The name of the place caught our eye so we stopped in for pie. Glad we did. Quaint cafe with excellent pie. The peanut butter pie was thick and creamy. The pecan pie came warmed. Yum.

In the same parking lot as McDonald's and Starbucks is a little local restaurant, You Need Pie.It's excellent.I had a super yummy cheese steak sandwich, mac and cheese, and pecan chocolate chip pie (you can't do this every day). It was amazing. But more than that it's a local slice of Estes Park Colorado. I pretty much am always glad when I skip the big franchise and get something local.You Need Pie was no reception. My husband and I had the YNP Burger and the Blue Plate Special (Hot Turkey, mashed potato and salad) and it was all delicious. The Burger was soooooo juicy and the turkey sandwich with gravy was delicious. For desert we had the apple pie and the caramel apple Pecan pie. They were to die for. The place is small inside but cozy just like you want it to be. Don't be fooled by the name. You also NEED to eat here. We had a Ruben and Tuna melt with mac and cheese and what were very obviously fresh cut fries. The pie is unabashedly fruit pie. None of that gelatin filling with the fruit. We ate breakfast here one morning during our EP visit. Everything was absolutely delicious. We sat on the patio and there were elk eating their own breakfast just outside. We bought a whole apple pie to go, and ended up forgetting it in our hotel fridge. We were halfway home before realizing! service, menu options, pie,.... all were very good. attentive service. it was clear that they were very busy not only servicing customers but helping in other ways too. .. the other day I had chicken walnut cranberry salad that was huge and excellent m today it's the chicken salad sandwich with potato salad - again, both very good. It is a pie place too so of course each visit required a tasting here too---previous, it was smore pie, today it is cherry pie (crumble crust topped).
