Fantastic salon!  I went to Godfrey Fitzgerald for the first time about a week ago and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience from the aromatherapy massaging recliner at the shampoo station to my wonderfully cut and styled hair.  Godfrey is really talented, knew how to execute my vision, and is down to earth.  I left his chair feeling like a pretty woman:) I will definitely be returning to get my hair cut and colored! Fantastic salon! Today was my second haircut with Zach. I have very curly hair but he knows exactly how to manage it. I drive all the way from Bayonne to get my hair cut by him. The salon is lovely and quaint, with a very friendly staff. I highly recommend Zach, especially to those with curly hair. Finally, someone who knows what they're doing!!! I've been going to Godfrey's since moving to Princeton from Los Angeles and OH MY GOODNESS!! Godfrey is amazing! Truly his entire staff is better than any other I have ever experienced. He is fast, efficient, and professional. He cares about your hair and desires the best for you. I have long, natural hair and Godfrey can blow my hair out like I could have never imagined! Finding a hair salon in Princeton that can work with African American hair is tough but you don't need waste your time just book with Godfrey! My experience coming to this salon was mind blowingly impressive. I had the honor to be styled, colored, and cut by Zachary Mosco. He was so attentive to my needs, super hospitable (even gave me some brownies along side my wine!) And he had such a delightful personality, along side the talent it took for him to give me exactly what I wanted, plus some. The salon has a great atmosphere, and energy. I have been to many high end salons and sat with women who just never get your hair right. I always pay top dollar to be disappointed. Than if you need to get it fixed because they botched it, you get the eye roll while your there. That has been my hair experience for years. Today that changed. Zach!If you want what YOU want go see Zach. He greets you as a guest and really listens. He wants to see what inspires you, he wants to see the pictures you screen shot and hope to look like. I absolutely love this little hole in the wall salon, it truly is a gem! When I walked in I was greeted and offered a drink. Then they took me into the back to wash my hair. Their shampoo chairs have a little foot rest and they massage you while you are getting shampooed. They took their time shampooing my very thick long hair and they massaged my scalp! Then it was time for my cut and blow dry. Zach did an amazing job listening to my concerns with my hair. He cut just enough to make my hair less heavy while at the same time leaving it long. I am visiting Princeton for work and needed to get my hair done quickly this morning. I went to this salon today and had an appointment with Zach and all I can say is I wish I had this salon where I live.  I arrived a bit early in case there was any waiting (which there wasn't) and was immediately greatly by the friendly receptionist and brought to Zach's chair.  I have natural, African American, curly hair and I had a blowout and flatiron and it looks beautiful!! The whole visit took approx 45mins which was wonderful. Everything from the service to the styling was great and when I come back in town, I will definitely be coming again!  P.S. Zach duplicated exactly what I wanted and did such a great job!! He is just excellent with color selection/balayage and did such a perfect job cutting my hair so that it better shaped my face. The staff are extremely personable, genuinely caring and friendly, so this was a very different experience than many salons I have been in around the world. This is by far the best salon in Princeton. Godfrey and Zach are both highly skilled and versatile stylists. They take their time to train new stylists and really get to know their clients well. I have gotten my hair wash and blown, styled in its natural state, trimmed, and cut into a tapered style. I was never disappointed. In fact, I am blown away by my last hair cut and style done by Godfrey. I have tried three other salons in Princeton and none are able to style my natural black hair at all lengths like this salon. Godfrey is amazing! Here's why:1) He took my hair and lifestyle into consideration: He actually asked a lot of questions about my hair - what it's like when I wash it vs day 2/3. He understood that given my lifestyle I don't have any time to style it in the morning. A lot of stylists in the past have given me a haircut that looks great the first day and never looks anything like that ever again!2) He gets curly-frizzy-thin hair (that's somehow straight at the crown): He gave me a haircut that works for my hair type. The style doesn't fight my curls but accentuates them. Probably the first hairstyle in years where I can say it looks great after that dreaded first hair wash at home :)3) He gave me great simple, styling tips for when I do have some time4) He recommended some products from his salon but didn't do the hard sell. Told me about them but at billing didn't try to push those products at all. I ended up buying the shampoo and the conditioner and I'm glad. They work great. More...

A friend was raving about Godfrey and his salon - not only for his skills but his ability to really connect to his clients.  I was perhaps a little too excited when I walked in and he had to tell me to chill out a bit (to better enjoy the fabulous head massage and chair) but he put all that crazy energy back into my hair and I can say he is the first stylist to truly get the look I was going for.  Bigger, better was what I was after- and he gave it to me.  The weird thing was - I left and my hair was a bit of a frizz ball (curly hair styling product science and humid day) but when I got home I styled myself and it was fabulous - then I slept on it and it was even MORE fabulous.  I feel like I'm in a backwards hair world - it keeps getting better!  I think he's got me as a forever client....testing his color skills next month.  Will update. When we arrived at Godfrey's he didn't expect my 10 year old daughter's hair to be to her hips because I had it up in a bun. When he took her hair down he was very surprised however NOT intimidated by the long, curly and very tangled hair. She was given a very thorough shampoo, conditioning, scalp massage and detangling process. When Godfrey was done her hair was very manageable. Easily the best experience I've had at a hair salon in a VERY long time. I booked an appointment for a long over due hair cut with Godfrey. This salon is like a 5 star--Michelin, mind you--restaurant; you go to a place like that, not just to eat, but for the entire dining experience. I had a not-so-great experience coloring my black hair at the last place I went to. Zach did the best job fixing it and re-cutting it. Honestly the best coloring job I've ever had done. He was really informative about how to tame it down without loosing the built up highlights and how to maintain the look. The only problem was this was also the most expensive color and cut I've ever gotten by far. I went into the cut thinking it would be a certain number (as cited online) but ended up getting charge much more. And since I was too embarrassed to sound broke I didn't bother asking where the extra charges came from and just paid. With the color, cut, blow dry, and tip it was just under $300. I tried a couple different hair salons in Princeton, and this is my absolute favorite. Everyone at GF is so incredibly nice, and Zach gives me the best haircuts I've ever had.
