We've always been a Gelato Fiasco family since my in-laws moved to Portland and had a bad experience at Gorgeous. 8 years and one honeymoon to Italy later, and we have now been converted to Gorgeous, which tastes closer to what we enjoyed in Italy. The flavors are strong, and the selection delightfully authentic. Every time we take our first bite, we're transported to the streets of Florence. I especially love the pistachio, which is toasty, nutty, and delicious. Prices are reasonable for gelato in the city. Everyone at the front has always been very nice and patient. Best of all, there is always plenty of seating inside to enjoy our gelato on a really hot or cold day. We always try to make a stop here every time we visit now, and I'm glad this place exists to give everyone a little taste of Italy. More...

This was one of my favorite places to go on my trip to Portland! I have a milk allergy so I couldn't enjoy the gelato but the cannoli was one of the best I've ever had! (And I'm picky!) True to milan. Light, almost fluffy, bursting with flavour without any of the crap. Can't go wrong with the OG "Gorgeous" in a fresh cone, and the seasonal peach was fantastic. I love Gelato and this is a great place. (Please know that I also LOVE Gelato Fiasco, across the street - Like a parent says to a kid - I love you both equally and appreciate, your different qualities)The selection is decent and very unique - if you would like to sample, they will provide you with one, although not as enthusiastically as their competition - probably because they are usually busy? Anyway...I have sampled from my friends and what they ordered vs. asking at the counter and everything I have tried has been unique and delicious - very decadent, a little goes a long way.One stand out for me....they have so many non-gelato desserts - baked goods galore!!! I can't say I've had more than 3 servings of gelato in my lifetime, but this after lunch treat was very very good. Is it high quality gelato though? The hell if I know, everyone seems to think so. Best gelato I've had since I've left Italy! Get the dark chocolate - it's incredible! Service was fast and kind despite the crowd and long line! The owner is from Milan and was so so sweet! I literally came back 2 days in a row to make it a point to try different flavors. I had just gotten back from Milan in May so my expectations for gelato are somewhat high. THIS PLACE DID NOT DISAPPOINT. I haven't had good, no great gelato like this since Italy. Owned by 2 Milanese natives, this was excellent gelato.  The Clementine tasted delicately of orange. And it was vegan. I'll be dreaming about this one, it was so unique and delicious. Pretty good gelato place that I think is up there with my favorite gelato place in Brooklyn. I'm glad we came after our dinner at Eventide! I really wanted to like gorgeous gelato more than I did. It's good gelato in my book but it'd been so hyped up to be better or more authentic. Having traveled extensively throughout Europe I was looking for a gelato that reminded me of Italy and this place fell short. The lemon cookie was nice and tart if a little sweet. I was very excited to have good gelato after having not so great gelato a day prior at old Orchard Beach. If I'd had my way we would have gone to both gelato places on this street, but to be fair we were both pretty stuffed after dinner. We shared a large pistachio and amaretto and the flavors and textures were on par with gelato from Venice. I did feel a little rushed (the line is not really their fault though) and the AC did not seem to be working, but this satisfied my craving for authentic gelato.
