ESSEN Catering was created by Mitchell and Jill Janszen; a husband and wife team with years of experience in the food and hospitality industry. Combined, the two have worked for some of Austin's top caterers, hotels, and restaurants.

Q&As

There are a variety of very special dishes we love to prepare, but if we had to pick one to be our signature, it would be our braised short rib tossed with fresh, homemade gnocchi, goat cheese, orange segments and au jus.

Creating the perfect menu for clients starts with a consultation- either over the phone or in-person. We want all of the details! What is your favorite food, what did you and your fiancé eat on your first date that you can remember, what family dish will always remain special to you, etc. Food brings back memories and we want to tap into those fond memories to create the perfect menu.

Aside from seeing events from start to finish, I love having our clients in for tastings. It's so fun to finally meet our clients in person, show them around our facility, and provide them with an intimate tasting experience.

My husband and I met while attending culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu in Austin, TX. We've worked several jobs together and always knew we made a good team. During COVID-19 and quarantine, we started our own meal service business from home: Damn.Delicious.ATX. We knew that we had to start our very own catering company one day. We moved to The Woodlands to be closer to family and make our business dream come true!

Not only are we innovative and take food to the next level, we are extremely down-to-earth and care about our clients. We know what it is like to have poor food and service, and how frustrating it can be. Our mission is to provide a fresh product with friendly, professional service.

It's important to us that we take all COVID-19 safety rules and regulations into consideration. From preparing the food in our kitchen to executing and serving at events, we wear our masks, keep gloves on, and ensure a safe environment for all.
