Robby is magic! I live in Silver Lake (have for a long time) and on a whim looked up this place. My hair was starting to become a wild dry wavy nest. I chose Robby after looking at his Instagram. The cuts and styles were exactly what I was going for. He was super attentive and really kind. He checked in with me every step of the way and took his time making sure I was happy. I've lived in LA for 12 years and never gone to the same hair salon twice. Before my wedding, I got my hair cut by Sterling, and then a week later, eyebrows and mini highlights from Jennifer, and both times I left feeling like, "these people get me. I'm so glad I found Gamine beauty. Sterling is a precision cutter who'd put Vidal Sassoon himself to shame. They play punk rock; none of this hair salon from frou musack and that counter cultural appreciation shows on every head of hair that walks out. Clients are a self selected crowd from the Silver Lake / Echo Park / Koreatown environs. Sterling gave me a precision bob with platinum hair and deep blue tips. I have never felt so confident in my hair as an expression of my individuality. I get compliments everywhere I go. I have also gotten superb haircuts from Robby and Tahib does my blondeing to amazing effect - the best balayage I've ever had. LA salons are supposed to be so cut throat and expensive. I don't usually write reviews but Gamine Beauty truly deserves this!! I went in about a month ago for a pixie cut. I had never ever cut my hair that drastically and was extremely nervous. I called to inquire about setting up an appointment and the same day I was able to get a consultation with Sterling. When meeting with him he really listened while I expressed my concerns and answered all of my questions. He assured me and totally gave me the confidence to go through with it. The next morning I had an appointment. As soon as I walked in for my appointment I was offered coffee with a warm welcome. Parking is great by the way. I started with a wash and then straight to cutting. I have really curly hair. He cut it little by little and really took his time to see how my hair would naturally lay. He was so meticulous and so detailed. It's the best hair cut I've ever received!! He really is a pixie cut genius!!  He paid attention to the shape of my face and really made sure to get it right. After the cut, he spent time with me on how to style it. Took his time playing with the cut to see what looked best. I brought in a hair product I wanted to try and he used it. After not liking how the product made my hair, he rinsed my hair out and recommended a different one. Overall, amazing experience at this salon with a very talented and amazing stylist. I was transformed to "my best self" by Jennifer Cunningham last Friday! I have extremely challenging hair texture to work with and I have had too many PTSD haircuts/hair color/eyebrow shaping experiences than I can count! Jennifer just nailed it all perfectly! I had been thinking about getting a short hair cut for a while, but wanted to find a place that didn't break the bank. Gamine Beauty was amazing. I've been seeing Eduardo for my color for almost three years now, and I can't praise him enough. He is a highly skilled colorist, and cares about his clients hair. When I first came to him, I had chin length, over-processed, brown hair, I wanted to go blonde right away, he convinced me to do it gradually to avoid any issues with breakage down the road- he's been tending to my hair for all this time now, gradually getting me to blonde and healthy. He took the time to listen to what I wanted to achieve with my haircut, while also being meticulous and creative in his craft. I took a chance on Gamine and Robby because I had never been there before and only read the yelp reviews before going. Robby did exactly what I wanted with my blonde hair, which had grown out highlights. My roots were looking very grown out like they needed maintenance, but I still wanted natural and low maintenance look. Robby literally executed exactly what I asked for! I can't say enough about this salon! So happy that I made the decision to make this my new hair home. Robby has completely transformed my previously over-processed mess on my head to a newer, prettier, and much healthier style. He just knows exactly what will look great on you, knows the perfect cut, and is by far a master. He also does the most incredible blowout EVER!! Eduardo is not only amazing with my color but also is the absolute BEST with the keratin relaxing treatment. I don't even have to fully dry my hair any longer and have ditched my flat iron for now. STERLING is heaven sent! I am beyond happy I took the plunge with Sterling to cut my hair into a pixie. His cuts are detailed, precise, and he takes extra care to listen to my concerns! I was so impulsive that I didn't even bring in a picture of the pixie cut I wanted! Sterling took the time to work with me and make sure the cut flattered my face.It's been 3 months since my last pixie cut and it's grown out SO BEAUTIFULLY! I have never walked out of a salon feeling soooooo happy about my new hair. I took a chance with coming here for a cut because I've never been here before. (Although the ratings and pics of client's hair were a huge factor in the choosing of this place.) I was looking for a place that actually cut hair because it seems like most salons around where I live just showcase the balayage and ombré dye jobs so I knew I had to go somewhere legit. Anthony was my stylist! He did such an amazing job!! My hair was exactlyyy how I wanted it. I really appreciated his hospitality as well the times he asked me if the layers looked okay/my bangs were at a good length. Before we even got started with anything, we talked about the look I was going for.
