Fermented Pixels is amazing. They are professional that have a knack for both the visual and user experience of the website. They not only helped us design the web-site but also helped guide our branding and message within the site to ensure that anyone who searches or stumbles upon our site - that they know what we are all about.

Qualities that FP demonstrated and executed were: (1) always available communication wise (2) always willing to work within our budget (3) concrete timelines that always were met (4) understanding of our web sites needs and image (5) always went above and beyond during the process in helping craft the imagery, fonts and more (6) attention to detail is second to none.

I highly recommend working with Fermented Pixels - you will get a cutting edge web-site that will not only portray your branding image - but also have the functionality needed. I priced out about 10 companies in this process - everybody had cookie cutter web-sites, boxy, boring because they were all about just pushing out as many as possible with maximum profit. FP is about making sure we were on the cutting edge of whats out there with customized functionality and feel for both mobile and we

Working with Fermented Pixels was such a cool experience! While I consider myself tech-savvy, there was still a ton I didn’t know about web-development. Thankfully Matt and his team walked with me step by step to answer my questions, provide me with options, teach me “why” we are doing certain things, and truly create an awesome experience centered around myself and my happiness. The overall product absolutely exceeded my expectations. I had an idea of what I wanted but these guys took my idea and turned it into a dream project. Not only will I continue to work with Matt and the entire team at Fermented Pixels I will absolutely recommend them to any one and every person looking for their services. Thank you guys ! More...

I am extremely happy with the creative beautiful work done by Matt and his team. We were looking for an elegant modern design that goes well with the salons and brand. The feedback we have gotten is exactly as suspected incredible. I was appreciative to have their marketing skills in order to attract clients and keep them interested in what we have to offer. If you are looking to take your site to another level look no further. They exceeded my expectations. WORTH EVER PENNY! More...

Q&As

A great website is not just a website it is an online presence that represents our clients brand and their reputation as a leader in their industry. It must speak directly to the client's customers in their terminology with concise, powerful and bold brand messaging as well as stunning design.

A great website must convey, what we call "the 7 second rule", which means, within 7 seconds of landing on a client's website the user must understand what the company does, what makes the company unique from the competition and how they should proceed within the website to meet our client's business goals.

A great website not only looks stunning on all platforms/devices and must be designed specifically for each. It represents who our client is, what are their standards, and why should a customer choose to do business with them in the most intuitive manner possible.

A great website is always goal and results orientated to meet and exceed our client's expectations in every way.

At Fermented Pixels the first thing we do when beginning a project with a client is what we call "The Creative Brand Workshop". This is an essential meeting with the client to discuss everything they're looking for, who their demographic is and what are their business goals.

A few questions we ask during The Creative Brand Workshop:

1. Tell us about the history of your company/organization? (Please give an introduction to the organization’s origins. How and why it was formed. Emphasize the growth factors and the adaptations for that growth that were made during these years if applicable)

2. What is the most important goal you hope to accomplish with this new site design? (Please answer with your top goals in order of importance).

3. Describe the personality & tone you’d like the website to convey (Please tell us the feelings/emotions you’d like your audience to have when they are on your new site.)

4. What other websites have you seen that you liked (Please tell as many sites that you may have seen, as well as the specific aspects of the website you liked. We will provide the most web gallery sites for you to look through as well to truly determine what you like )

5. Describe your target demographic & audience (Please discuss factors such as gender, age range, income level, educational background & technical savvy).

6. Describe the services or products you provide for your customers (Please discuss in detail the services and/or products you provide now and future if applicable).

7. Where would you like to see the organization in the next 5-10yrs? (Please discuss the growth and/or changes you’d like to see in the future).

8. Who are your main competitors and what do you think is your main differentiator? (Please discuss why a customer should choose you over the competition).

9. What do you feel is your biggest weakness whether real or perceived by your customers (Please discuss areas you think you could improve in your organization if applicable).

Please note: This is a very organic meeting since all clients are unique so we adapt specifically to the needs of the client. This meeting is meant to ensure we meet and exceed all of client's expectations and business goals.

We take everything we've learned from The Creative Brand Work discussed above in "what questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?" and we begin these 4 phases. Please note: We call them phases but in reality we work in parallel with the entire team as much as possible to ensure the project moves along in a very timely manner.

Phase 1: Brainstorm & Research (We do a deep dive into the client's industry, competitors and customers. We create personas internally of your customer types and we may, only if needed and approved by the client, devise questions for our client's customers to truly understand their needs).

