Yes it was that good. We finished a 6 mile hike in Saguaro NP and had worked up a healthy appetite. I can confidently say their table side salsa is the BEST salsa I've ever had. And I've been to Mexico several times. They must use a secret ingredient but be warned it's spicy! We ordered Mexican paella, Chile verde, lobster enchiladas, and the chipotle shrimp burrito and are still talking about this meal 3 days later. We tried to come here for dinner a few nights prior and it was absolutely slammed - an hour and a half wait - longer than we could stick around. We figured there must be something in the water at Guadalajara so we decided to come back. We came for a late lunch, and I gotta say I'm disappointed. The meal was fine, your classic huge dish of steaming Mexican comfort food. I had the molcajetes de pollo. Seemed a little overpriced but tasty. The big downside to this dining experience was the staff. They all seemed mildly pissed off. At us, a group of tired, indecisive gringos? At life? I don't know, but it made us uncomfortable. This is the third time I've come here and each time the food has been fantastic. They make your salsa table-side with your requested level of heat and it is so good. My boyfriend and I love coming to Guadalajara, it is one of our favorite spots. The house margaritas are delicious, and OF COURSE, the chips and salsa. I have been to every Guadalajara location in Tucson and the ladies at this location make it the best! Lately, we have been going for happy hour for margaritas and we will share a few of the happy hour appetizers as an early dinner. Unfortunately, the service at this location is pretty crappy. Our taco salad was piled with meat and beans some cheese! Â We had ordered a Taco Salad. We had to ask for lettuce and tomatoes and onions and they gave us a 1/2 cup of lettuce for the two salads. Our server never asked us for anything we had to shout for some one to wait on us. No water was brought our table. We came at 11am for lunch.
