What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Pressing the shutter when people are at their most natural, unaware of the camera entirely. I want to capture their true selves and that means getting them as comfortable as possible, both by engaging with them but also not engaging and fading into the background.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What is it you want more from these photos? Simply memories, something artistic? What do you want to see in a decade's time?
Show me some photos you would like me to emulate. What is it that you like about them? Show me some you don't like. What is that you don't like?
Who are you? What's your personality? How can that come across visually? How do others tell you that comes across visually?

Meeting fun people and making them happy—and witnessing their most special days.

I have a unique background—physics, so I deeply understand lenses and light, and international journalism, often in crisis zones. Both of those, together with a good eye, make me a unique photographer. Perhaps more importantly, I’m easy-going, fun, and personable—so get the best out of them.
