My husband and I were looking for a fun, day-trip experience, and decided to join Deanna and her Fruits & Roots crew for their Monticello Wine Tour to Charlottesville - - I am so glad we did!   From start to finish, it was a wine-tastic time!  The tour takes you to a few wineries around the Charlottesville area, provides lunch at a cool, Colonial inspired restaurant, and provides fun, lively, & very friendly transport!  You not only partake (lots!) in some of the best wines in Virginia, but also learn about the grape growing/wine making process.  Thanks Deanna & team for a great day!  We loved the entire experience and we will definitely be a returning customer!!  I am working now to gather some gal-pals for a chick day, and all of them are excited about a wine tour  :) More...

We chose fruits and roots wine tours for our friends bachelorette weekend and we had SO much fun! We chose the private package and were personally escorted by Deanna to three vineyards and a surprise location (just for photos and little extra history! ). Deanna made sure we felt like VIP's walking through every door. Everything was taken care of from breakfast to the tastings to the BBQ lunch we had at one of the vineyards. She helped make this day very special for our Bride-To-Be and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience! Highly recommend! More...

What an AMAZING way to spend any day! I spent this trip with my mom, step-dad, step-mom, step-sister, and niece! FUN for ALL of the 21 and over crowd in the family. We got picked up by a brand new and very comfortable bus. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and given gift bags with goodies (water, granola bar, a scent bag with soy candle samples from Pink Zebra and brochures for wineries). We were offered an all inclusive continental breakfast (and lunch which I will get to later). The continental breakfast selection included: apple cinnamon muffins, individual sweet potato pie (my fav), grapes, and strawberries & blueberries. Deanna, the owner and tour guide was very energetic and informative providing great historical facts of Virginia and Virginia wine. We enjoyed wine at New Kent , Barboursville, and Horton wineries. The tastings were  informative and the wine made it fun. In between New Kent Winery and Barboursville we stopped to have lunch at Michie's Tavern. Keeping up with the historical theme, I felt transformed as we had an inclusive buffet lunch there as their staff were dressed in time period clothing (Thomas Jefferson era). Food was excellent (I wish I had more) and it really helped later as we drank for the duration of the tours. My hands down favorite winery was Horton. The staff was great, they even had a food truck outside with snack and hot food. The wine was by far my favorite. I love their Norton, however ALL of their wines from white to the desserts were fantastic! For those passengers who wanted to grab a snack on the way back home, Deanna made a stop that satisfied everyone's hunger/snack crave. Will definitely do this trip again and again. I have already invited my co-workers and a bunch of my friends. We are even thinking of doing a private tour in the summer. Can't wait!P.S. Call Deanna directly for the better deal. More...

I found this tour on groupon and I called Deanna to get tickets for me and my friend. She was super nice and I was super excited to go on this tour. The tour comes with complimentary breakfast and lunch. We got picked up at the little station behind Freedom Car Wash and Wawa. The bus was brand new and very comfortable. They had a selection of apple cinnamon muffins, sweet potato pastries, grapes, and strawberries with blueberries for breakfast. The muffins and sweet potato pastries made by a contestant on Master Chef Junior and the muffins were great. I didn't have the pastries because I don't like sweet potatoes. We were offered a bag with water and a granola bar with brochures for wineries and some for the ones we were going to. The was also a scent bag with soy candle samples from Pink Zebra. They smelled great. Next on the list was gathering the rest of the group for the trip from Norfolk. Once we got everyone, we were offered mimosas; candor l cranberry or orange. We chose orange. Deanna introduced herself, daughter, and granddaughter. She also introduced those who she knew who were on the trip. She provided some great historic facts like the origin of witchduck. She discussed the history of Virginia wine and information about Virginia Born presidents. Our first stop was New Kent Winery and our host was great and very polite. The tasting was very informative and fun. Their wines were fantastic and the Vineyard was amazing. It wasn't on the itinerary, but Deanna put it on there. Next was Michie Tavern. We had lunch there and the buffet was great. The wine tasting, not so much. Third stop was Baubersville and the wine was ok. We weren't really a fan of the environment because I felt out of place even though I was dressed pretty nicely. Last stop was Horton and our host was amazing! We had so much fun! We will definitely do this tour again in the fall because it was great and it was so much fun! Happy to have been part of the inaugural trip! More...
