I would say that San Diego has higher quality of massage than Los Angeles.I am a fan of massage, and there are lots of massage stores in Los Angeles.  However, it feels like most of those stores do not put lots of heart in to it,  it feels like they are just doing half-ass job most of the time.But Elegant massage was different,they therapist inquired about my specific needs in detail before we get started.As I required, she spent extra time on the foot massage, and deep pressure on my lower back.Hot tea after the session made it really nice！ More...

My sister and I have been coming here since they opened. We usually get a foot/reflexology massage for $20 once a week. Sometimes twice a week. Also have had 1 hour massages as well. I came here not expecting much because of the lower prices of the massages. I did the full body massage for $40 as a walk-in (I booked an appointment but arrived an hour earlier since I got off work sooner than expected. ) A young lady at the front desk took my payment and escorted me to a room right away. She asked me if I wanted hard pressure or medium pressure, I told her medium/gentle. My masseuse was an older lady and Anah was her name (unsure of the spelling). I asked her to focus on my neck and back since I woke up with a neck spasm that morning. She was very gentle and relaxing! If I made a tiny movement or sigh she would ask if I was okay. I have had massages before that were very rough and I left in more pain, but today I felt so relaxed. My neck felt almost 100% better! If you want a gentle massage make an appointment with Anah! Regarding tip: there are little signs in the room that recommend tip amounts. For example, $15+ for the 60 min and $20+ for the 90 min. I only had $10 cash with me so I gave her that and apologized that it was so "low" (even though it was 25%  of $40...) and no one fussed at me or made me feel guilty. More...

I was a walk in at 8 pm on a Sunday night, $40 for a 1 hour body massage. A tall man came in a few minutes after I entered the room and went straight to business. Luckily his English was pretty good so I was able to communicate throughout the session, the table was nice and sturdy, and the atmosphere was just right. I went in today for the first time without an appointment and decided on a 60 minute full body massage at $40. I was promptly guided to a private room and my masseuse did a wonderful job especially on my problem areas (legs and calves). The place also looked clean and professional. The massage was great, especially for the price.  but the man who runs the front desk pressures people into tipping more. I left a really good tip and when I gave him the money he asked me if that the amount I gave was correct (hinting: was that all I was going to tip ?) When I said the amount was correct, he refused to look at me or say anything so I just left lol I don't think a business should guilt trip into leaving a bigger tip when you already leave a good one! I did one hour foot massage, paid for service of $20, and I tip the guy with $20. Since I feel this is one whole hr one to one service. It's not like in restaurant, Bring over your dishes and water, and then left. You still need to pay 15% in tip. Especially I felt so good and relaxing after my massage. Andy and Kevin are both great. Andy is the best masseur I've ever had. He knows how to deliver just the right amount of pressure and responds quickly to requests for more or less pressure. He clearly enjoys what he does. He's pleasant and friendly, but the mood is always slow and quiet. I always leave feeling lighter, stronger and more comfortable than when I came in.Most of the discussion about tipping is b.s. What a bunch of cheap, whiny little bitches. A massage of the quality that you get at 'Elegant' for $40 costs $100 anywhere else and those places "recommend" $20-25 for their $100 massage. Today I had a NINETY minute massage. It cost $60. I tipped $40 because it was exceptional. I figure I saved at least $50 and got a better massage than I ever got at 'Zen Spa' or 'Massage Envy.' More...

Andy was amazing!!!! Professional technique, pressure was perfect, and in spots where I needed less pressure he happily obliged. So glad I finally went after years of driving by! And for those complaining about the tipping policy - are you serious Yes - the "foot" massage may be $20.00, but clearly the massage technicians work primarily for the gratuities. And for the record the "foot" massage is really way more than feet - back, shoulders, head, neck, arms are also given some attention. I tipped $20.00 on a $20.00 massage and given the high quality, I wouldn't feel right about tipping any less. Anyone defending giving a 20% (or $4.00 tip) on an hour foot massage should be ashamed - you are clueless, and cheap. More...

I have received several foot massages from Elegant Massage and have not yet been disappointed. Every experience has been a little different but they have all been great.  Sometimes the pressure is a bit much but if I ask them to go lighter they do, and I do agree the towels are so rough it feels like exfoliation, but where else can you get a great 60 minute massage for $20?  I don't even mind the $10 tip and am happy to pay it because I feel like they really put everything they can into it.  One guy was almost out of breath after 60 minutes of massaging me! It's nice to have a place that doesn't short you 10 minutes for "undressing" like Massage Envy or hardly use any pressure at all so you don't feel any results the next day. Most places charge so much that a tip of 20% ends up being way more than $10.  These guys work incredibly hard and deserve a good tip.  I know I certainly could not massage several people for hours upon hours each day.  Thank goodness for this place!  So far, I've been really happy with Michael and Jason. I have visited Elegant 4 times now, 3 of those times for a 'couples' foot massage. Bottom line: very pleased with the entire experience and I/we will be going back. The staff helps to make you comfortable. The the setting is clean and well designed, and what I call the 'generic massage' is done very professionally ( I've experienced 3 different staff members). Because of a chronic problem, I have been receiving therapeutic massage therapy for over 45 years.
