LOVED IT!We have many times been to the store in Groton, this was our first time venturing out here. We sat at the bar and was greeted right away.  I tried the drink special.. it was okay, my second drink was a sangria and that was awesome!I ordered a pasta dish (something Nona) it was so good that if no one had been there I might have licked the plate.  My husband had chicken parm with home made pasta and both parts were also delicious. The dessert was really good but it could have been a bit better.  We ordered the caramelized bananas, it was a special and anything banana is automatically being ordered by me.  The dish was really good.  I wish the bananas had been cooked a bit more.  It must have just been torched quickly but it needed something else.. maybe some sugar on it but had it been broiled where the banana wasn't cold under the torched part or had it been sautéed a bit of banana fosters like... it would have been even better.  Overall it was great.  We loved it. What a great meal! My wife and I came for dinner before going to Kimball Farm. We sat outside on their nice little patio. The food was excellent - we had the raspberry soup, a salad and shared a dish with their home-made Gemelli pasta . The fresh bread was delicious as well. The server was very attentive, perhaps too attentive, because he literally asked us over 10 times if we needed anything else. But overall, we were very pleased with our dinner there and will definitely be back if we're in the area. More...

We hosted our daughter and son-in-law's baby shower at Filho's Great Road yesterday. I cannot say enough about the amazing food and fantastic service we received here. Rick and Chef Mark outdid themselves and made everyone feel so welcome. Setting up the shower was very easy and we were thrilled to share our favorite place with friends and family. Miles ahead of the old Bella Famiglia. Straight to the point. Had an attentive server with a sense of humor, all food came out in a timely fashion ( could have used with a couple more minutes with our appetizers before taking up the space on our table with entress coming out soon after) but it wasn't a big deal. I enjoyed my veal and homemade pasta as well as the burrata. Definitely not frozen food anywhere on these plates. My mom got the bolognese which wasn't the highlight of the meal, but it was enjoyed nonetheless (Didnt have that bold texture from a bolo sauce. More like a marinara sauce with meats mixed in).Only complaint. I got a glass of wine which was lovely until the last sip where there was a little bit of cork. (Didnt take a photo). It happens. Didnt mention it. But I have seen some complaints about bartenders being a little lax. Overall a nice night out with Mom. Had a nice meal with a good server and were sat immediately. For Acton and the price, that's a good deal. (77$ for 2 entrees, appetizer and wine). Once you hit Arlington or Somerville then that would easily hit $100.I see reviews here complaining about the smallest of things that don't warrant taking off stars. Want a quiet atmosphere? Go somewhere else. Want live music? Go somewhere else. Want a chance of not waiting for a table? Eat at home. Judge your experiences off of the service, what you get for what you pay, what you get for the location/town and the food. It goes for every restaurant that their job is to provide those key factors. Not cater to every single individuals need for petty privileges like wanting the restaurant to be quieter. It's a restaurant packed full of people on a Friday night. Get over it. More...

