How long have you been interested in magic?
I've been involved with magic most of my life as an amateur, but started seriously studying the performance of it around 1986. By 1988 I joined the Academy of Magical Arts (aka Magic Castle) and joined the International Brotherhood of Magician (aka IBM) along with a few other local magic organizations.
Besides learning and in turn teaching fellow club members, I also served in running several clubs as President an on their boards for numerous years.
I'm a Past President of both IBM Ring 313 and the Orange County Magic Club.
I became a professional magician around 2012 while reinventing myself as a result of the economy and end of my long career as a computer systems analyst.
Since 2014, I have been teaching a weekly magic class at the Cerritos Senior Center. Since the pandemic lockdown, that has continued via weekly Zoom sessions.
Take us through your show – what can we expect?
First it is critical to know more about the party or event details before an accurate cost can be determined since there are a lot of factors involved clients rarely consider.
If find most people don't really understand the difference between Walk Around Close-up Magic and Parlor/Stage magic.
As an example:
How many people, age range of guests, type of show requested (stage, parlor, or walk around magic), venue layout & details (private home, restaurant, banquet room, community center, indoor or outdoor, etc,). other activities that might be going on or on a schedule, is food being served before, during or after the show, is dress casual, business, or formal, are there any honored guests that should received special attention.
I usually plan to arrive 20 minutes early should anything need to be set up for a stage show. With walk round close-up magic, I usually arrive ready to perform, nothing or very little to set up.
As for payment, cash at the time works best. I will accept a check if I know to expect that in advance, Also Zelle bank transfer, Venmo, or in some cases Paypay.
What do you love most about your job?
I love entertaining people. I literally perform 1 trick in particular almost everywhere I go which usually brightens their day & makes them smile. I also like the freedom of being my own boss.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Necessity. After the economic crash of 2008 which ended my 20 year computer Systems Analyst career, I had to reinvent myself, so I drew upon my two main hobbies, performing magic and making 3D Shadowboxes of comic book covers, into businesses.

I have done some virtual magic shows on Zoom.
I also hold a weekly Magic Workshop on Zoom currrently with about 6 students.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
As for covid, I am fully vaccinated with a booster and can wear a face mask if needed. Magic, by its nature, is interactive with spectators. I will be asking people to pick a card or hold something. I can provide disposable gloves for those concerned if needed
