Elizabeth's Chop House

We entered the establishment at around 3:27pm. The place must’ve JUST opened. We walked in and were greeted with a gorgeous ambience of 1960s era music. The host, Bobby if I recall correctly, was absolutely wonderful. They seated us and put the cloth napkins in our lap FOR US. Quite elegant, really; I’ve never been to an establishment that did that.Our waitress was intelligent about the wines and menu, and helped my date with choosing the perfect sides for her entree, and assisted me in finding the best pairing for my porterhouse.The lobster bisque was superb, and my dates chopped salad was divine (in her opinion as I WAS NOT ALLOWED a single bite!). Our entrees came after about 10 to 15 minutes, enough time for the beginning courses to settle and allowed me to decide if the wine I received was going to pair well with my steak (which it did). The porterhouse was cooked rare, but with a twist. Charred grill marks on the top with a seer on the bottom. I had a business lunch with an important and close customer. The service upon entry until we left was exceptional. Sara, our server was extremely knowledgeable about the restaurant, the menu and events going on locally. Her pleasant and professional demeanor was welcoming and she was a good ambassador for the restaurant. We have dined at Elizabeth’s many times. The food is always well prepared, the wait staff wonderful, the wine list prepared with care to support proper pairing and the martinis are something to which we look forward. This is a great restaurant.

We were very disappointed with our meal. What was stated on the menu, saffron risotto, was not provided. Instead we received a mushy rice that tasted like a box Zatarain's. We were not told of any substitutions when ordering either. When we asked the server we were told, "it happens." Nothing was taken off of our bill either. Salmon was over cooked as well. Cheap plastic flowers on the table, even the Stonehouse in Escanaba uses fresh roses, and the table cloths are so thin you can see the tape and tears on the table top below. My husband and I wanted something upscale after a week in Munising. We discovered Elizabeth’s chop house and made reservations for that evening. The service was incredible. Our server was quick to meet any and all of our needs. The martini i started the evening with was the best I’ve ever had. We split the seafood sampler and was blown away by how exceptional it was! This was our first visit to Elizabeth's Chop house and we were a bit hesitant based on recent reviews, but we couldn't have been happier. We started with the lobster bisque and caesar salad. The bisque was good, but the salad was awesome. My husband ordered a filet and I got the scallops. Both were prepared very well and so good. We got a side of morel mushrooms as they were a special for the night. Our cocktails were huge. We ordered dessert to go. Service was very good and the view was nice. We had a party of three ladies, two meals ordered from regular menu were fantastic!!! One meal was the "special" and there was nothing special about it. Fish was dry, first baked potato was set back because it was black in the middle, replacement potato was cold. Overall, I will go back!! Lamb chops are amazing!!service was impeccable!! We had a dinner to celebrate our anniversary here last Saturday night while in Marquette for a long weekend getaway. The setting on the enclosed porch with a view of Lake Superior, on a beautiful early summer evening, was awesome! Dylan was our server, and he was very attentive and friendly. The whitefish bites appetizer was very tasty, our lobster bisque was very good, and our sides, drinks and dessert were delicious. The steaks, though, were just okay. My wife had the prime rib, and though it was tender, it was really pretty bland. I had the 20-oz. bone-in ribeye, and though tasty, it was pretty tough with more fat/gristle than I thought there should be. All in all, though, it was a pleasant evening. More...
