I am sooo lucky to have Rodney in my life! He is such an amazing, giving, caring, humble man!!! Not to mention tall (6'4"), dark, and handsome! !!! First, he brought me a teddy bear, chocolates and wine, then he took me out for an amazing dinner right here in Guthrie, OK! It was my choice of where we would dine tonight. He said we could go to the city or whatever I wanted to do. I suggested staying right here in Guthrie and trying Gage's Steakhouse, as we had never been before. If you have never been there, it is worth the experience! The building itself was once an old train depot. As we were there, a train went by shaking the table a little... I can only imagine what it must have been like to have lived back then, to ride the train, eat in the dinner car... I say touché to Gage's for making this experience a special one! And a Valentine rose from the owner Mr. Gage, thank you so much! To Bob Ferris the chef, thank you Sir for cooking this delightful dinner for us tonight, it was amazing!! I’ve been here in the past and it was great food and great service. I can excuse being understaffed, who isn’t these days. . but the food tonight was awful. For paying almost $300 for 4 people to eat and being served cold, over cooked everything? Not worth it. I would have sent it back if I knew it wouldn’t have taken another hour to get. All of the steak was over cooked; my mom ordered medium, got well done, my husband ordered medium rare and got medium well. I ordered the duck; the fat was not rendered properly and it was severely over cooked. Couldn’t even cut it. The side dishes were all cold and we were missing half of the expected sides. My dads salmon was supposed to be stuffed and there was NOTHING in it. Whoever cut the veggies that day got a little slap happy with a melon baller. I could go on and on. The ONLY reason I didn’t complain in restaurant was because I didn’t want to wait another 45 minutes for food. The only redeeming quality was our waiter and the poor guy had the entire back room to himself. Talk about a mess. If your kitchen can’t service the number of people eating, then don’t sit that many. The food is exceptional. We really love it and when we used to come visit town, we always made a point to eat here as a special treat. Now that we live here, we don’t eat here often enough! But anytime I have out of town guests, this is where we go! I always thought I couldn’t afford it as a single parent because I remember it being very pricey but I must have been dreaming.
