I contacted Katie and Tim at Dog Training Elite Western Chicago before my puppy, Blondie, was ready to start training. They did a wonderful job walking me through all of their training options- very intensive/ hands-on training compared to other places that I had researched. Once the in-home training started, Blondie smoothly progressed (just like they said she would!) and she graduated to group training classes. Katie and Tim are so great with dogs (and people!) that even our group training classes have been wonderful experience for Blondie. Blondie is going to continue on for Support Dog training and I am so relieved we have their help along the way to guide us through all of our necessary requirements! We are so happy with the training and support we received from Tim and Katie! The one-on-one in-home support was great and they are so responsive. The group classes are great for practicing and enhancing the skills taught. Our dog was so reliant on treats the he would steal and guard an item (growl and snap) just to get a treat. It was a seemingly never ending cycle. While we never thought we’d be open to a e-collar, the stimulation is really very low and effective. The first days were rough, trying to get our dog used to the collar and new commands. He was stubborn and very reserved during that time, but with some continued work he got used to the training and continues to respond well even when we have to take the collar off. Tim and Katie also include additional basic training for our 5 year old dog that he did not receive during his puppy training classes from another company. We use his new training all the time now. The implied stay is something we never knew was even possible! (Just have to remember to use the release word!) Although I have loved & wanted a dog for decades, it wasn't until August that I actually had one of my own. I wanted the experience to be all that I envisioned and Katie has helped make that possible. What do you love most about your job?
We love working with all types of people and dogs. We strive to make our training fit what our customers needs. A major reason we decided to open our location of Dog Training Elite was the impact we have seen this company make throughout the United States. From puppies to service dogs we love it all!
What inspired you to start your own business?
Owning our own business is something my husband and I thought long and hard about. We love the idea of being able to deliver the quality of a great experience and share our techniques we have worked hard to develop. We are family driven and have three kids we want model hard work and determination for. We have loved dogs and owned them our entire lives. We loved what Dog Training Elite offered for service dogs, therapy dogs, and pet dogs. This lead to us wanted to open our own location of Dog Training Elite here in the Chicago Suburbs. Having a background in education we loved the idea of helping people achieve a more accusable life with a service dog. We also have a rescue dog who had fear reactivity to new people, and Dog Training Elite gave us the tools to work though this with her. We are very passionate in helping build wonderful relationships with their dogs, whether they are pets or service animals.
Why should our clients choose you?
Before opening our own business and going though our training to become dog trainers, we were both highly qualified educators in local schools. Our background in educational psychology as well as varying ages of instructional levels gives us a unique way to address your training needs. We view our job as not only to work your dog, but empower you with the ability to work your own dog. We are very driven to provide connection to our classes and in addition to addressing your dogs needs. We also believe in being life long learners so we continue to attend trainings though our lead trainers who are AKC comparative obedience trainers from cooperate. For these training we fly out to location to learn from some of the best trainers and judges for AKC competitions. Dog Training Elite has over 40 years of experience in training all types and levels of dogs, and our training has come from the trainers who developed a solid way to approach teaching your dog.

Boot Camp Day-Board and Train
This is a 7 day Bootcamp at our facility located in North Naperville off of Rt 59 near I-88. We work with your dog during the day and then have you do 20-30 minutes of work a day with your dog as well after the boot camp to help transition skills home. Facility is open Monday-Friday and Bootcamp offers in home sessions as well as group classes to practice obedience with your dog. We train you as well as your dog so manners are followed at home as well!