Phase 2: Information Architecture (We create flow charts, site maps and wireframes. We basically craft detailed black and white blueprints of your website or web app. This is an essential phase in which we determine the website's content, placement, hierarchy, structure and best user experience possible).

Phase 3: Design Phase (Once the the wireframes are approved we begin to design mock ups of exactly how the site will look on all platforms/devices. We give our client options of design styles to choose from of course and we revise until the client is more than pleased with the design of the website or web app).

Phase 4: Development Phase ( We then begin to take the approved designs and bring them to life on our development server. Our team works in an extremely collaborative manner in which designers and developers work hand and hand to create an incredible final product). The client also receives an extremely user friendly admin portal where they can update content very easily at anytime after launch. We also provide admin training.

Please note: These last 3 phases of information architecture, design and development are where we work in parallel as a team. For example, once the homepage wireframe and design is approved by the client we pass these deliverables along to our development team while our designers are still crafting the remaining pages and platform designs. Again, this keeps the project moving along in a very timely manner.

Once the website is approved by the client we then push the site live to their url and we provide 30 days of post launch support.

We need all the information from "The Creative Brand Workshop" described above in great detail in the Q&A question: What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

Personally I am the Chief Creative Officer & Founder of the company and what I love the most is the branding, brand messaging, informational architecture and of course the design of the final product.

I love figuring out ways to improve a client's business and online presence in ways they never dreamed of. Finding the best solution to take our client's websites or web applications to the next level.

Devising ways to make them stand far above the competition, making the usability of their website or web app as intuitive as possible. I love the having that feeling of a completed project and knowing my team and I have crafted the an amazing product for our client.

I started Fermented Pixels for the money and fame of course. Joking aside, I have 20 years of experience in this field and for 10 years plus I’ve spent my career in the role of creative director for various NYC agencies. I’ve worked for some fantastic companies and the work I was given was amazing. I met many wonderfully talented people through the years. I’ve had fantastic colleagues that helped me advance along the way and I’m very grateful for the opportunities given but I knew deep down I wanted to do something different.

I wanted to create a unique agency. One that was radically open minded, transparent and empathetic to clients and their customers. A results driven company with surgical focus on our client’s growth. To create a place of collaboration and humility that delivers an unmatched level of integrity in the work we create.

Our clients are our company at its core. Their success is our success. This is something I’ve promised to never lose sight of and will keep building an agency with a reputation for excellence, trust, and creating kick-ass work that goes above and beyond.

Because at the heart of company is passion and integrity for the work we do. We pride ourselves on our reputation and we will not settle for crafting our client's anything other than something they absolutely love and delivers them the results they are looking for.

Our reviews and integrity mean everything to us. We will only work toward creating a client something that exceeds their goals and expectations. We make sure all of our client's will be more than happy to give us a great review and recommend us to others.

This is why I started Fermented Pixels, because I wanted to create something I could be proud of and stand firmly behind all the work we do.

At Fermented Pixels we believe a client's brand is of utmost importance and should be reflected in everything they create, say and do. A client's brand identity must speak directly to a client's customers and represent all of the client's values, attitude and overall characteristic . A brand is not just a logo, it is the entire emotion a customer gets when they experience it. We work directly with the client to craft a brand that does all of that and more.

Branding messaging is also of utmost importance. It will be in most case the first thing a prospective customer reads about our client's company. It must be impactful, concise and give the reader a clear understanding of what our clients are all about. That brand messaging style must carried throughout the entirety of a client's website site and all collateral. At FP, we spend a lot of time craft brand messaging for every site we create and work directly with the client to make absolutely sure it conveys the message to meet and exceed our client's business goals.

Your brand is more than your logo, name or messaging, it is the entire experience your prospects and customers have with your company, product or service.

Your brand strategy defines what you stand for, a promise you make, and the personality you convey. And while it includes your logo, color palette and messaging, those are only creative elements that convey your brand. Instead, your brand lives in every day-to-day interaction you have with your market...

It includes everything from:

The imagery you use throughout everything created.

The messaging you deliver on your website, proposals, print collateral and campaigns.

The way your employees interact with customers, down to the way you answer the phones or reply to customers.

And much more... At FP we work directly with our clients and possibly our client's customers, if the client would like us to, to craft a brand strategy that makes our clients stand far above their competitors.

Although Fermented Pixels is primarily a digital agency that creates websites and applications we also have a team of designers that are experts in print and pre-press. So as we craft an amazing website or web app we also have the stellar ability create stunning printed pieces... Such as business cards, letterheads marketing brochures, direct mail, postcards, newsletters, pocket presentation folders, thank-you cards, posters and fliers, white papers and more...