Had their gemelli with chicken/brocollini/mushrooms in garlic wine sauce...very good.Also had lemon and cheese. Overall a very good dish! Good size portion, had 1/2 there and brought 1/2 for dinner..had garlic bread..it needed more garlic! Waitress was great... food was good and price was decent too. Really excellent meal there last weekend.  We started with fried ravioli and garlic bread.  We were a bit disappointed that the waitress asked if we wanted cheese on the garlic bread and we said no, but it had cheese anyway. When we pointed it out, she answered that the regular garlic bread has cheese on it but asking for cheese gets your more cheese.  That's pretty silly, and when you are ordering it for someone who does not want cheese, you should at least let the customer know that it has cheese regardless!The rest of the meal was really good.  We enjoyed Eggplant Parmesan, Gnocchi Florentine and Caesar salad with Salmon.  There was a bit of a kitchen snafu with our atypical pizza order, but to their credit the waitress spotted it before bringing it out and asked the kitchen to remake it.  The rest of us had our food for a while before the pizza came but I'd rather get it right.  The manager came over to check on us and explain.  The check was a bit higher than we expected but I'd rather pay more for better food.  We will definitely be back. Wow so great!!!!Very relaxing casual place with amazing food and beer. Husband had house salad and a pasta special with scallops, bacon, and candied walnuts in a cream sauce.   I ordered linguini with plain marinara sauce because I'm vegan and everything else I wanted had butter on it. I have to say it was DELICIOUS. Hubby adored his food also. Service was also great, ambiance was wonderful. We will most definitely be back. We were in the way back from Emerson hospital and stopped here for dinner.  All three of us really liked it.  I had the Gemini chicken.  I love broccoli so with that chicken gemelli and chicken it was lemony delicious.  My husband had veal parm.  He is very particular with his parm and really liked it.  Wants to come back again.  My daughter had the Alfredo she liked it ok.  They had tiramisu and said it was delicious.  Would recommend this restaurant. A great addition to a small town like Acton. Filho's has private rooms which are good for groups.We ordered the bruschetta and meatballs to start. The bruschetta was underwhelming- a slice of bread with a sliced tomato and cheese melted on top, with some herb oil. The meatballs with ricotta were pretty standard.Everyone ordered a dish with gemelli pasta, their pasta made in house. The gemelli is thoroughly cooked (no al dente) but still delicious. The gemelli con salsicca is a heavier dish with an acidic tomato sauce whereas the gemelli con pollo has a lighter lemon white wine sauce. I went to Filhos with my family last summer, after another area restaurant didn't work out, and was pleasantly surprised! The restaurant doesn't look especially promising from the street, i .e. the building is unassuming. I knew it served pizza, and so rather expected a pizza joint, but... Filhos, as it turns out, is much better than that! It turns out to be a rather fine (every bit as fine as I want) Italian restaurant! It has been a while, and though I do recall the food I had (but not that of my wife or daughters), I do not remember what it was called, so I won't comment in detail, but I CAN say that it was EXCELLENT. And the service was excellent as well.The atmosphere and decor is what I would expect in a better Italian restaurant, subdued but attractive and comfortable. The room looked like something you might encounter in Rome or Naples. It was traditional in style, with a small print wallpaper, and the tables had tablecloths. It was nearly full when we got there, but there was no wait for a table. Almost best of all, the table service was everything anyone would ever want, i.e. friendly, helpful and attentive but unobtrusive.I have not been back (we are very busy), but am nevertheless looking forward to our next visit.I would recommend Filhos to ANYBODY. We drove to the location in Groton and it was completely packed so we decided to drive to the Acton location to get out Filho's fix. We waited a short time for our table and found the ambiance to be cozy and the service was great. Our go-to meal is the chicken marsala. While the food did not disappoint, when the plates arrived we were surprised at the smaller portions when compared to the Groton location especially when the prices are comparable. My wife and I had dinner there recently, where we sat at the bar and got excellent service. The food here and in Groton, really, is no less than outstanding. But, on our recent visit, we ordered a veal parm entre, which again, was just fantastic. But, the portion of pasta served with it was so small, I would say it was at best, a child's portion. The bartender, noting our displeasure with the size of the pasta, notified a manager? which came to us and informed us that they now have "portion control".  Good God, every other Italian restaurant I've ever dined in gives you far more pasta than anyone needs. Not that I would expect a HUGE portion here, but this size portion was an insult. Five stars for the food and service, but one less for the portion size of pasta. More...

Really pleasantly surprised to find this little place on a Sunday afternoon. Biggest con is the dining room - it's one of the places where you feel like you can see and hear everyone else, and they can do the same of you. A little too intimate with fellow diners.The food is top notch, and my server was really terrific. I had the beer salad with scallops and that was fantastic. Parmesan fries made me want to dance. Fantastic meal tonight with haddock primavera special and gemelli con pollo. Enough to savor and more to take home. Loved my lemon drop martini as well. So glad we went here! The restaurant has a nice ambiance on a fall Tuesday night - the noise level is perfect- you can hear the others talk but it isn't raucous like so many other restaurants nowadays. As for the food, the pizza looked very good, but we opted for a misto griglia salad that was very tasty with a good dressing and chicken grilled perfectly smoked mozzarella all good. The clam chowder was a bit cold when I ate it but I was fussing w my toddler so it cold have been hot when it came out.  I enjoyed it but it was thicker and creamier than my husband likes. The Marsala parecchi had a good sauce and the wild shrimp were done to perfection - not too chewy from overlooking, and tasty too. I recommend this place. So glad we found this place! Went for the first time the other day and was wowed by the extensive menu, the delicious food (that came out quickly! ), and most of all the terrific service. Everyone from the person who answered the phone (pro tip: call up to 30 minutes ahead to get on top of the wait list, if there's one) to our incredible server Deb K. went out of their way to accommodate us and make sure all of our needs were met. Deb was so sweet and attentive, and even repacked all of our leftovers when we tipped over the doggie bag and spilled it.
