David is fantastic. Our dog is very sweet with us at home, but has some issues with other dogs and people- we have avoided both on walks since we adopted him. We've slowly introduced him to other dogs and family members, but still he barks for several minutes and lunges at dogs. He's slowly getting better. I was astonished at how quickly David introduced his dog to ours and had them off leash near each other with no problems in the first class! I thought this could take years. It gave me more confidence that our dog is capable of being cool around others. It will take practice on our part at home, but thank you David for showing us that our boy is capable of becoming the dog we want him to be. I highly recommend Found. More...

It's rare that I write a Yelp review but Found absolutely made me feel compelled to! I feel like I lucked out a bit on my rescue. He was found in a dumpster in Puerto Rico on death's doorstep. He made a miraculous recovery then he came to Chicago to be my forever puppy. That said, he is still a puppy. As a puppy dad, I feel responsible for ensuring my young lad lives his best life. As do all people, dogs require a sense of purpose. Dogs are compassionate, affection beings but they are also tough. They take a step on the toe with a yelp (pun?) and keep on walking. We could all use a lesson from dogs. That said, Leo from Found, taught me more lessons than I ever thought I could learn about dogs. I grew up with dogs. When I was 7 years old I went to school early the day after we got my first dog and stood outside of my first grade classroom door with a picture of him because I was so proud. The pride I felt then doesn't hold a candle to the way I feel now. Leo and everyone at Found not only enhanced my dog's life but they enhanced mine as well. I 100% recommend taking your dog here for literally anything. If my boy loves Found, your boy or girl will too!P.S. My puppy boy gets super excited every time we go back. To me, that means a lot! VERY pleased so far with the training for my 1.5 yr old blind pit bull. We've had only 2 one hour private sessions  with Leo so far and the behavior has already improved dramatically.  He clearly has a lot of knowledge and isn't just throwing generic dog training suggestions out there. Our primary concern was our dogs aggression and overall hyper reactions to other dogs so Leo brought out his own dog to help create the situations we need to work on, and within about ten minutes I saw improvement and had a much better understanding of what I need to do to get the dog to behave in a healthier way. We went to the park for the second session to continue the work and it's clear that his guidance and suggestions are having a big impact! Looking forward to continue working with Leo and recommend him to anyone in need of training for a challenging dog..... More...

I am so pleased with Found and their training practices. Jawaan is our private trainer (I have a pitbull mix rescue sweetheart who has trouble with other dogs and socialization). Jawaan's patience and intuition are just what I need in terms of a trainer. He clearly knows dogs and understands how my dog works. He teaches me how to teach her. I know my sweetie pie dog is going to be just fine, with practice on my end and consistency, as well as confined training as long as she needs it. Found is definitely the place to go for this sort of training. I am very happy with the results and recommend the private sessions, perhaps even with Jawaan. More...

Found has made first time puppy ownership very easy and rewarding. We love seeing our pup advance while keeping in tact his playful and happy spirit! We researched the puppy imprinting program before getting our first pup but couldn't make a decision because it was expensive and we'd have to give up our boy while he was just a tiny, cute puppy. After the first few days with our puppy we quickly realized how confusing and difficult it is to implement every single thing we read in puppy books and the best thing for all of us (if we were committed to having an obedient and balanced dog) was to go through with it. Puppy imprinting was DEFINITELY worth every penny. Our pup learned A LOT but I think we learned more!David was our trainer and he was the absolute best! I cannot begin to explain everything he covered in just a few weeks. He really got to know us and what kind of dog we were working for and then he got down to business making it happen. He was so thorough in asking us questions about what kind of activities we wanted to do with our dog, our house set-up, where the dog would be allowed, our schedules, etc. He built the puppy's entire training around this information. Our dog was heavily socialized and put in so many different environments with people, kids, sounds, and activities. As a result, this pup REALLY loves other dogs and people and you can't do much to startle or stir him. I could've never given him the level of exposure he received early on and I believe this has made all of the difference in making him so easy-going and happy. David also had us in for training sessions where he was extremely patient. He made sure we really understood how to perform all of the handling techniques, commands, and drills that he taught our dog. It was a lot to take in but he was a very good teacher and very adamant that we know how to communicate effectively with our pup. He really got to know our dog and all of his personality quirks and this has made the world of difference in his training. You can tell David  really loves the dogs he works with. He's so authoritative but also very kind to them. Our dog absolutely adores him and this made leaving him for the imprinting session so much easier. At the end of the session, we got back a very happy, playful pup who has a very clear understanding of what we want from him when we ask for it. We've had several people comment on his good behavior for such a young pup.Furthermore, we have continued our puppy's training with obedience classes at Found. We sought out the courses David teaches (because we really do just love him). Theses courses provide such good information. Our pup is still learning and advancing, but truly, I like to think these classes are more for us. The small group size affords everyone a lot of attention on their handling and techniques. A lot of times a simple change in something we are doing can make the world of difference in how our dog responds or understands. David is so good at pointing these things out and helping.Very long story short - If you are wondering if you should go to Found for a service - You definitely should! More...

