The newest tasty gem on the block. Third time eating Turgeau's today so it was review time! This spot hands down was needed and fits so effortlessy into the Historic Dowtown ecosystem I like to call "the island". Home. Today's to-go: -gumbo grits -blknd shrimp poboy w/ jambalaya -greek salad -chorizo burrito Lazy New Year's day comfort food needs fully met. Seasoned, cooked and presented perfectly. 10/10 recommend as it has been every time I stop by. Chefs John & Rosie hit the mark here. Also a community oriented duo and have shown so much support to other local businesses here including myself! Chef Rosie and her baked goods supplier (Kristin's Healthy Krumms) killed it at their Halloween themed kitchen portrait session with me! 📸 FOH staff always smiling and helpful. The friendliest staff and tastiest food made a great first-time experience for us. We’ve been wanting to check out this restaurant for months and so glad we did! My friend and I both got the DELICIOUS BBQ Shrimp and Grits and the kids ate the Greek omelette. Everything was just right. ❤️ Also love the extra effort the staff makes to adjust food items for individuals with food allergies. They really go the extra mile to please the customers and it shows. I had breakfast there on Sunday morning (today) and the food was fantastic. The dining room was 100% empty, however, and the restaurant has been open a month! I would have anticipated a SRO crowd! I soon surmised what was happening: to see the menu, make a selection, and pay, my dining companion and I had to use our phones. Worse, before we could access the on-line menu I had to enter my phone number and credit card info. I’d have done it, but we were trying to order / pay separately and I got kicked out of the program when I saw what appeared to be a single total and pressed the back button. Couldn’t get back in. I order stuff and enter info like that everyday, literally, on Amazon and the like, but it seemed gimmicky to have to do it before I could order in a restaurant. This isn’t Austin. I pictured my older neighbors and friends hating the “technology threshold,” and figured that was why the place was empty. The staff we spoke to as we exited mentioned how crowded it had been the previous Sunday. They seemed bewildered by the lack of patronage today. When we left, there was one other table. Again: food, service, prices, location, atmosphere all excellent. Print some menus and take my order and I’ll go back! More...
