It was my first time here a few months ago and just getting around to writing a review. The doctor was very friendly and I was quite pleased. He explained everything to me and answered all of my questions.  One of the front ladies - I believe Mary (is her name) went above and beyond to help me pick out my sunglasses. I had to return a few days later for an adjustment and she fit it perfectly.  She is extremely friendly and very professional. I would highly recommend this office! More...

Dr. Honda has been my optometrist for about 5 years now I love going to him he takes his time to examine you and genuinely cares. Mary (optometrist assistant) is amazing she is such a sweetheart. Dr. Honda is the best optometrist, hands down. He was our optometrist before we moved in 2003. We found that no one has been able to match his expertise, so we scheduled an appointment to go see him while on a So Cal trip. While in his office, we actually spoke with other patients from out of state, and out of the country who also schedule appointments with him when they are in Southern California for a visit. I recently learned I have been going to Dr. Honda for 20 years! He's been my go to for anything eyes. I get a yearly check up from him and every time I go in there's an amazing selection of glasses. I always end up finding a pair for my new lenses. They also have added free wifi in their waiting room! If the magazines aren't cutting it for you, you can check your phone out with no worries of going over on your data plan but there usually isn't a long wait if you have an appointment. Dr. Honda is very through and friendly when you are in your appointment. His staff is very friendly as well. Mary is always a joy to see at the front desk. She is extremely helpful, knowledgeable, & funny. I enjoy coming each year for my eye exams because of the amazing service and people! More...

Dr Mel Honda's office is amazing.  They remind me when it is time to come back in, they are so very professional and friendly to everyone that walks through the office.  Mary is one of the reasons I keep coming in. I've been going to Dr. Honda for 30 years! Now I've moved to La Quinta 100 miles away and I still see him. He spends a lot of time with me to get my vision 20/15. Mary keeps the office cheerful.

Dr. Honda was great! If you look at my past reviews, you'll see how obsessed I was with my last optometrist, Dr. Hsu at Private Eyes. My heart broke when my insurance changed and I couldn't go to her anymore, but they referred me to Dr. Honda. He had big shoes to fill, but he filled them with ease :) He is super nice and really knows his stuff.His office staff is very friendly and helpful. I was VERY indecisive when it came to picking my new frames (I narrowed it down to 8 ) and the staff was patient and gave me honest feedback on my top picks. When I picked my top choice, they showed me the other colors they came in to make sure I was happy with my choice. Dr. Honda is awesome! I used to go to a Kaiser for my vision care, but after my insurance provider changed I needed to find a new optometrist. Usually I hate change, but I was pleasantly surprised by Dr. Honda's office. The best part about Dr. Honda's office has got to be the speed. Mary and Kayla helped me fill out the intake paperwork, and within minutes of finishing I was seating and getting my eyes checked. Also, Dr. Honda doesn't give you the "hard-sell," or push for unnecessary services or procedures. I was a patient of Doctor Honda's for 9 years and then ended up getting LASIK. 16 years have now passed since my surgery and it was time for an eye exam. Which lead me back to Doctor Honda. I had my eye exam today and I was reminded of why I found my way back to them. Mary and Crystal who run the front office are so wonderful, greet you with a smile and so pleasant. Crystal took the time to help me pick out the right pair of glasses, I didn't feel rushed at all, she really cared that I chose the right pair for myself. Doctor Honda is so thorough. After reading so many great reviews online,  I finally decided it was time to take my husband and I  in for an exam and prescription fill back in February. My husband was first to be seen by Dr. Honda, and was really pleased with how friendly he and the staff were. When it came to my turn, the conversation just flowed naturally and there were no awkward moments, He really takes his time to answer any question and makes you feel comfortable during the process. There was no upselling of any sort of products like most offices do. The insurance process was quick and easy. Weekends are available but fill up pretty quickly and on Thursdays they are open until 7PM. Everyone in this office is extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming! My wife had a fainting spell while exercising, and her head hit the ground. This pushed her glasses into her eye, and we wanted to have her vision checked out. Dr. Honda has a kind and reassuring manner. We knew he'd give her a thorough examination.My wife's eyes turned out to be fine. Came in looking strictly for new frames because I had gotten my eye exam done elsewhere. The staff greeted me as i walked in and asked if I needed any help. Looking for frames can be a difficult process especially for someone picky like me. All the ladies here were very helpful in showing me different types of frames. I've always had half frame glasses and they suggested I try full frame ones and so I did. I couldn't be any happier with my new full framed ray bans! It's a new look for me and friends and family love it. Even getting compliments from customers at my work says a lot. Ill definitely be back for my next eye exam and for my next set of frames here! I love Dr. Honda and you can't love Dr. Honda without adoring Mary!I've been going to Dr. Honda for about 23 years but that's not possible because that would make me much older than the 31 years I think I am! Dr. Honda held my hand, literally, through my Lasik.  He cares, he's thorough and he's interminably patient with my constant second guessing of the "which is better, 1 or 2?" game!!I once had rapid vision decline and he got me in immediately.  This was pre Google otherwise I would have diagnosed myself with some obscure irreversible disease rather than "I'm going blind", general hysteria.He was very thoughtful and calming.   He did a vision test and then had me remove my contacts, did another vision test and then examined my contacts and very solemnly informed me that I had them in reverse and my sudden onset blindness was miraculously cured!!Mary organizes the BEST trunk shows, is fantastic helping you pick the right frames (even if you're super picky - guess how I know that?!), and she's got a great laugh. What can I say about Dr. Mel Honda, except that he is the best!  I have been going to Dr. Honda for probably close to 30 years.  Not only is Dr. Honda a fabulous optometrist, he is a really terrific person.  I trust Dr. Honda implicitly and have made many a referral to him, as I know he will take care of his new patients just as well as the ones who have been with him for many years.  He genuinely cares about his patients and spends the time necessary to give you the best results.  Dr. Honda and his staff epitomize customer service.  Mary has been on Dr. Honda's staff for almost as long as I have been going there and Mary, and the other staff members, give you the same great care as does Dr. Honda.  If you need an optometrist, look no further.  You will not be disappointed. I have been going to Dr Honda for as long as i have been wearing glasses and contacts (about 20 years).  I have never had any problems with him or his staff.  His exams are gentle and he has great hands for what he dose.  They offer a huge variety of frames on site but also are fine with you bringing in your own.  I have never had a bad experience with Dr Honda and will continue to go to him as long as he is around.  Its funny because when i first went to him i was a kid so i know he is great with children.  So if you need a good Optometrist in the aria i highly recommend Mel Honda.