Found has truly changed my dogs life. I sent her for the 2 week bootcamp class because she had a lot of nervous energy and anxiety. They trained her and me more in the 30 minute consultation than petco had done in a 6 week long course. My dog is so much happier now because she knows what she is supposed to be doing rather than just having the freedom to be a spaz. I also frequently use found for boarding. They are excellent!! I get video updates everyday and they even keep up with training her while she is there. Making her lay down and stay before being allowed the reward to play with the other dogs. I'm so happy we brought our dog to Found!  Back in September we rescued our 1.5 year old pit bull from CACC, and once he became acclimated in our home, he quickly displayed signs of fear aggression to everyone except us. We first tried working with a positive reinforcement trainer and certified behaviorist who only left us feeling hopeless, quick to label our dog's case as "severe." Their methods had very little affect on modifying his behavior, we were overwhelmed with the multitude of suggested lifestyle changes we make to cater to his needs, and began to believe our dog would never allow anyone near him, us or in our home. When we started to panic about what we would do with our seemingly unapproachable dog while we would be gone on vacation, we gave Found a shot. During our evaluation, the trainer already embodied more hope, confidence and skill than said Behaviorist. Luke @ Found even took his leash from us to see how he would react, something everyone else had yet to do. Our pup is now a week into boot camp and we couldn't be more pleased. His progress has been phenomenal.  The video updates are fantastic, and every trainer is treating him with compassion and respect. He is learning quickly and accomplishing things I thought may never be possible! Yes, the cost of boot camp is not cheap...but so far it's proving worth it to know our dog is in good hands of a trusted team that is teaching him how to be a confident, obedient, socialized "normal" dog. Thank you to the Found team for being open to helping dogs who may not be the easiest. We can't wait to continue to work with him and the training team! More...

