Very good German cuisine. Nice find in Santa Rosa. Schnitzel and spaetzle are very good. Sauerbraten over the top good and delicious red cabbage! A lot of food! Great salads and Italian choices too. Nice ambience, good place for families or friends. Not loud, service is good and will definitely return. Prepare to take home leftovers!!! Yum! More...

We met here with some friends for dinner last night. What a disappointment! 1. The beer was over-the-top expensive. Seriously? $10 for a glass of so-so German beer? 2. The Caesar salad was quite a disappointment. Barely any flavor and NO anchovies! We wouldn't have ordered had we known that. Our food server even asked if we wanted anchovies and we told her, "Yes! Lots!" 3. The mushroom pizza was passable. 4. The patio chairs were so uncomfortable that we couldn't wait until our dinner was over so I could remove myself from the discomfort. No, we wouldn't recommend it and we will not be returning. More...

My husband I met when we were both stationed in the Army in Germany. We are always on the hunt for German food, it's funny how hard it is to find any decent places out here on the West coast. It is especially hard to find a German restaurant that does Jaegerschnitzel the way we remembered it, with a brown mushroom gravy vs. the paprika gravy that most German places I have seen serve. Driving up to this place, we thought it odd to have it in a medical plaza, but at the same time the medical professionals need to eat too right? Despite the odd location, when you walk inside you get transported to this modern little restaurant. Even though it was decorated in a modern style, it still felt cozy. There was only one of other customer in the restaurant when we went in, but as it came time for us to leave, quite a few tables had filled up. It was lunch in the middle of the week, so not a typically busy time, but they seemed to be getting great business. We put in our order for a beer each and to start with a soft pretzel. Having seen so many pictures of the soft pretzel here on Yelp, it was a no brainer. The soft pretzel was massive, but it was still delicious, especially dipping it into the beer cheese sauce. Not the best soft pretzel I've had but it was definitely delicious and a meal in and of itself. If you order it, bring at least 3 other friends to help you finish it all! We decided to order the sausage plate and the Jaegerschnitzel for our main courses, which we decided to share with each other. Despite being nearly full from the soft pretzel, we mustered the strength to get even more food in our bellies. The main two highlights of our main courses were: The so delicately fried super thin pork chop, golden and crispy and was delicious on its own without the gravy even! The Hungarian sausage! Wowza! It was the special sausage of the day, so we chose that and the knockwurst I think it was. The other sausage was meh, but that Hungarian sausage was just wow! The fries, well they were pretty basic, the latke was pretty good, the mushroom gravy had a nice flavor to it and complimented the schnitzel well, but really the schnitzel didn't need anything because it was so good on its own. The one thing to be wary about...this place is not for the budget conscious! For the two of us, one beer each, a soft pretzel, jaegerschnitzel, and sausage plate...along with taxes and a 20% tip brought the total to around $110. I know nothing is really all that reasonably priced any more, but still even with the price tag it was worth it to us to have had some great authentic German food. More...

My husband and I met in Germany while serving in the 90s, so we are always searching for a good German restaurant serving authentic German food. We started off with the soft pretzels, which was huge, perfectly chewy and delicious. We enjoyed both the beer cheese and mustard dipping sauces that came with it. We also ordered the two Sausage Plate with the German Potato Cake and the Tellerschnitzel which comes with a mushroom gravy. We got the sausage of the day which was a Hungarian sausage and the Knock Wurst. Both were very good though the Hungarian one was our favorite. The potato cake was delicious as well, topped with sour cream and green onions. The Tellerschnitzel was my main reason for wanting to come here. Where I was stationed in Germany it was called a Jagerschnitzel. Let me tell you, the schnitzel was absolutely fried up to perfection! The batter was so crispy and crunchy and the pork was so tender! The gravy was AMAZING, it packed so much mushroom flavor and tasted just like I remember having in Germany back in the 90s. I also ordered one of my favorites the German Red Cabbage slaw, I remember having it while staying with a German family over the holidays, and it did not disappoint! While we sat with our beers after ordering our food, the owner stopped by our table to greet us and chat for a bit. The owner and staff we met were very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was modern yet it still felt cozy. I am excited to go back again and get the German Pork Knuckle. If you are looking for authentic German food, this place is it! The only thing I wish was that the pomme frites that came with the schnitzel were the thicker kind like they served us in Germany, and that the beer menu had more options. I would love to see some Hefe. Still the Pilsner and the Dark Beer (can't remember the name) were both good. More...

We went with a group of 8 and arrived at 5 pm. We were the first customers of the evening. The service started out excellent. Very attentive and the food was good. And we finishing our food, we were all having a good time when one of the staff came to the table and abruptly started clearing and cleaning. Then she handed us the bill. Because we were more than 6 they added a 22% service charge. We talked about that being high but did not let it ruin the experience. The person clearing the table did that for us when she said we need you to finish and leave because others were waiting for the table. Stunned! We had just barely finished and paid. We went inside to speak with her and reminded we had spent a lot and paid 22%. Her reply "I am sure the people waiting for what table will spend just as much." Then she said, "if you wanted the table all night you should have told us." At that point we asked to speak with the manager so she marched us over to her. The manager acted stunned and surprised by the attitude. She said she would handle the matter by the end of the evening. So let's see why they did. We would love to hear a response from the management on how this totally rude behavior was handled. Otherwise, I would skip this place because they clearly want your money and then to have you scoot out of there. More...

