I had the pleasure of working alongside Erika at a wedding this past June. As a wedding videographer, we work intimately alongside the photographer for a good portion of the day.
It's very important for us to keep communication lines open and respect each other's creative needs. Erika was gracious and easy to work with, and of course, her work speaks for itself! Erika has great composition and storytelling throughout her portfolio.
People sometimes forget, not only are the photos important themselves, but the experience of capturing those photos is what you will reflect on years down the road. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Capturing an authentic moment! I often will provide cues for getting couples, families or individuals comfortable. I try and incorporate humor and personality into the session as well. I find that the secret for capturing those memorable moments can be in getting the subject to laugh, move, pose, etc. in an authentic way.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Do you have a location in mind? Are you trying to capture or portray something specific? Do you have ideas of specific poses or items that you would like to incorporate?
What do you love most about your job?
I'm privileged to be with my clients during their special moments and significant milestones. I honestly feel like I have the best job in the world because I have the ability to express my creativity through photography with the added bonus of being able to work with clients in such a meaningful way. Capturing those magical moments are what I Iove most!
What inspired you to start your own business?
I was inspired to start my own business when I had an amazing experience with my engagement and wedding photographer and I thought, "I want to do that!" My photographer has since become a close friend and mentor through the experience so it's a win win.

I'm an outdoor enthusiast and fun-loving Momma to my son Oliver James and four-legged English Labrador, Gus, looking to capture your memories in the Pacific Northwest. I love documenting memories in unique locations that highlight the amazing landscape that is our backyard here in Portland, Oregon.
