This review is for TWO emergency stays that I needed within the last 1-2 months. Without a doubt, I have never felt so much warmth and support from their manager and staff at the front desk from a low-key, small town, hotel. This is not a super fancy hotel that you spend thousands of dollars for, but the people who work here make you feel extremely welcome and invited. I was here due to emergency matters and so nothing was planned in advance, nothing was called in advance, and we walked in with no expectations other than they respect our privacy and treat us as well as their other guests who walk in after months of planning and using their promotions. Upon walking in, the manager was called in to help with my booking. Since we did not know exactly how many days/nights we would need to stay, they were able to set a tentative check-out date and made this perfectly flexible for our needs. We were able to get into our rooms and check-in immediately, which was one of the most comforting feeling, since we rushed in all of a sudden. In addition, due to the nature of our stay, the manager also gave us an extremely generous rate that was much lower than any of the rates (even comparing cheaper hotels and inns/motels in the area) we ever saw advertised online, even on travel deal websites! Doubletree then books you, hands you your keys, and a set of super warm/fresh out of the oven (literally) cookies, then sends you on your way to your perfectly clean and comfortable room, all with a very warm and lovely smile. There is more and more I could write about this Doubletree, especially about the incredible Manager who works here, all wonderful praise for making my emergency into less of a thunderstorm, and more like a rainfall. I plan on sending them a Thank You card in the mail tomorrow morning for making my time here, both times, so extraordinary. I hope that I encounter all future hotel visits with such pleasant and wonderful experiences as I have at this DoubleTree. I recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay in the area. Everything is very clean and tidy, the rooms all come with bottles of fresh bottled water, everything is cleaned very well on a daily basis (don't forget to tip!), and there is plenty of parking in their lot, and there are a lot of good restaurants and eateries within walking distance. 5 STARS. Stayed here for two nights and will be staying again.  Hands down the best customer service I have ever received at any hotel.  Jackie was the person who checked me in and went above and beyond.  I had some questions about my Hilton Honors account and she looked into it and called my room after I had checked in to provide information.  I thought for sure she was going to forget.  Not the case at this hotel.  Kudos to Jackie!  Room was well appointed with a mini refrigerator and microwave.  Room and bathroom were also very clean.  No complaints here.  The reason for deducting one star is because of the A/C.  It is very noisy, more so than usual.  I generally leave the A/C on to act as white noise, although it was pretty warm during the time I was there, so it would have been on anyway, and while it worked great as white noise, it was way too loud (e.g., from time to time sounded like a motorcycle engine).  It also didn't cool as well as it should.  However, I would definitely stay again -  the hotel is well appointed and customer service is on par with 5 star hotels. I felt like I should go ahead and write a review about this because the customer service was truly incredible. So last night, while leaving dinner at the nearby Red Lobster, my phone stopped working. And I wasn't quite sure how to get to our next destination, so my buddy and I walked into the DoubleTree to ask someone who worked at the hotel next door, since they may be able to help us. When we walked into the lobby, we were warmly greeted by a woman at the desk. We explained that we were not guests at the hotel, but that we had some questions. Now, granted, it could be that it was just a slow night for the front desk employee, but she took the time to answer our questions and send us on the right way. It's just something you don't encounter anymore in our current climate. Someone just willing to help when they know nothing is in it for them or the company.I wish I had gotten her name. But she was working the front desk, around 6:00/7:00 PM on Sunday, July 21st, 2019.  She was so nice and I feel so stupid for not getting her name. She deserves a raise. More...

I've been on the hunt for the perfect venue. I've toured them from Corona to Malibu and I have lived to tell the story. One of my favorite venue was the DoubleTree here in Monrovia. It was close to all my family and friends, it's a hotel for all my out of town to not have to worry about additional transportation, and the chocolate chip cookies. That  treat had me sold!I reached out for pricing and quote and the prices were very reasonable compared to other venues nearby and provided so much more also. Yelena was so sweet and helpful in all my questions. I loved that she was understanding and gave such great advice for our wedding planning. The ceremony would take place in the pool area, the reception in the banquet hall, and cocktail hour just outside of it. Plenty of parking spaces for guests, easy to find, lots of nearby shops!A contender for sure! More...

