Just Our opinion, the poutine was good and definitely very well seasoned. Almost overpowering though. The fried green tomatoes were ok. We both had the dry aged steak and it was very tender and juicy but not a whole lot of flavor. The brussel sprouts were really good. Some stuff on the menu is pricey. Great food and awesome service. They have Electrify America EV Charging Stations, but if you drive a Tesla there is a Supercharger down the road to use instead. Electrify America are basically gouging electric rates and you should avoid using their chargers. See the prices attached. It would have cost me $60 to charge my Model X while it was free instead at Tesla a mile away. Small Businesses should really just install convenient NEMA 14-50 Plug-ins like you would find in a campground and avoid Electrify America. More...

My husband and I were traveling and hungry for a quality meal rather than a grab and go or fast food option. First, the service here is wonderful and we were pleasantly surprised at how everyone was attentive and quick. The restaurant itself is beautiful and perfect for any occasion or night out. Clean bathrooms. Comfortable seating. We ordered the chicken and rice plate for our toddler and shared the veggie portobello burger and fries. I will dream about those fries until we have an opportunity to visit again. Everything was flavorful, prepared beautifully and delicious. Our sons kids plate of farm chicken, rice and green beans were cooked perfectly and the homemade applesauce is some of the best I've ever had. I would absolutely order his meal again just for the juicy and perfectly cooked and seasoned chicken and bbq sauce. The portobello burger was delicious and came on a pillowy homemade pretzel bun with roasted red peppers and pesto. Our waitress mentioned their farm is where they source most non-meat or they use local farms. She also let us know in the warmer months that there's a koi pond with fish for the kids to feed. This was our fourth time visiting Firefly Grill. This time I ordered the 10 oz Filet, whipped potatoes, baked mac-n-cheese, French onion soup, crab purses, apple cobbler, peach soda, and a glass of Elmer T Lee Bourbon 100th Birthday. I would recommend this to anyone. There are many dishes of all price ranges. The ingredients are the freshest and finest around. The service was fantastic. Do stop in Effingham, Illinois. Do pass by the Hampton Inn and follow the road until you get to the Firefly Grill. Do not stop until you try the hamburger! Hands down one of the BEST hamburgers I've ever eaten. The food and service were both so good, I ate there on my way back home. Two days in a row, same spot-- different meal, both meals were EXCELLENT! The second trip was for the chicken and waffles-- a definite must try, but bring your appetite- the portions are man sized! We went for the fall harvest tasting so the menu was set for four courses with options only for the entree course. We've been to many of Firefly's tastings and this one was as good as the rest. The first course included some of the best roasted red and gold beets; a real treat. The second course was roasted cauliflower and it was a show stopper! I've never had anything like it before or tasted anything quite like it. For our entrees, I had duck and my husband had pork shank and we were both very pleased with them. I had a nice meal here with my family a few weeks ago. The restaurant is located on beautiful grounds not far from the interstate. As for the food, the mushroom ravioli dish (vegetarian), although not cheap, is very delicious. I would have eaten a couple more pasta pieces on that plate, green “decor” herbs and all. It was that good! I also heard positive comments on the food/ambiance from others in my party.The staff at Firefly was very accommodating and kind towards our large dinner group as several people showed up who hadn’t committed to an RSVP beforehand. The parking lot is fairly expansive, and I noticed they had several charging areas for electric cars. I don’t recall seeing that at other restaurants before, especially in that area of Illinois.
