After being a customer for many years and coming here and spending a little bit over 25 or $30 every time I come. I usually come here sometimes more than 3 times a week. Today they did not have change for my hundred bill I did not have my card on me and the young manager just turned me away with an apology. I went as far as asking her how much I needed to spend so she could break it and she said, I don't think so, I'll be out of my fives and ones. This was at 11am, for being a customer I think that they should have a better solution than not having change and turning me away to go somewhere else or to go get change with my son. I miss the old manager.--- I reviewed this after the fact and their owner, Shannon definitely responded immediately and offered an apology and a discount at my next visit. I like this place in regards to food, though I must mention the portions vary sometimes on the same plate, I'm not sure why but it might be who makes the food that day? That gets to me sometimes but I still like the taste it's good. Croissants sometimes are super small too, wish they could do something about that. When you're hungry it sucks to see something be smaller than the usual. I love the more mature woman with the rockabilly hair and style, she has the attitude to make you feel good going in there. Stopped in for my first time this morning and could not be happier with the service and quality! I had the bagel breakfast sandwich, just the scrambled eggs on a jalapeno and cheese bagel and, wow, was it delicious. The bagel was perfectly crispy on the outside and so soft and chewy on the inside. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and basically melted in my mouth, so wonderful. I also got the lemon yerba mate iced tea which was wonderfully refreshing. I am very happy with my first experience here and will definitely bring my friends and family to try it out. I always come to this place for their tiramisu slices. They are hit and miss but for the most part they are good. They have food here but I’ve never had it so I can’t really rate that. I love this place. The atmosphere is laid-back and friendly and the service is excellent. But the main thing is the fabulous food: Their hand-made pies are incredibly delicious! And the yummy oatmeal & cranberry and oatmeal & chocolate chip cookies are delectable. My favorite morning is when they have Quiche Lorraine available. I used to drive to Le Pain Quotidien in West LA for their Quiche Lorraine and never found another that was acceptable--even when they opened a shop in Westlake. But Marie Shannon's is fabulous. And they have empanadas! Everything I have tried there has been delicious. They are also very accommodating to each customer's questions and needs. This was my first visit and I LOVED it! I am vegan and I was told by locals they had vegan options. When I went to order they didn't have any vegan baked goods prepared but ensured me they would make them fresh if I was willing to wait. I ordered an almond chi latte and it was amazing and while enjoying their lovely patio with my latte Davi, the employee, brought out a complementary fresh vegan gluten free chocolate chip cookie. It was delicious and the thought and effort of her going out of her way to better my already great experience was so nice and refreshing. I WILL be back! Hubs and I have been on the wagon regarding sugar but today was just a day that required sweetening.Stopped by after lunchtime, wish I could have tried one of the empanadas! They sounded great!Shopped the large cookie selection and came up with a peanut butter and a Mexican chocolate cookie. Had to be extra indulgent and also got a lemon bar and a chocolate dipped coconut macaroon.All of the cookies are extra large and $1.85 each. Other desserts vary but all seemed reasonably priced. For those bargain shoppers, they also package four or so day old cookies in one bag. Not sure of the price there but obviously discounted.The peanut butter cookie is what I tried first. I just couldn't get peanut butter out of it, and the edges were super dry. It certainly wasn't a bad cookie, just really didn't do it for me though.The Mexican chocolate cookie seemed a lot fresher, much more chew. Nice flavors, although I couldn't really get Mexican chocolate out of it. It was a very good dark cocoa-y cookie.The lemon bar had a super intense lemon filling that was very tart. The crust was the thinnest crust I've seen on a lemon bar, and so it was completely softened. It gave the impression of being a couple days old because of the wettish crust.The coconut macaroon was humongous! I was pretty excited about it. When I tasted the chocolate that it had been dipped in I was over the moon happy. Good quality dark chocolate, moist coconut macaroon. 10+!!So I apologize because I know I'm picking out 'flaws' but I am a baker. I have really high standards when it comes to baked goods. I am extremely happy to have a bakery like Marie Shannon's here in Ventura. I cannot stand supposed bakeries that are just mixes and shortening. She is making real, quality products with good ingredients, and I am grateful. Having some makes me look forward to trying other items. But those coconut macaroons... I'll be back for you!! More...

I love Marie Shannon! We started coming here in 2014. From baby showers, gender reveal to first birthdays, Shannon has done them all! She's always wanting to make sure every detail is perfect. Her vanilla cake at myBaby shower was such a hit! Everyone went back for seconds. Her cakes have never been dry in my opinion and the frosting is always tasty! And I'm not a huge fan of frosting! Anyway, she's always comethrough when I've needed something last minute.'I own a business myself and sadly at times I space. Recently I ordered a baby shower cake and cookies for my son and daughter in law's baby shower. We live in another state and were flying in for the shower so everything was done over the phone and via email. We sent pictures of ideas we had and the colors and what kind of cake the mom-to-be wanted. When I arrived the day of the shower to pick everything up, it was all ready on time and boxed up. Everyone at the shower raved about the cake and cookies and asked where I had ordered from. When you are in Ventura and walking around on a beautiful day, and your nose suddenly catches a sweet ethereal aroma, be sure to trust your instincts, I know I was glad I did. We found Marie Shannon's just off the main drag across from the theater. There we found a paradise of confections tucked into a quaint little bake shop. There was a bunch of seating inside and out, ranging from chairs and tables to couches and counters. We checked out the pastry cabinet and as my wife and son were making their choices I spied a huge pan of fresh sticky buns, I was sold. We gathered our treats and sat outside by the relaxing outdoor patio and watched as people strolled by envious as to what we had in front of us. My son had the chocolate and peanut butter bar and my wife had the lemon tart. Both were very good but the star of the day goes to my soft fresh and warm sticky bun. Tons of cinnamon and pecans sat on top of a large pillow of dough. After taking the last bite of my vegan + gluten free black bean enchilada meal at Nature's Grill, I mentioned to a friend that I was craving a sweet ending, and that I wish they had vegan + gluten free dessert. She quickly pointed out their cookie case, saying she was pretty sure the items were marked as vegan + gluten free.