This is long overdue and I don't know why it's taken me so long to write this review! We love our shepherd mix, Ruby, more than life itself so it was VERY hard for us to admit that she had some behavioral issues and that maybe sending her to a boot camp would be in everyone's best interest. We took the plunge and set up a consultation with Ryan (he came HIGHLY recommended by my yoga teacher and clearly everyone on Yelp). Ryan definitely gave us some tough love which is exactly what we needed. We had been living in a world where we'd always make excuses for Ruby's actions vs dealing with them head on to prevent them from happening in the future. We enrolled her immediately into the 2 week boot camp and anxiously awaited updated videos, emails and pictures.Ruby did great and we learned so much about how to set her up for success! Ryan (and the other staff) truly treated her like their own dog which warmed my heart. Since Ruby's time at boot camp, we have boarded her and our golden retriever there and it's been great! Sadly, we moved from Chicago and it kills me that we can't take our dogs to Found anymore! We can't thank Ryan and the entire staff for taking such great care of both of our dogs. I would HIGHLY recommend Found for Dog Obedience Training. I have 2 rescues and I was in waaaay over my head with trying to train both of them.  I signed up both my pooches for the bootcamp and it came with private as well as Group Classes.  I also recieved a 10% discount because I signed up 2 dogs. First off, it's probably the most affordable place I Found (pun intended ^-^) in terms of dog training rates and it has the most "bang for your buck" incentives; the private and group classes is included as I already mentioned.  This is a very well run organization and the staff there really do care about your canine family members.  Luke was our trainer for the private classes during boot camp and Ryan was our trainer for the group classes.  Both of them were extremely professional, knowledgeable, patient, and attentive to our family as well as our dogs' needs.  In addition, Ophelia who works the front desk was really great about responding to all our emails promptly and made us feel valued as clients.  Our dogs aren't perfect, but the progress that they've made since going to Found has exceeded our expectations. They're learning as well as us, but they have changed drastically for the better and are much more manageable now.  I have not used Found for daycare or grooming yet simply because I live so far, but I wouldn't hesitate to board my dogs here. This review is for the puppy imprinting program and we cannot recommend it enough.  We knew our puppy had the potential to be a great companion, but we felt as though without proper training early on, we weren't doing him any favors.  Luke worked with our 10 week old Samoyed puppy, Sebastian, for three weeks and it's like we got back a totally different dog.  He went from hating his crate, not wanting to go on walks, and barking incessantly (both day and night, regardless of whether he was in his crate) to an incredibly well-behaved puppy that happily walks on a loose leash, interacts well with other dogs and people, sleeps through the night in his crate, and is consistently responsive to a number of commands--we didn't know this was even possible, let alone for a 3 month old puppy. We've had Sebastian back for several weeks, and while we know there is still a lot of work to be done on our part, we feel like Found has given us the tools to do that.  Luke was really responsive throughout the program, gave us regular status updates on Sebastian as he progressed, and was so, so helpful to us during our private training sessions with Sebastian.  After Sebastian finished the program, Luke followed up to see how he was doing. We look forward to sending Sebastian to Found for daycare and boarding (despite living south of the city, we now don't really want to take him anywhere else).  We could go on and on about the program and Luke specifically, but all in all, if you are considering the puppy imprinting, you will absolutely not regret it!  It was worth every penny and then some. FOUND is such a valuable resource for my girl, Audrey. She's a 60-lb pitbull mix with sensitive skin/tummy and loads of anxiety. She was having a tough time enjoying other daycare locations, where there were 30-40 dogs in a large play area. Just too much for her. Found has this awesome procedure for placing dogs in small "playgroups" with more than adequate human supervision. Audrey has responded sooo positively to this. It is obvious when we watch the videos Found sends and when we pick-up/drop-off that some of the caretakers have taken a special liking to Audrey and she is thrilled to see them each time we visit.I highly recommend Found, especially for owners who are working social anxiety or obedience with their pups. My boyfriend and I came to Found for their 3 week FREE K9 Kindergarten class. Could not have been happier with the class! I researched a couple different obedience classes to get us started with training our four month old puppy and of course - free - stood out to me . While there are so many reviews of their classes for older dogs I was unable to find K9 Kindergarten reviews so we went in with zero expectations and an open mind. The class was held on Sunday mid morning with 5 "students" and their humans. Each week we worked on something different from leash walking to discipline and reward and confidence building. Our instructor, Precia, was so incredibly knowledgeable. Throughout the class she emphasized repetition and rewarding the good behavior. At the end of the class each week she gave us tips on how to correct any home behavior we did not like and if that didn't work she had other recommendations the following week in class. During the last few minutes of the final class we let the dogs have playtime which was so nice - they all worked so hard and earned it! Of course that too was a small lesson on what is polite for playtime and what behavior we should correct. It is an amazing introductory class and I would recommend it to anyone with a young puppy looking to get started with training. More...