This used to be a favorite place to eat, food is great. However, there's not much consistency here when it comes to service. When it's good, it's good but when it's bad, it is pretty bad. As mentioned by someone else, a bad experience would consist of waiting to even be acknowledged while watching all the surrounding tables be served beverages, have their orders taken, etc. My biggest complaint would be that it seems nearly impossible to make a reservation here lately because they never answer the phone. So we usually show up with no reservation to be turned away, pretty disappointing. Friendly owner and food is really yummy. The one light yellow sauce they serve in place of mustard with every dish is a delightful salad dressing im sure but falls far short of proper mustard for any German dish. Potato pancakes served without sour cream and apple sauce? As a young millennial, I don't like to complain and try to take things as they come, but I'm pretty disappointed. The ambiance and space is great here at Franchettis and dining in is a fun experience. I ate here once a couple of summers ago (mother of 2 and currently pregnant so my memory is fuzzy) and enjoyed the Margherita Pizza and a crusted Mac&cheese at the time. Decided to come back to order to go and forgot to ask for utensils (wasn't asked if I needed some) and no napkins in the bag. Sure this would be fine if I was going straight home, but I'm currently at my old house that I'm cleaning/preparing to rent out in the next week (so it's completely empty, but luckily I found a pair of clean wood chopsticks to eat with my Beet Salad). Getting to the review the Beet Salad is really oily. Probably should have asked for dressing on the side. Pretty inedible at this point though, which is a bummer because I'm pregnant, trying to eat healthy, and still hungry. ($14) I ordered a 12oz Iced Latte too and received this prior to my takeout order and it came hot which is not that bad since I didn't speak up and burned my tongue for it. It tastes good though! There are no non-diary options; I asked. Also, not a big deal. Come in for the ambiance and pizza though! More...

The crispy prosciutto was a wonderful addition to the dish. We had this dish as an appetizer split among three but I would order this as an extra entree to eat alone because of how good it is! Next, we got the pesto and Italian sausage pizza, which I had no problems with. It was very decent size for the price. The bombolinis were delicious and my second favorite part of my meal. The service was wonderful. The workers were always around when we needed them. We sat outside because my dog was there and they even offered him water! Also, the decor was very lovely. We came during happy hour and ordered the schnitzel burger which was fantastic, came with crunchy pickled cabbage on a brioche bun. Big enough to cut into quarters and all have a big piece. We also got the burrata plate which was a something I always order when I see it on a menu and it this was the best I've ever had. It came with homemade persimmon preserves, lingonberry jam and paper thin crispy bread prosciutto and their home maid focaccia which was roasted. The star of the night was the pork knuckle. Kind of rude and would not seat us. I've been here a couple times with my wife and loved the pizza. The first time we were there our server seemed to be having a bad day. She just wasn't friendly at all. When I brought it up to my wife, she told me it looked like the owner or manager was yelling at her when we walked in. There was little attention given. However, another server that seemed like maybe a co-owner did check on us so that made it a bit better. Last night I wanted to take my 21 year old son, who moved out into his own apartment to Franchetti's to celebrate. My son didn't get off of work until 6:30 so I went online to make a reservation earlier in the day. I didn't see a way to do that so I called Franchetti's and got an answering machine that said: "It's Saturday October 1st. We open at 3:00 and close at 9:00. We seat until 8:00. So it seemed like it wouldn't be a problem. My son and I arrived at 7:10. We stood there for several minutes and were finally greeted. I said table for two please. She asked if I had reservations and I said no, I went online and tried and even called to make one but got an answering machine. The lady (who was nice) went over to the owner or manager and asked her if she could "seat two walk-ins". The owner angrily barked NO! It was only a few feet away from us so it's like she didn't even care that we could hear her act like that. Who the hell treats patrons that way? There were at least four open tables BTW. This restaurant is so fun, so cool, and so worth trying! I love going with multiple people because they branch out and order things I might not have tried. This restaurant has a very Hipp German themed menu if you're willing to branch out from pizza and pasta. If you remember Rosso pizza in Montgomery Village I love the pizza crust you are in for a treat, it's available at Franchettis. They do a piadine he, which is basically a pizza dough, they throw a salad on top of it, you fold it in half and eat it like a giant pizza salad sandwich. If you haven't had one, put it on your list of things to do because it's life-changing.The regular pizzas are fantastic, my husband's favorite is the spaghetti and meatball pizza. They do a great Arancini, always really interesting appetizers, the menu doesn't change very often, but I like having all of my favorites there on a regular basis. I'm sure they have specials and I just didn't notice it. The schnitzel is huge, and like all schnitzels, my problem is that there's no sauce. I understand that culturally schnitzel is served next to some cabbage and maybe they give you a lemon wedge. Some places give you a tartar sauce type option but that's probably blasphemous..... I've always loved this breaded cutlet, pounded thin, cooked perfectly, nice and crispy... but then just lacking sauce. To be honest I don't even know what type of sauce I would choose, I just like flavor. So it is traditional, served naked, and if you love schnitzel head down here and check it out. More...