The staff working at the front desk & restaurant were nice & professional. The room was clean, spacious, & updated. The bed was comfy & large. Breakfast had a good selection with an omelet station and they serve real OJ none of that nasty stuff. We called down for a crib and it arrived about 5 minutes later. Had a family issue and was in LA every weekend for practically a month and after staying at a few economical hotels, this was by far the best. This Double Tree is located right in the Pasadena/Arcadia border. There are a lot of restaurants and coffee shops nearby (all walking distance). The staff at the front counter are always very enthusiastic and polite whenever you check in/out or have a question. They always give me a warm freshly baked cookie, which is pretty good btw! You receive 2 drink vouchers for the bar downstairs as well. Each room came with 2 free breakfasts, if you have an additional guest it's like $16 for the breakfast buffet. The buffet isn't fantastic but better than other hotels. The rooms are pretty spacious and the bathrooms are large and bright. I had an issue one night where the room next door was blasting music (and horrible music at that) at 2:30am. I called the front desk to complain and they sent security up right away. Overall if you are in town for business or something casual, I would recommend this hotel. More...

Random staycation led us to DoubleTree by Hilton Monrovia ---- and we were pleased. Made a reservation for one night through the Hotel Tonight application and checked in with ease. Then again, we did check in quite late around 9pm when less people were around. Not sure why others below me had issues, though. Complimentary parking for the win, also!Comfortable bed, large shower (enough for two people to share, if you wanted), a couch, and bathrobes. There is a microwave, mini fridge, and coffee maker in the room for your convenience as well.We opted for the $14/person breakfast in the hotel and were happy about that. The omelet station serves up a mean omelet that can be loaded with bacon, spinach, tomatoes, cheese, and other delights. If that doesn't tickle your fancy, they also have scrambled eggs, waffles, pancakes, bacon, sausage, donuts, toast, cereal, oatmeal, miso soup, coffee, orange juice, apple juice, and a full bar, among others. Great service, too! They kept refilling my coffee, and even gave me a straw when I asked for it.If that's not your cup of tea, there are PLENTY of eateries in the surrounding area. Literally. You can walk to Claim Jumper, Starbucks, or Tokyo Wacko if you wanted to.Overall, decent place to stay. More...

The hotel itself is contemporary, as you walk in there's a reception area to the left and a small snack area to the right. A bar and restaurant off to the back right along with a pool directly outside. There were two reservationists ready to check me in and it was efficiently done. The room was comfortable, with a small sitting area and sofa as well as a huge infinity tub big enough for two. The shower was a bit awkward but the tub made up for it. There wasn't a lot of bathroom counter space but I managed to get all my toiletries organized. The bed was nice, room was clean but the television was on a wall adjacent to the bed so I camped out in the middle to make it more easy to watch. They offered warm chocolate chip cookies to snack on. Why doesn't every hotel do that? Here's your room, and complimentary tiramisu wouldn't that be good? I am really surprised about the mediocre reviews this DoubleTree is receiving.  The rooms are fine.  The beds are comfortable, the rooms are spacious enough, pretty much what one would expect from this range of hotel.  Comfortable, nice but not luxe.  Their rates aren't terribly expensive so I think you get way more value than one would expect for the price.  But you know what?  What really makes this hotel great are it's employees. I can honestly say that I have never, ever, have been treated better in a hotel than I have at this DoubleTree. And believe me, I've stayed at them all.  Motel 6 level when traveling across America, little mom and pop road side inns, up to W, Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons and Peninsula...  everyone I've encountered has been great, but the best of the best is Nicholas at the front desk.  Nicholas is the epitome of the type of person who should be working in the hospitality business.  He is always warm, personable and welcoming.  From the first time I walked in to this location he made me feel like I was coming into a friend's home.  He also seems to care about his guests; and I mean truly care, not that put on, "I'm supposed to act as if I care so I'll use caring words that really just sound hollow and rehearsed."  Have there been little glitches?  Yeah, glitches happen and they happen everywhere from time to time.  And, when on happened it was handled promptly and beautifully.  My shower head was dripping.  No big deal but it was really loud; the type of drip that would keep you awake all night.  Nicholas handled it quickly and efficiently.  Unfortunately the engineer had already gone home, so he asked what he could do to make it right.  We decided that another room would be great.  He brought me up the keys for the new room (I had something similar at a W and they made me come down for the new keys), then he offered to help carry some of my belongings down to help me resettle into my new space.  Bam, handled.  Just like that.  Oh and he double checks to make sure everything is great for me when I stay.  And, like a lunatic I inadvertently left my cosmetic bag after i checked out.  