Found is wonderful and frankly the reason why we were able to keep our dog.We adopted our pitbull mix rescue dog about 6 months ago. We signed up for the basic obedience class which was great. The class was very focused on building the dogs attention span, bonding with the dog and general getting it to focus on your commands. We have boarded there, done daycare and we even had a training evaluation. We were very impressed that the instructor didn't try to push their puppy boot camp on us to make money when we had a training evaluation done.  We are very happy with all of the services. About 2 months in (around the time we were taking her to the obiedience classes) she was having aggession issues at other doggie daycares. Most of the issues centered around her being reactive and not knowing what to do if a dog snapped at her or didn't want to play. We contacted our vet for resources to help. Our vet recommend 2 resources: an animal behavior certified doctor, and only one dog training company: Found. (Luckily we were already customers!)I always like to describe other doggie day cares as "going to your fun aunt's house". They want to keep the dogs busy, and let them have fun. Sending your dog to Found for boarding or daycare is like sending them to Grandma's house. Where to start. I rescued a dog a while back and he was difficult to deal with. After a long talk with my gf we decided training was the best option before giving him up. I did research on the different training and boarding programs around my area and this was the cheapest and most in depth on training. I had no clue what to look for other than the promise many make to give you the best dog you can have. We went in for a evaluation and Ryan did an excellent job of telling us the problems our dog showed as well as the problems we had as owners. (The dog responds to the owner so if you don't change they won't change.)During the evaluation we already knew boot camp was what we wanted and Ryan was very helpful in letting us know what our dog Rocket would get during his stay. After signing up and bringing him in for two weeks they updated us with report cards (short videos of him socializing or doing what he has learned) as well as private videos of them showing us what he has learned and how to get the response we want from him outside of the training. Everything from staying, constructed leash walking, commands, and more were shown to us during his stay. We did 2 private lessons (out of 3) during his stay where Jawaan explained how to use the techniques he used to train our dog. All of their trainers are dog owners and lovers that they know what they are talking about.  He shared so much with me in 1 hour that after finishing the private session I told him that if I had to talk my dog home that day it would have been worth it right then and there. After the two weeks once again he recalled all the information I had previously learned (training is for you too) to make sure I could continue keeping my dog at his top performance. In the end when I took my dog home he was everything they promised and more. He was the perfect dog we could dream of and we are thankful for Jawaan and Ryan for the training and knowledge they gave us. They don't just train and hope it works. They make a very specific plan for your dog and follow through on it. We still have 1 more private session and a 6 week class where even more training will be learned. Tldr....this place knows their stuff.  They are extremely affordable and are very caring people to your pup and owner. I see the negative reviews and I can tell you that you don't take your dog to training and expect him to be good and never worry about again. Dogs need recall and if you slack they slack. 2 weeks later we are extremely happy with our dog and grateful for the trainers that helped us keep our dog and give him the best possible life he can have. Found has done wonders for me and my pit bull rescue.  Before Found, I was debating whether I could continue on with the adoption, as my dog has serious dog aggression.  Found provided me with the guidance, training and resources I needed to be a good dog owner.  The staff at Found also worked with my dog to give him the tools he needs to socialize and get by in our busy, downtown neighborhood. It has now been 3 years since our first boot camp.  We went through another boot camp this year just to fine tune our skills, and I am so happy we did.  I plan to do boot camp annually, as it makes a tremendous difference.I recommend Found to anyone looking for assistance with dog aggression, general training and socialization.  I also recommend Found for boarding.  I have boarded my dog for multiple 2 week periods while traveling and he comes home well mannered, well socialized and completely exhausted.  It is wonderful for him.Thank you to Fabian, Britney, Ryan and Michelle.  You have been life savers! We dropped our 1.5 year old pit bull off at the 2 week bootcamp on Saturday 1/27 (4 days ago). Here's my experience so far. ..We scheduled an initial evaluation Mid January with Ryan. We've never had any issues with him being aggressive towards people or dogs, but he does jump up to greet people and barks to get their attention. These were the main issues I mentioned to Ryan when we we started the evaluation. I am so glad we did the evaluation - Ryan was able to quickly uncover several other issues (example: freaking out on his leash) that we hadn't realized were problems. It was honestly a little hard to see our little guy struggle at first because seemed so scared and anxious. Amazingly within about 2 minutes of leashing him up, he was sitting nicely next to Ryan leaning his head against his leg. This was a precursor  to how great Ryan has been with Lemmy and how well he can communicate with dogs.Fast forward 4 days. We miss him, but we feel great about this decision. Ryan has been awesome at sending us videos of Lemmy doing agility courses and playing with other dogs! It is clear our pup is having an absolute blast. I can already see a huge difference in him (less jumping, much more relaxed on his leash, sitting and staying). He even got Lemmy on the treadmill on his first day with no real issues, which amazed me as he tried to do it during our initial evaluation and it caused him to have a freak out. Can't say enough good things about Found, Ryan and his team! Really excited about all of the progress he has made so far! More...

