Gold's Gym

Although this Gold's is a smaller gym, I'd like to take the time to give this place a shout out for their cleanliness and their great pool! So I have to be 100% honest, I went in with extremely low expectations. I have been to a few gyms out here and they just haven't measured up to what I really needed. I went to Gold's on a whim, I had an hour to kill and decided to stop in. I am sure glad I did, when I walked in I was greeted by an extremely kind young woman Sandra, she was my first impression of the gym and I was very surprised, I have been going to the gym for 20 years and the front desk person is always someone there just killing time who could care less about you, but not here, she acknowledged me, made eye contact and was not only kind but extremely professional and helpful. I met with Rae to look around and she was very personable and sweet and didn't try to up sell me or push an agenda, she listened to what I was looking for and guided me to a perfect plan. The next time I went I brought my baby girl (21 months) and Hope in the childcare was extremely sweet and my baby clearly felt fine because she walked right in like her and Hope were besties and it was the cutest and also made me feel good about leaving her there. The next person I met with was Megan, she's a trainer and she is just as kind and sweet as everyone else, again she listened to me and didn't try to up sell me and seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say, I came home and told my husband I was shocked that she didn't try to sell me an expensive personal training package and try to make me feel like if I didn't buy one I would be fat forever. She was the opposite, she was encouraging and made me feel confident and even though we never even discussed PT if I did decide to do it she would be top of my list. This morning I pulled up and a gentleman that works there as well, totally didn't catch his name ‍, came up to me at my car and let me know I had basically parked on a broken glass bottle and to be careful but not to touch it because he was going to clean it for me, and he did. I have also chatted with the manager and he is also very kind and professional. I would love to see the equipment updated especially in the women's only area (which I LOVE) but the level of professionalism and kindness I receive there makes me not care that the equipment is a little dated. I have been to gyms with all new shiny equipment and the employees there treated me like garbage and I left feeling self conscious and upset. Here at Gold's I leave feeling proud of the workout I did and happy that I am in good company. I see value differently than most, I see the people's attitude as the most important thing and then I look at the place. The locker rooms are clean and smell fresh, the equipment is clean but I stay for the way my daughter and I are treated. Absolutely the best gym experience I've had in my entire life! Great facilities, always clean, and the staff is always friendly! Every morning I come in, I'm greeted by the nice lady at the front desk, and even get asked how my day was going by the general manager! I use the swimming pool 5 days out of the week, and it is always clean and heated! I've used various gyms over the years. This is definitely a good one. It's big enough to have the equipment you need not so big that you get lost in it. I mostly use the free weights and there is always plenty of room. It has a pool and a sauna. Of course the trainers want to sell you upgrades etc. that's part of their job. The ones I have interacted with mention other options but never press the issue. They focus on providing you the information you need to meet your goals. If you are looking for a good place to workout without crazy games I recommend this one. More...

I don't why there are any bad reviews for this gym. I came here for the first time and truthfully it rocks. There is a lot of space, huge selection of nice dumbbells, plenty of benches, a nice CrossFit type area, and a whole section devoted to deadlift and squats complete with chalk and deadlift platforms and everything. It's a diamond in the rough. And they actually have good gym music. Sure their stuff is older but who cares? If you are serious about getting stronger, this should be your gym and for those who are whining about anything else I mean come on! I love the gym, just joined about a month ago but lately really started going daily. Monday I actually start with a personal trainer, I'm super excited! When I met with my trainer he was very nice and so motivating!! But yesterday I experienced something that almost made me quit the gym. I'm not a skinny body builder girl (I'm a beautiful plus size girl) so it can be intimidating to me when I go in. On Friday morning (Good Friday) they were giving away T-Shirts. When I walked in I wasn't asked if I would like a shirt but as I walked away from the front desk I heard the young man ask other (smaller people) if they'd like a shirt. I brushed it off and though maybe he just didn't want me to try to keep up with it as I work out. After my workout I decided to go and look at new workout shirts and a gym bag. I saw some things that I wanted to purchase but had to walk to my car to get my wallet. He didn't know if I was coming back in or not and I was never asked if I wanted a shirt but the whole time I was at the store I heard him asking others if they'd like one. Went back in to make my purchases, I was thinking the whole time, ok now that I'm actually going to this young man to check out he'll ask me if I'd like a shirt. I bought $80 worth of stuff and was NEVER asked if I'd like a shirt but as soon as I walk away to leave he ask the smaller members walking in and out if they'd like a shirt. I felt very low when I left the gym. I know he didn't ask me because he THOUGHT I couldn't fit the free shirts. It's not about the FREE shirt (of course I bought my own) it's the principle of how I was treated because I wasn't a smaller member of the gym. I will continue to visit the gym and do what I have to do so I can show this young man what my end results look like!!! More...

Great place! Great staff! Scott is always checking on me & my progress. Dee is a great trainer, so much so I'll be getting 12 weeks worth of 1hr sessions with her. Gets really busy at 5pm so if you don't like crowds go earlier. The women's workout room is great, lots better than gymX. The sauna can get crowded at times but everyone is very polite & if there is room they'll make room for you. Some of the lockers in the women's room are broken, but all in all a great facility. I really like the theater room and using the treadmill in there. However out of 7 or 8 treadmills maybe three or four work! Very annoying! Love relaxing in the sauna for a little bit! Enjoy the gym otherwise. More...

Love it here. Hate that the sauna closes on Thursdays at 1130. Or when they are cleaning the restrooms and block everything off from being used during operating hours. They should clean it on fri or sat at closing, since the close early anyway. Those 2 things annoy me and my friends the worst. Especially since we pay to use everything and only can workout those hours cause of work schedules. Also I wish fri, sat , sun, the stayed open to at least 12am. Lots of people rather work out then drink. But other then that. It's my favorite place to workout More...

I love the sauna and the indoor swimming pool and you can get on a treadmill in a dark room and run while watching a movie like in the theatre but instead of sitting down your running then they have lots cool classes to help people with their fitness I didn't think I was going to like it this much but I feel like if I have any free time I'd be at the gym it's never been so comfortable to work out!

Facility wise, there was no point in my looking elsewhere. This gym has everything and then some. It's also the first gym set up that's ever made sense to me! Good flow, multiple individual spaces for classes, stretching and intimate workouts as well. Pool/Saunas/No contracts, the new body scanner and the cardio movie theater were just ridiculous cherries on top. I would love to see a ballet style bar in the stretching area! ;) As far as staff, super impressed my membership rep -(newer guy from San Diego) was awesome and made me want the extra features without "selling" me in any way. His appreciation of the facilities and ownership naturally showed and made me excited to join. He convinced me not to wait on my intro and body scan the next day. Again, great experience with Trent, he gave me tons of information, not only on the facilities and options available but also the local area and the lifestyle in general. I again just felt excited to dive in to my new gym. I also felt we came up with a really solid and realistic plan. These guys set me up for feeling at home in my new town and gym. Stopped in using a guest pass promotion and was really impressed. Yes the space is small*, but it feels open enought (at least downstairs) and everyone is very inviting and helpful while not being in your shit. I used Gold's for a month membership in the summer when I signed on with "Randall" the GM, I believe. He was incredibly friendly and helpful. Came in more recently for a day pass. Sydney at the front desk helped me and was awesome as well! The gym, equipment, and locker rooms have always been in pristine condition. Overall it's an amazing facility!!