He found it, called right away, and let me know exactly where it was being stored in case he wasn't there when I came to pick it up. I mean truly there's not a single instance I can think of where he hasn't exceeded my expectations.    So next time you're at this hotel, when you check in tell him Erika Lamoureaux sent you. But it seems like the whole area is a quiet place even though there were a few shops and restaurants down the street. Overall it was a fairly pleasant stay. The rooms are well appointed and good value. I stayed on the top floor facing the San Gabriel Mountains. It was relatively quiet, but you can hear noise from hallway and a little from neighbors. A few complaints though...The curtains in the room are stuck on the far left and only close left to right. When opened they block the entire left window thus impeding the view. Maintenance was supposed to fix it on Saturday and never came back. Not a huge deal, but it would be nice to have the full view. The other issue was the construction next door and set-up for a reunion. This made relaxing by the pool around 2PM on Saturday a noisy time. I complained about the set-up and the gentleman I spoke to didn't seem to really care. I ended up just leaving the pool area, which was a major reason I booked the hotel. The construction should have been disclosed at the time of making the reservation. Finally, my digital key had issues on Friday night. The gal working the night shift was not friendly. She acted like I was doing something shady. I'm a luxury real estate professional from San Francisco. I don't look or act suspicious, but she acted as if I was bothering her. I was there for the weekend for my cousin's funeral. I found it very off putting and rude. Instead of apologizing for the issue she had a security guard follow me to my room to show my identification. I don't think I've ever been treated that way in a hotel before. The price was also very reasonable with AAA. I booked directly with the Hotel's site and got a better deal than the various discount sites. We needed two rooms and they put us right across from each other and we even checked in early! If a bath tub is important, ask for a room with one, otherwise you get a huge shower area with a high-quality detachable shower head. Also, they are not stingy with bathroom supplies and are generous on the towels. Most rooms have a microwave and mini-refrig. Mention it if you need both. Room 308 had both, room 309 didn't. There were also free bottles of water in each room! Wow! Also each room has a fantastic air and heating control. Easy to read and use, not the cheap dial type. Didn't need the heater, but air conditioning was amazing. Free ample parking and no loiterers. This is located near a ton of restaurants within walking distance and the Red Lobster even gives a 10% discount if you are staying at the hotel. One of the exits of the freeway (210) leads straight to the hotel, but I never heard freeway noise. Some rooms have a pool view, some have the mountain view. If you have a preference, just ask! This is the best place to stay even if you have to drive farther. For example, we went to Universal Studios one day, the Pomona Fairgrounds another day, and downtown LA a third day. Not really a deal breaker for me and they did include two delicious chocolate chip cookies to munch on as a sweet treat for just checking in. I work in facilities maintenance at a hospital so let me say that nothing escapes my eye when it comes to the details. I did my usual visual scan of the property & of our room. Everything for starters was very clean. The plumbing & refrigerator were in perfect working order. Water pressure & water temperature was good with plenty of hot water on tap. The room thermostat and air conditioner worked flawlessly. I saw no water leaks of any kind. The grounds were very clean, organized & litter free. No issues with the Wi-Fi or the flat screen TV either. I did see a few very small minor cosmetic issues but they did not detract overall from the quality of the room and again, being a building engineer by trade, I will naturally notice things others will not. The room also included a microwave, a hair dryer, & a coffee maker (with coffee) which by the way, was very good. The bed is wide & very comfortable but as mentioned by others, it is low to the ground. The usual complimentary soap-shampoo- conditioner is also provided There was a small lounge on every floor which included a soda machine & a ice maker. Also this hotel had some amazing & very scenic views of the nearby mountains from some of the windows.I did experience one issue & that was that I noticed that every ice machine had been shut off on every floor. I believe it may be due to water conservation. Ice was available, should you need it, from the bar from what the staff said. Some comments have been made by a few on Yelp about the décor. I'm not a interior designer but it seemed modern & updated enough for my taste. There is a pool, bar, fitness room & restaurant here at this location but we did not visit these facilities so we cannot comment on them at this time.  Restaurants like the Red Lobster & Claim Jumper & others are located within easy walking distance from the hotel.Overall this hotel was quiet, clean, safe & well maintained. It may cost more than the typical motel 6 but in the end you get what you pay for. No rooms reeking of pot or shady ghetto-ish characters patrolling the premises. I will definitely do business here again when I'm in the area & will check out the bar next time. Thanks Double Tree of Monrovia for a relaxing stay! More...
