FSE is def a low profile hidden-gem OTP Atlanta. I've come here 3 times, tried each of its specialty: week day lunch menu, dinner menu and Sunday brunch. All of the dishes I had are splendid: they are good portion, looking gorgeous, tasting even better.Tip: you have to order the desserts, I think it's part of the reason they kept all the regulars coming back. Also, love my Irish Coffee during brunch.Tip No.2: its next door Circle Noodle is quite decent too. Especially when its cold and chilly weather, a nice bowl of hot borth Udon noodle is always my comfort food. More...

We were looking for something a little different and a good friend of ours told us about this restaurant. We decided to go last night and OH MY GOD what a treat! This hidden gem is in a shopping center off of Holcomb Bridge that I drive by every single day. I had no idea they were down there. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by the host who took us directly to our table. The inside of this restaurant is absolutely beautiful! Every single detail from floor to ceiling is remarkable. We ordered drinks that came out extremely fast. The chef came over and greeted us, as we had never been there before. He brought us some samples of the soup of the day, which was unbelievable! We tried the short ribs appetizer. The meat literally fell off the bone! We ordered a Caesar salad as well. The greens were probably the freshest, greenest, most crispy greens I've ever had on a salad. The dressing is house made and unbelievably delicious. After scanning the menu and having a hard time deciding what we were going to try, because everything looked so good, we finally ordered. I ordered the scallops and my girlfriend ordered the halibut. I was completely blown away with both dishes! Desserts were nothing short of amazing as well. We are foodies and we eat out often. It is very rare that we come across excellent food AND excellent service! I'm sad that I'm just now discovering this restaurant. I'm excited to try everything else on the menu. We will definitely be back very soon! More...

We’ve visited a few times, and it’s always been a great experience. Very relaxed, but upscale. We usually like to sit at the bar, although the table seating is nice, too. Many of the food selections I’ve tried here, equal anything I’ve had in Paris. The desserts, though... fabulous! There is a nicely curated wine selection. I was alone in Alpharetta for a work event and wanted to grab a nice dinner before my flight the next morning. I came across FSE on Yelp and made a reservation over the phone for a party of one. Their online reservation system didn't let me make a one person res for the chef's table, so if you're dining alone and want a seat by their open kitchen, I would call!My server, Brian (?) was so great! He helped me decide on my 3 appetizers (vs the 1 app and 1 entree I was originally going to get). Mushroom Ravioli with their Country Bread for dipping - it was a little too salty, but the county bread really helped. I scarfed it down anyway. Prob would not get the bread again.Crisp Octopus - Not the biggest fan of this one. It was a little too spiced for me. I think it would have tasted better if I had paired it with a lighter appetizer. The potatoes were great though. Veal Marsala - I'm going to dream about this veal. It was so tender... like melt in your mouth tender. The oyster mushroom and veal together went so nicely with the gnocchi. It was basically perfect. I just wished I had more room in my stomach to finish it. As much as I loved being able to taste 3 appetizers, it was definitely too much food for me. I ended up taking home 1/3 of my meal back to the hotel. I also think I should've gone for a citrus-y salad instead of the octopus. Greens would've really rounded out this meal.Service was good! My server checked up on me a lot and I think it was because i was dining alone, lol. Some of the other staff looked a little confused as to why I was sitting at the 4-person chef's table by myself. They even brought me a pre-dinner gift. It's all good though. I get it. Overall, a great experience and would recommend!! More...

While it took waaaay too long for our lunch , and that part would make this a 3 star, the food was too good and made up for it. Yes, I would have enjoyed the Sugo a lot more if I didn't have to rush it, but I'd go again for sure. The fresh pasta, the truffle oil, it was all just an amazing mixture of flavor. My wife also really enjoyed her burger, they cook it so perfectly with that little bit of crispness to it.The service is good, not fantastic, pretty average from that stand point. But didn't get in the way, just didn't match the level of food. So, go here but give yourself a lot of extra time. It probably took them :30 to bring our meals, especially for lunch that's crazy and we had to rush out to pick up our kids. More...

