What’s your signature dish?
As a cocktail and whiskey bar, we are known for both classic whiskey cocktails and award-winning original recipes. Our Pomplemousse au Poivre won the 2018 Cocktail of the Year from the San Francisco World Spirits Awards and consists of Del MAguey Vida mezcal, Giffard Pamplemousse liqueur, house made Elixir de Poivre cordial, lemon juice and grapefruit bitters, served over crushed ice and garnished with pink peppercorn. You can Google the cocktail name for national coverage on the drink and the win.
How do you go about creating the perfect menu for your clients?
We do it in close consultation with the stakeholders of the event. We offer tastings and reveiw sessions, and make sure everyone is signed off on the final product.
What do you love most about your job?
I get to interact with people in their happiest moments. Being the source of that happiness is richly reward. Serving people and making people happy is what the hospitality business is all about.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I worked in 26 different bars and restaurant's around the country, in all positions, before getting my MBA. I bartended all through school (#27), had a short series of post-MBA jobs, and ended up unemployed in the post-dot com bubble, so I bartended again (#28). Six months later I realized that I wanted to put all of the experience and education into my own vision, so I dropped everything, wrote a business plan, started a company, found investors and a space, and opened 11 months later. That was 20 years ago.

We began teaching people how to drink better in 2007 while most had never even heard of a cocktail class. Whether you need it for team building, client entertainment, a birthday, bachelor/bachelorette party or just an excuse to get friends together, we supply everything! Come to Elixir for a private event or we can bring it to you.

We've produced everything from intimate little gathering to large street festivals. While our core business is beverage, our long history in event production has given us the expertise to throw just about any party, and we can connect you with the leading providers of just about every service needed.
