Rogier with Eager Eye Photography came highly recommended to me from the Bar Harbor Inn. I could not be happier with him. First, he is one of the most reasonably priced photographers in the area . He was also the only photographer I contacted out of around ten that was flexible and willing to only come for a few hours and take pictures during the ceremony. Most importantly, he was extremely fun to work with, took absolutely STUNNING pictures and made them available the next day. He also offered more pictures than specified in our contract. We hired Rogier and second shooter Daryn to photograph our pre-wedding bowling party and wedding day at Point Lookout in Northport, ME. It was a destination wedding for us.
These guys were consummate professionals. Rogier knew just the questions to ask us before the event. He even asked us to send him casual pictures of ourselves that we like, to get a sense of "us". He was available to talk on the phone when we needed to talk, and he drove hours to meet us when we were up in Maine to scope things out before the wedding. He always responded promptly.
Rogier was well prepared to shoot. He was early to our bowling night and did all he could to get the best shots- he'd already set up flashes by the time we arrived (and we were early). On wedding day he and Daryn again went the extra mile to get the best shots. Daryn scrambled over rocks to get some amazing shots of us and Rogier figured out just the right spots to shoot as the sun was very quickly setting and the light was changing. They both worked hard and were extremely committed throughout the event.
Of course the most important measure is the pictures we got. They're incredible. The quality of shots is fantastic. Compared to pictures guests shot, and it's remarkable the contrast. Rogier's photos are crystal clear, uncluttered, have amazing color and contrast. They are well framed. These pictures will last us a lifetime and always bring us happiness. We are delighted with Eager Eye. Getting to know Rogier leading up to the wedding was fantastic. He was warm and responsive to all our inquiries (and he gave us much grace when we weren't always totally responsive ourselves). His work spoke for itself, but his accompanying professionalism and personality really made him our #1 choice. Furthermore, the FAQ that Rogier gave us detailed everything we could expect from working with him, and it was helpful to the point of answering questions I didn’t even know I had. It was a huge stress-relief to know he’d have us covered on our wedding day. It is unrepeatable, afterall.

On the day of the wedding we had a great experience with Rogier and his assistant photographer. They were fun to work with and in no time we were totally at ease behind the camera. At the reception they were wonderful (albeit busy!) wedding guests. We have fond memories of Rogier getting up close and personal with the contra dance portion of our reception.

We got our photos earlier than expected and we're still smiling with the collection Rogier made for us -- even moreso because he went above and beyond in quantity. They’re vivid and full of life. They didn’t miss a beat -- all the small details are there, things we’d actually forgotten until we were given the pictures, things we are so thankful were captured. Rogier photographed our wedding in Maine. Despite crossing my fingers for sunny skies, the afternoon was dreary and rainy. However, Rogier still managed to make the outdoor photos look full of life and dramatic beauty. For the indoor photos in the evening, we asked him to take pictures against a window, which created an extra challenge to avoid reflections on the glass. Yet again, Rogier worked magic. Working with Rogier has been a real pleasure from the first day we contacted him.

He's punctual, flexible, and as we've learnt from other vendors at our wedding is well-known in Bar Harbor for his skills. We were particularly drawn to him for two reasons. First, while looking very professional and well-composed, his photos are not excessively edited, and retain a natural look and feel to them. Second, being a Maine resident he knows the Acadia National Park area in and out and was able to offer some very valuable suggestions.

Rogier stayed true to his motto: underpromise and overdeliver. While his contract terms are more than reasonable and standard for his industry, he goes above and beyond to deliver photographs ahead of schedule, and included significantly more shots that we've agreed to. The amazing part - he delivered pictures for our smaller wedding in less than 12 hours after completing the photo shoot! Waking up to an email with a link to our wedding pictures gallery the next morning was such an incredible gift.