Just squeaks out 4 stars. Good food and lovely ambiance but some disappointments with expectations and flavor. The interior is well designed and the restaurant has a great patio. Service was attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the stellar cocktails and our meal. We started with the escargot. It was delicious and well balanced though there were too few of the actual escargot themselves. For our mains we ordered the ragout and the short rib. Both were good but neither absolutely stellar. I felt that my beef short rib definitely need a little bit more flavor and more depth as it was less enjoyable the more I ate. We finished with two desserts: The chocolate mousse and the pot de creme. I am a chocoholic but the pot de creme was absolutely the star and was lovely. My biggest disappointment of the evening is difficult to reflect in the rating. I booked the chef's table but there was no chef! We could see into the kitchen but no one explained dishes or engaged with us beyond usual service. It was a Sunday evening so perhaps the chef wasn't working, but if so, then the reservation choice shouldn't be available and it certainly should have been communicated when we arrived. The chef's tables are pretty uncomfortable: too low for the bar seating and low backs on the chairs. Without the chef's table experience, I would have rather been seated at a regular table. Maybe my expectations were too high after reading other reviews.Overall, Foundation is a lovely restaurant and worth visiting for a romantic evening or an intimate dinner with friends. More...

FSE is one of our "go to" places for a nice dinner out in east Roswell.  When you first walk in, you notice the unique interior design: from the shelves to the walls and on the bathroom tiles, this place doesn't seem like it's in a suburban strip shopping center.  The host/hostess is always friendly and reservations are promptly honored. We like to sit at the chef's table (parties of four, possibly five?) and watch the show.  Chef Mel is a food artist.  His plates are a feast for the eyes and palate. He pays attention to every detail.  One note about the high top chairs - they are a little tall for the table and seem awkward but we don't mind so much especially when we get our food.  The outdoor patio is nice during spring and fall. Our favorites at FSE include the mushroom ravioli, the pâté which is one of the charcuterie options, the little gem Caesar salad (anchovies and all), the short rib sugo, and the chicken bolognese pasta. We also like to hang with the hangar steak :) We are thrilled to know that the cannale (sp?) is on the dessert menu now.Service has been excellent 99.9999% of the time (we had one off night several months ago with an MIA server, but it was an anomaly, and the manager comped our dessert).  One of our favorite servers is Justin and we always enjoy seeing him. Chef Mel truly cares about his menu as well as his customers.  We return time and time again and we also enjoy bringing newbies to FSE to share the love. It's wonderful to have an "in-town" place in the burbs. More...

Everything he recommend or said was 100% true, I love when the wait staff are as excited about the food as we are. We started off with drinks and then had the mushroom raviolis, pork ribs and Octopus. We then had Scallops and Panna Cotta for dessert. We couldn't really pick a favorite dish because they were seriously all so good. The octopus, as someone who only eats calamari (because everything else is so hard and chewy) was perfect. So soft, you couldn't tell it was octopus. The raviolis and the sauce ..... oh my. So good and tasty. Jason recommended we get bread for dipping and I am SOO thankful we did. There was nothing left to clean when he came to get the plates. Ribs is something we hardly ever order either. They're typically tough or too fatty so we just avoid but I'd heard good things about these and boy was everyone right. They were so good. Crispy and fall off the bone - YUM! The scallop dish was HEAVENLY!  I mean, everything about this dish was excellent. The cauliflower mash was the best I've ever had and we wish it brought more. Next time I want a side of it for myself. And the scallops? The best we've ever had, seriously. Anywhere. I can't wait to come back here, it had been a long time since we went to eat somewhere and everything was perfection, from making reservations, having them open doors for us (they don't have to, but it's such a nice touch)  Everyone was so friendly and kind and all the other tables around me seemed to be enjoying dinner and chatting with all the staff.
