I was at a standstill with my young reactive rescue pup...he clearly needed confidence and I needed help giving it to him. A friend recommended JR of Green Bandana Dogs to me and I couldn't be happier that she did! JR met with me and my dog, came up with a very solid training plan and in just 1 session we were both feeling more confident. We did the homework in between sessions and today I have a VERY different dog! I was so impressed with JR's effective and positive methods, as well as his ability to teach me how to teach my dog! I can now take my dog everywhere and know his old reactive ways are in the past! He's a happier dog and for that I will be forever grateful! JR is a magician. Through exuberant praise, deep affection and informed behavioral guidance, JR not only works with our 7 month old Whippet, Psyche, but also with my husband and I. His magic is apparent when Psyche listens attentively and does maneuvers for him that we are just learning and attempting. She transforms around him, showing us how it’s done and rolling her eyes at our stumbling attempts. But after three months of weekly lessons we are coming round and Psyche has started to praise us. Quite the reversal of roles! JR is always available for telephone consultation and works his schedule to include us when a new issue arises for our growing puppy. My husband and I both commute to full-time jobs so our dog was not getting a lot of exercise during the week. Green Bandana Dogs has been the perfect solution! JR picks my dog up twice a week from my office in downtown Burlington. She goes for a hike with up to five other dogs and comes back happy and exhausted. She is SO excited on mornings when she knows she is going to work with me because she knows it means she'll be going on a pack walk with JR! I've also noticed that when I take my dog out for hikes myself, she is much more relaxed than she used to be when we encounter other dogs. Getting my dog into one of Green Bandana Dogs packs is the best thing I have ever done for her physical, mental, and emotional health. She loves it and JR is amazing with all the dogs! More...

JR worked with our dog Darby. She had/has some anxiety and fear from loud noises and some household items. It broke our hearts that she would have such tremendous fear about things and not be able to enjoy a hike or just being outdoors. JR worked with us for a couple of weeks on what triggers her fears, how to distract her from them with positive reinforcement and minimize her anxiety over them, and how to introduce new things in a controlled manner to build her confidence and show her that we have things under control and that there is nothing that she needs to be responsible for. Since her work with JR, Darby is able to stay with us outside in her play area for extended periods of time while before it was a small feat to get her to want to stay out for longer than 5-10 minutes. She is enjoying the time outside with her brother, Kash, and is confident enough to recognize noises that would have bothered her in the past and continue to play ball or chase Kash around. On hikes, she is confident, much more eager to explore, and happy. We are very happy and thankful for JR’s work with Darby and would recommend him 100 times over. More...

What do you love most about your job?
I love watching a dog transform into a confident and well behaved member of the family. It is rewarding to see the human/animal relationship improve and grow even stronger.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I am intrigued by animal behavior and fascinated by watching the dog's learn. I find helping people to be very rewarding. Dog training has allowed me to combine these two passions into one.
Why should our clients choose you?
I am here to help you. I will customize the training to match your dog's unique characteristics. I will also ensure you're learning in a way that is fun and interesting. I hope my enthusiasm for dog training rubs off on you too.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I will accommodate your preferences. We can train outdoors and keep a safe distance. No problem if you would prefer I wear an N19 mask. I have been vaccinated and boosted.
