Christina and Jake did an amazing job on my engagement photos! We came to San Diego from Maryland and had our photos take at Scripps Pier in La Jolla. I loved that they made us feel comfortable and were able to direct us on how to pose because neither of us really like to have our picture taken. It was also clear that they knew the area very well and were able to pick multiple spots on the beach to use as backdrops. Above all else though I think the best part was the high level of responsiveness and customer service. Christina consistently communicated with me in a timely manner (responded to messages almost immediately every time) and they were able to get our photos to us in less than a week! 2 days before our big day I was told instead of having 2 photographers, there would only be 1 because of another wedding that was last minute rescheduled.
While I completely understand with the pandemic weddings have been cancelled/rescheduled and people are left scrambling. That being said, we paid for 2 photographers and is listed in our contract for the same. Since it was 2 days before our wedding, I had no option other than to just accept it. I figured since we weren’t getting what our contract stated, we could maybe receive some sort of reimbursement for a breach of contract - nope.
Day of the wedding, Christina showed up about 30 minutes early (without me asking). She gave zero direction for any photos besides the couples photos after the ceremony. We had to ask for bridal party pics. I’ve never hired a photographer myself before but from second hand experiences, professional photographers should give some sort of direction.
Now to the actual photos. Couples pics turned out GREAT! But my family photos were completely awful! There were shadows that literally look like we were wearing seatbelts. Obviously I wasn’t aware how bad they were during the actual wedding but when I received the photos a week or so later, I was incredibly upset. I asked “is there any way to edit these?” And I was told no. Shadows can’t be edited and Christina said “I told you we could’ve taken them at another location”. For some reference here, the wedding was in my parents backyard…my entire family was not able to leave the property since we were the ones doing all the work.
No one in my family recalls hearing Christina say this and no one had any clue the pictures were that bad.
After receiving the photos and being told “we can’t edit them,” I then figured okay well you also breached contract by having one photographer - what can be done about that? Christina’s response was “well I showed up 30 minutes early and that should’ve been an extra charge” ….
In summary, I feel like I was scammed, taken advantage of and I have pictures from our wedding that are ruined. We’ll never get a do over of that.
Couples photos were great but everything else was awful. Definitely not worth the price tag. I would be very wary of hiring this photographer purely for the fact that they don’t care about breaching contracts. You could find out 2 days before you’re getting 1 photographer for the price of 2.
