Second time visiting Rome and had to visit Doug’s Deli again! Got a half and half sandwich and salad - Asian Salad and the Turkey sandwich with provolone. Salad was fantastic and I got the focaccia bread for the sandwich, with the sandwich toasted, which was more like a panini. All very good. Upon arriving the deli, I could tell it’s local and not franchised. It has cute decor and all the pastries presented behind the pretty showcase. The menu selections were sensible. I had the pimiento cheese sandwich combo. It was just perfect. Their pickles are homemade cucumbers in pickling spices. There were plenty of assorted flavored chips to choose from. The service was great and I liked the atmosphere a lot, but my Cobb salad was just adequate. Doug’s Deli is a truly wonderful place to eat and work at as well. Julie and Doug are incredible people and they are doing amazing things at this restaurant! We've eaten here a number of times and every time the food and service have both been exceptional! The menu has so many options and great healthy choices. It's great that you have the option of a half sandwich/half salad also. Homey atmosphere inside and 4-5 tables outside seating. Love the Downtown Turkey!! If you haven't tried Doug's Deli, try it. You will love it. My only problem is you aren't open for supper. Lol. Like I told your daughter, I love this place. I love Doug’s gluten-free option! No one in town offers the quality of gluten-free food. I will gladly overcome no parking and crowded dining room to have a hot meal I can actually eat and friendly, fast service.
