What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
The DJ must be knowledgeable in all genres of music and be able to read the crowd in order to determine which songs they seem to be liking. Play the "Bangers" (songs that everyone knows the words to and can't wait to get on the dance floor when they hear them.) Encourage song requests and do your best to play those songs in a timely manner.
How would you describe your ‘style’?
I have been dancing my whole life and my DJ 'style' comes directly from that experience. When you're on the floor, you have dance moves that go with a certain song or specific beat and you have an idea in your head about which song you would like to hear next to keep the vibe going. Now as a DJ, I have an idea about that next song and I'm able to play it, and the next one, and so on to keep the vibe going.
What do you love most about your job?
I love interacting with my crowd and getting them involved in the music. Whether it's singing the words to their favorite songs or line dancing. I also appreciate the trust that my clients have in me to perform as their DJ. Each event is uniquely important and I want to do my best to meet and exceed their expectations.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I was working with a friend for a few years who had his own DJ company and at some point I decided that I wanted to start my own. My friend and other DJ's in my community gave me the knowledge and advice that I needed to get my company up and running.