We worked with Rogier in July 2018 to photograph our intimate ceremony on top of Cadillac Mountain. Throughout planning leading up to our big day he was very helpful and communicative. Rogier and Jenn did an amazing job capturing our wedding in Southwest Harbor, ME. From our very first emails/phone calls, Rogier was courteous, professional, and genuinely interested in knowing us. The whole process was easy and smooth. On the day of the event, Rogier and Jenn did an absolute marvelous job. They were able to capture every detail without us or our guests, even noticing them. We love all the pictures they produced and have a hard time deciding which ones we want framed, since many are so stunning. My family had a fantastic experience with Rogier of Eager Eye Photography at our photo shoot to celebrate my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. Leading up to the shoot, Rogier was receptive to questions and responded to email queries within 24 hours (usually much faster!). When he arrived to my parent's house, Rogier took the time to explore the property and select a few areas that would serve as different backdrops and then went out of his way to make us all feel comfortable (we aren't ones who seek out the camera). We are thrilled with the results and are still deciding which photographs we would like to order from the digital files that we were sent and could download. From initial contact to delivery of the final product, we loved working with EagerEye and are thrilled with our wedding photographs! Rogier understood the kind of relaxed photographs we were hoping for from our garden ceremony. He has a excellent aesthetic sense and a very fast turn-around time. Rogier worked closely with us to get the photos we wanted and was respectful of our guests during our busy wedding day. Although he was flying in after a European vacation just before out wedding, he had two of his staff on call in case his flight was delayed. We've know Rogier for years and when planning our wedding there was no question that we wanted him to photograph our special day. Rogier was helpful with all of my questions, he was very quick to respond to any email or FB message and on the day of the wedding he was extremely professional. Rogier shot both our engagement photos and our wedding and both resulted in pure perfection! He is incredibly fun to work with and has a way of making everyone feel comfortable having their pictures taken. Our wedding photos are absolutely stunning! We would definitely recommend him for anyone looking for a photographer that likes to have fun and really enjoys and gets into his work. I highly recommend Rogier van Bakel to anyone who wants a mindful, talented, and thorough wedding photographer. The pictures were absolutely stunning and wonderful. But beyond even that - he was extremely flexible and helpful both before, during, and after our wedding ceremony. When we had a last minute issue and had to move up the ceremony time, he did not even hesitate to accommodate us (relieving us of so much stress!). I had the privilege of interacting with Rogier at a friend’s Lucerne Inn wedding five years ago. I was impressed by his command of natural lighting and ability to capture a vast range of emotions. Additionally, his operations were impeccably covert as he worked his magic unassumingly through the crowd. It was photographer love at first sight. I had yet to meet the man I would marry but I knew that Rogier would be the one documenting my special day. Fast forward four years. Rogier shot our October wedding at French's Point in Stockton Springs and I cannot speak highly enough about him. Right from his initial response to our inquiry, to our pre-wedding conversations, to the wedding day itself, and through his delivery of our images, Rogier's attention and care for our wedding photos was exceptional. He made us feel like we were the only wedding he had to worry about. I can't say enough about Eager Eye Photography! The pictures were absolutely amazing!!! Rogier captured all of the special moments of our day and more! The pictures looked lifelike and were such high quality. We got every shot that we wanted and more. Rogier has a wonderful eye for artist pictures and captured some truly lovely moments. Rogier was very easy to work with. He answered all of my questions in a timely manner. We even met for a beer before the wedding to go over all of the details. He not only covered our big day but he covered family events before and after the wedding. We got great shots from these events as well. He always arrived early. His assistant, Debra, was lovely as well. We received our wedding photos before the promised deadline and he even included more photos then the agreement called for. Rogier is absolutely amazing. We were a bit unique and had him take photos for our engagement in Acadia National Park. Not only did he capture the moment, we did an engagement photo shoot afterwards for an additional hour. He kept us in touch the entire process, even drove out the day before to the spot to make sure he wouldnt missthe moment at sunrise in the park. A true professional who's talents radiated from the shoot. He even went over almost an hour to make sure we got all the best parts of the park at sunrise. The quality of the images were absolutely stunning; I am a photographer myself and the work he did with the lighting that we had, was unbelievable. We had a delightful experience from beginning to end with Rogier. The brochure he sent upon booking a session was very helpful in deciding what everyone should wear. With 17 people in our family group, it was very important. The day of the shoot went well with Rogier being able to get along with everyone age 9 to 80. Working with Rogier Van Bakel was a great and positive experience. He was quick to answer my questions, straight to the ppoint and detailed enough to calm my worries. On the actual photoshoot day, he arrived on time and had the "eye" for good pictures. Rogier was amazing and very accommodating. He was not intrusive when taking photos and allowed us to determine which groups we wanted. When my husband and I left the cocktail hour to go take pictures on our own we felt 100% comfortable being ourselves and enjoying the moment. We did not order an album, so I can't review on album quality, but we do have the chance to order prints if we so desire (which we probably will!). Rogier shot a variety of images, not just of myself and my husband, but of our wedding guests as well. All in all, everyone was courteous, respectful, timely, and kind. The pictures are both artful and technically proficient. We received the photos a week earlier than the previously discussed deadline and Rogier delivered us 80% more photos than agreed upon. “Above and beyond!” We can’t say enough good things about our experience taking a family portrait with Rogier van Bakel from Eager Eye Photography, Bar Harbor, Maine. Since scheduling a family portrait during the school year is tricky, we decided to make it part of our family vacation. This year marks the sixth year the Abbe Museum has hired Eager Eye Photography to photograph our Gala, which is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Ten years ago Rogier van Bakel (Eager Eye Photography) photographed our wedding. We love the pictures he took, literally enjoying them every day on a digital frame and printed in a gorgeous album on our coffee table and felt we should thank him again with a review.

When we hear a friend is getting married, after congratulating them, the first thing we advise them to do is to book Rogier as their photographer!

Before our wedding we looked at the websites of a couple of dozen Maine photographers and choose Rogier based on his portfolio and a conversation we had with him on the phone. We were very lucky, he was easy to have at our small wedding and we love his pictures! Having worked for years as a professional photographer (and being a bit of a perfectionist) I had very high expectations. Rogier is a gem. He takes the time to get to know you, he spent hours with us in the months leading up to the wedding, and makes sure he knows what you want in your photos.