I recently took my 10 month old English Mastiff to Found for their Boot Camp training course, I wasn't sure what would all be needed for him, but with his size (150 lbs and growing) I was taking no chances. I was initially scheduled an orientation to assess what he would most need help with. The assessment was very thorough, and once we were done we scheduled the boot camp drop off. Which I will have to compliment everyone there because they were incredibly patient with me as I rescheduled that drop off 5 times :\.During the time he was there, I received daily emails and videos on his boarding, and several videos that covered his training and how he was progressing. Michelle and Ryan did an amazing job explaining everything that he had learned, and also taught me several things that I had no idea about. Both of them were incredibly helpful throughout this process. They both we're honest and firm on how to go forward with his training, which is a huge help when training animals. So far, the change in my dog's behavior is night and day. I would recommend Found to anyone looking for training. I know with the foundation they laid and the training they gave me on how to keep him in line, we should be in a very good place going forward. More...

We took our bulldog puppy Lincoln to Found for his first beginners course in October. I have to say we could not have been happier with this program and the Found trainers. We saw so much progress from our little pup since attending. Our trainer Ryan was very knowledgeable and gave us so many great breed specific tips that we still use at home today. Bulldogs can of course be very stubborn but he knew exactly how to make Lincoln successful. We are looking forward to signing up for our next session this spring. Highly recommended! More...

When we adopted Olive, our boxer/pit puppy, she was 7 months old and very sweet but we knew we would need help in training her. We had other dogs but never properly trained them so we really wanted to do the right thing for our new pup. Our vet recommended Found Chicago and told us that he took his own dog (a pit mix) there for training. We are so thankful that our vet put Found Chicago on our radar. We signed up Olive for an evaluation and then, after a frank discussion (training philosophies, time and money) with trainer Ryan Topf, decided to sign her up for the Intro group class. We ended up missing the first class because Olive was on meds for a parasite and needed one more week before she could be with other dogs - Ryan was kind enough to give Olive a one on one make up lesson so that she would be up to speed when we got to join the next class. Ryan didn't charge us anything extra and went above and beyond to help us out. From that first lesson to the end of our 6 week class I was continually amazed at how well Olive responded to each new task. Ryan was so great at explaining how reinforcements work and how to connect with our dogs. He understood how and what both the dogs and their owners were thinking and feeling. Ryan was informative, fun, honest and assertive but never condescending and always made us feel like we (owners and dogs) could be successful. It is very clear that Ryan loves dogs and is dedicated to helping them and their owners live happy lives together. Olive is still learning and we plan on signing her up for the Intermediate class soon. I love Found Chicago and would highly recommend working with Ryan! More...

We have had the greatest experience with Found.  Our 5 year old dog (no, it's never too late) is a NEW DOG since attending Boot Camp.  When we brought Chief in he could be very aggressive towards other dogs and humans.  He was anxious and very anti-social; protective of us.  We can now walk Chief without concern for how he might react to a situation.  We had a very positive experience with the staff at Found, particularly Fabian and Ryan. What a great training class, for not only dog, but also human! Skeptical at first, but definitely recommend. Ryan is GREAT! We adopted our ~10 month old pit bull Astro, as a Hurricane Harvey refugee in late September and immediately started looking for training classes. I searched for many places and wanted to get him in somewhere ASAP and also needed a place that had late night classes so both my husband and I could attend. We decided on Found's beginning obedience class on Thursday nights form 7:15-8:15pm. At first, I was quite skeptical of using training "choke" collars, because I have always been an advocate for positive reinforcement only training. However, after trying out the collar in the first class, I realized it really is a great tool for training and correcting your pet. We worked mostly with Ryan and also Michelle and BOTH were great. During the 6 week class, Astro was doing amazingly well until week 5 when he started to have some behavioral issues. I honestly was quite shocked and panicked when he acted out during class, but was reassured by Michelle (Ryan was not in that week). The next week, Ryan knew how upset I had been the previous week and pulled me aside before the class started to get an update and see how things were going. Not only did he do that, he kept my husband, Astro and me after class and spoke with us one on one about our concerns. Ryan is a "tell it like it is" trainer, and some things were hard to hear, but definitely necessary. I truly appreciated him not coddling us, but instead being straight forward and devising a plan for how to deal with these unwanted behaviors. I am no longer scared of what could happen, but instead now know how to deal with things that may arise in the future! Could not recommend Found and Ryan enough! More...

