Erica is as good as it gets. Â If you are looking for a great dog trainer, great person, and a great resource all rolled into one, you are looking for Erica. Â I called Erica to come to my home and work with my two elderly dogs. Â It turns out that old dogs CAN learn new tricks, if they are being nurtured by the right person. Â Erica will listen carefully and observe, and provide you with answers and sensible solutions. Â You and your pets will gain a new and wonderful sense of confidence. Â My dogs and I are all much calmer and happier because we now have practical problem solving skills for any tricky situation. Erica is great! We have done 3 sessions with her and our two dogs. She is always busy, but she finds a way to make a time for you. I love that she's no-nonsense, I have a problem thinking that my boys are humans and she has offered great advice and training tips to help not only the pups, but me as well. She has come to our location, which is great for me, and she schedules her sessions around what behaviors you want to focus on. I have seen Erika Lake numerous times since my initial review and apologize that it took so long for me to amend this! Â She's great. Â Every SINGLE problem has a direct answer that has your wondering "why didn't I think of that?" The solutions are always personally tailored to you, your dog, and your lifestyle. Â One hour with her is worth 10 times the several hours you may spend reading books/internet articles/whatever, so it is money well spent, indeed. Â There are no stock answers, but somehow it's all so simple. Â It has to do with consistency, communication, and love. Â My dogs look forward to the sessions, too! Â Erika is firm with humans and dogs, but never cruel or harsh - no choke chains, no unnecessary painful anything. Â It has to do with being clear and relying on simple directives. Â Many of us find that our own frustrations/emotions can get in the way of training our dogs, but Erika makes sure there is no room for that. Â Simple and effective!I often receive a follow-up email detailing what we did in the session which usually includes reminders and additional tips. Â This is helpful because the hour is already so packed with good information that having a sit down to review means she can sneak in extra tips without overwhelming you with too much info while she is at your home. As a fellow dog trainer, I would recommend Erica to anyone seeking professional help for their dog's behavior or training issues. I have personally worked with her on several cases and she is always intuitive, respectful and personable with the owners, and she's great with shy/fearful dogs. She is skilled, knowledgeable, patient, great with dogs, and I am happy to say she's a colleague. It's hard to find dog trainers in this town that don't try to do the whole "celebrity" dog trainer thing, or use gimmicks and slick marketing to trick owners into thinking they need to spend thousands of dollars to fix their dog's leash reactivity by dropping their poor dog off at some "boot camp" somewhere where the trainers do god-knows-what to the dogs. From someone who knows the business well, trust me, Erica is a GREAT trainer for any issue from potty training to aggression! More...

Not enough great things to say about Erica Lake! From the minute you meet her you know you've found the right trainer. She quickly assesses the situation, listens to your concerns carefully and develops a plan to get you and your best friend back on the right track. I'm still not sure whether she does a better job of training the owner or the dog but her style, confidence and intuitive sense of the relationship all work together to deliver fantastic results.
