Popped in here for lunch during a work break with some coworkers and I fell in love! The atmosphere is casual and the food was delicious. Flat Waves catered a recent party and did a great job.  Their catering contact is extremely helpful and responsive, the food was delivered right on time, set up was seamless, great presentation and quality of food.  Nice variety!  The payment portal also super easy to use.  I upgraded to the bamboo place settings which was kind of a nice touch but probably not worth the extra expense.  I highly recommend using Flat Waves for your next event!  I will definitely use them again. My poke bowl was super yummy and a good light lunch to eat at or after the beach. If you're stopping by on the earlier side of lunch (1115ish? ) you might have to wait a bit for the fresh seafood to arrive. I didn't mind and it was worth the extra 15 minutes. Cool place to get a drink and decent HH deals considering it's the city and the financial district. The decor really hits the fun house theme, and the bartenders were really nice. If you're coming for sports, there's 4 TV's, but you might be hard pressed to get a good view since it gets pretty packed quickly. A fantastic local spot, especially on the way to the beach or getting that craving going home from the beach. A unique and flavorful twist on a traditional taco. We have been looking for a place that serves rice bowls since we moved here 3 years ago (we assumed you were a sandwich place). Super great little spot that has a huge flair of aloha. Totally a hidden gem. I love the outdoor seating with hanging lights, the diverse menu, and the great food. My husband and I usually each get a protein rice bowl. I usually spring for the pulled pork and he gets the steak. Both are great. It's more than enough food for most, I think. I've read reviews where people are satiated on the snack bowls, and I can see how that might be the case for some. You get a lot of food with the bowls!They also have açaí bowls, shaved ice, tacos, and lots of other options. I love their drink selection - it's all bottled, from what I can tell. I've never tried to order a fountain beverage. I usually get a coconut water. It gets busy, so don't go if you're in a huge rush. With that said, service is usually very prompt and I've never had to wait more than 10min for my food. You will order at the indoor counter and then seat yourself. Super casual atmosphere. 10/10. The proteins are on point. I had the Kalia Pork and Shouu Chicken rice bowl. DD has the grilled shrimp with teriyaki sauce. She had extra rice and I had the Mac salad. DD remarked that good thing she had the extra rice because there was a lot of teriyaki sauce. As for me the Mac salad was not traditional local style Mac salad. Absolutely love this little Food Shack!They offer a variety of tacos, with an overall just fresh taste. I ordered the Kalbi Tacos and it comes with rice and macaroni salad. I ordered a side of Spam Musubi. Their teriyaki sauce is given by asking for it and it's also very delish.The customer service is great and they definitely gave me recommendations on the first night & I would stop in for lunch throughout the week.Having their hours posted on Yelp was very clutch! Flat Waves helped me pull off the best surprise 30th birthday for my wife! I catered an event for 39 of her closest friends and had a whole taco bar spread prepared and set out buffet style for all to enjoy. People were asking me throughout the event where I got the food from because it was so fresh and different from all the chain tex-mex'ish restaurants. Plus, the pricing was competitive. I have worked on Aquidneck Ave for a few years and  have driven by so many times. I've heard coworkers talk about their food but hadn't tried them. My husband ended up having Flat Waves one day on a whim for a lunch and loved it. Since then we have ordered online and picked up for our new found tradition of "Takeout Thursday". The portions are pretty big, I always do the small bowl and end up saving some for the next day. My favorite sauce is the sweet chili. Highly recommend springing for the egg on top, it makes it so delicious! Without the sauces the bowls are bland so definitely get sauce, and order on the side if you want to control the portions. Staff is friendly enough and service is quick if we ordered food ahead of time. This place gets super busy and popular in the summer.
