Absolutely was pleasantly surprised by this very well hidden jewel in the city! My husband is English and loves authentic Indian cuisine, so we were browsing for a new Indian place to eat, we initially intended on going to the kabob location next door however my husband notice the India gourmet had much more cars out front so we ventured in. The lunch buffet was amazing so fresh and flavourful. The service was excellent too, and the atmosphere comfortable-we really enjoyed ourselves and had a great lunch! Can’t wait to go back. More...

Great Indian restaurant. Food is ALWAYS fresh and delicious! Great service too. We have liked everything we’ve ordered here, but our favorites are the spinach Dahl and chicken tiki masala. Yum!

Excellent service and really good Indian food. The waitress Joselin was very friendly and quick. Attentive without hovering. She even arranged for me to go peek at the Tandoor oven, which my wife insisted was how Tandori chicken is prepared. (I assumed Tandori chicken was cooked with Indian spices in a regular oven. Why would a source of heat make that much difference?). But sure enough, Gourmet India uses a traditional Tandoor oven as it is done in India and other Middle East countries (worth googling to see). Best saag paneer (spinach dish) ever! The creamiest....the butteriest....But they tried to charge us DOUBLE SALES TAX when we used a Groupon coupon! Amount to be charged thru groupon was $24 for 2 buffets & 2 drinks. We didn't get drinks but that's our fault. Anyway $24 plus tax is $25.98. But they charged us $25.98 PLUS TAX on the $25.98, or plus $2.xx...like $2.15.No. Wrong. The total WITH TAX was roughly $26....not $28. He got manager on phone who, from what I could understand, was saying they had to charge sales tax on the full amount before any coupon. Wrong. I know the TEXAS sales tax law, and in this state, a business can only legally charge sales tax on the actual amount you're paying.So if you have 2 meals at $10 each & have a bogofree coupon, you the customer pays sales tax on $10, not $20.And in this case, even I were WRONG, like if we lived in another state with a different sales tax law, the extra amount of sales tax would b less than $2.15 More...

Probably the best tasting Indian place in Houston to my liking. Don’t be fooled by the not so glamorous exterior. The food is amazing. The chicken and lamb were perfectly cooked. We had organized a first birthday party here.It was not in a banquet hall, the manager arranged a table for the number of members mentioned and also gave space for decoration. We just went for the regular lunch buffet and it was 13$ per plate( includes both veg n non veg)The food options were decent and the food was just lip smacking.Menu consisted of salad, chana chat, onion pakora, peas pulao, veg biryani, dal makhni, palak paneer, mango mousse and kheer. GOURMET INDIA!!!! The name of this restaurant says it all. Tucked away in this quiet little mall area off of Westheimer and hwy 6 is this near fine dining restaurant. The interior features a relaxing and formal setting with formal cloths and table settings and calming music to set the mood. The service is friendly and professional. We were seated quickly and our beverages brought to our table within a few minutes. We inspected the 20 plus item buffet and decided upon that. Each item had its unique indian cuisine presentation and flavor. Mmmm....my mouth is still watering! The fresh soft tortilla type bread was AMAZING and I dipped it in almost ech dish I sampled.