Found's Boot Camp program completely saved our dog Linus! Our 75lb lab mix has always been a handful. Very energetic, very anxious. When he became aggressive and began biting us, we knew we needed to deal with it professionally (and fast-- we had a baby on the way). We had a private trainer from another company come to our home and try to teach us strategies to improve his behavior (all positive reinforcement) and he only got worse. We were considering the fact that we may have to rehome Linus when we decided to invest in Found's boot camp program as a last ditch effort. Since he did the boot camp almost 9 months ago, he hasn't growled or snapped once at us, he walks much better, and he seems overall happier and less anxious. The carryover of his training was totally manageable for us and we both have full time jobs and a new baby. So if we can keep it up, anyone can.  Yes, it's expensive. We're young and broke and don't throw around this kind of cash lightly, so we really researched our options. This was the most cost effective for us because we got the two week camp, training videos almost every day, 3 private sessions, and the 7 weeks of classes. For all of that, it was SO worth the cost. We were also a little nervous about their techniques since we've always been told that positive reinforcement is the only way to train a dog. Linus's main trainer, Ryan Topf, did an amazing job explaining why and how they use corrections and pinch collars and it makes so much sense to us. Plus, our dog is still so IN LOVE with Ryan, so it can't have been too traumatic for him. In fact, extra shout out to Ryan because he just totally killed it all around. He worked so well with us and with Linus. Finally, we have had the best interactions with staff, all the way from secretaries to trainers to management. when our summer got crazy busy and we couldn't make some of our classes, Martha worked so patiently with us to make sure we got reenrolled in another session and even offered alternative options to make sure Linus benefitted as much as possible. We use Found for EVERY dog need we have. We board Linus here (he loves it), we do daycare (he loves it), we do training classes (he loves it) and we do grooming (he doesn't really love it but smells great and sheds less). I recommend this place to all of my friends with dogs. ESPECIALLY if you're dealing with a nut job like Linus! More...

I even did dog agility with Britteny which was great. What I appreciate most is that the whole Found team is so caring and loving towards all the dogs. These folks really care! I have used Found Chicago for boarding, training, transportation, grooming, and a myriad of other services.  They are wonderful.  The staff know my dog and treat her like their own.  The owners expect and deliver a high standard of care and they put their values into actions by routinely rescuing dogs and then training them so they are easier to re-home.  They also do exceptional volunteer work thru their therapy program, Canines and Company, giving back to the community.  If you are looking for talented trainers, engaged compassionate staff, and a community conscious business for your dog - this is your place. I will start off by saying if I could give an additional 1/2 star I would, but I feel there was slight improvement that needed to be made, thus the 4/5. Upon adopting my dog she was labeled aggressive. I had her evaluated by multiple facilities; some insisting she needed to be medicated (as my profession being a nurse I feel although medication has a time and place, this should be a last case resort and was the 'quick fix' for them), others were outlandish enough to suggest I consider putting her to sleep. I decided on a third facility that made many wonderful promises, but really did nothing for her in the long run....she went back to old habits as soon as she was home. A year later-----I give you this verbose description of her history to illustrate how profoundly pleased I am with Found Chicago. They not only didn't bat an eyelash at my history with her, but were extremely confident that they could help. I did pay for the 2 week boot camp -- in that time I received multiple videos and pictures of her training sessions. In those sessions I was able to watch what they did, along with a detailed explanation of why they chose to use those tactics and techniques with her. We followed up with the 6 week group sessions. My dog came back a new girl, with much better listening and social skills to put it lightly. Now for the critiques -- what concerned me was I felt due to my dog excelling well in her classes and being ahead, she consequently received very little training during the group sessions. Many of the dogs were not at her level in some areas, which is definitely ok, but not at the cost of her not being pushed to learn new or hone in on learned skills that still need work. There were also some communication mishaps that needed to be addressed, such as if I am a paying customer I should not have to send multiple messages to make a training appointment. I was also promised I would be contacted for a certification that has yet to be done. Overall, I do insist that this is a great facility. They recognize her and greet her when she comes in for her daycare, they address her personal needs in her training, and most importantly they've given me back a dog that I can now take out to parks and make play dates with other dogs. Dogs are like children, they need feedback and training everyday which we continue to do. We have our bumps now and then, but I am confident that Found has given us the tools make her life so much more enjoyable. They have my gratitude tenfold over. More...
